So, can you use ARGB 3pin Fans for example on a motherboard that only supports RGB 4pins? And can you also use for example the software of argb on a rgb motherboard?
Yes the the main purpose of the converter is to use ARGB 3 pin fans on a 4 pin RGB header. You can't use the software for argb however, you can only use rgb control. So you'll just get static colors. (at least probably) Maybe someone could figure out how to configure the bios to do something different.

Please help!!! i just got a msi cpu cooler. and i bought a deepcool rgb converter in ur video shown. Everything is working fine, but my rgb fans are flickering. and my fans are not showing in any of the rgb control programs.
If connected to a motherboard header, you'd use whatever motherboard software you have and just select which ever header they're connected to. If it isn't connected to a 4 pin header, you won't be able to change anything. The flickering is something I've noticed when not on a primary color, so I'm going to be testing this more to see if I can resolve it. The product is not a perfect solution in some situations.
Hey there! I thought this was a very helpful video. I may have missed it and may be confused so I'm looking for some clarification. I had heard you say that we will lose out on the addressable functionality of the rgb. Does this mean that this product would not work well with an ARGB Hub? I am planning on connecting my ARGB Hub to this Converter in order to connect my 5v ARGB Fans to my 12v MOBO Header. Thanks for your earliest response!
Basically what I meant was the advantage to addressable LED's is that you can have more than one color showing at a time and you can't do that with standard RGB where it's limited to one color. Using this converter would "change" your ARGB products into standard RGB. I don't know how well it would work with a hub as I didn't have one available to use to test at the time, but if the hub receives its own power, I'd think it would work. I'll have to look at this.
Hi there, just wondering if there was an outcome to this as I’m thinking of doing the same? I’ve got a Z490 carbon wifi motherboard with a 12v JRGB header but it’s also got a JRAINBOW1 header which is 3 pin? I’ve tried the 3 pin on the JRAINBOW1 header and the RGB doesn’t work. I’ve got the lian li SL120 fans with the hub but thinking of connecting the hub to that mini hub. The fans spin atm but no colour. Appreciate any help :)
@@AshKenyon Hi, I am also looking for something like this, I want to connect 4-5 ARGB products so I'm sure I'll need a hub to connect to this "converter" so just wanted to know if it works fine with the hub (primary) and if hub allows somehow to retain addressable functionality (secondary). Thanks in advance :)
Would this work with the Lian Li Uni fans? I bought some for my computer but realized I don't have a 3 pin connecter, is there any way to get them to light up without it?
If you bought the 3-pack, the included controller just needs SATA power and connected to an internal USB 2.0 header. If you can't do that or don't have the controller, yes, this product has a port that matches the connector that Lian Li uses. I want to say I did test this, but can't remember for sure and they're now in my build so I won't be able to verify until I get more in (which is a pain like everything else that's new). So I can't promise they'll work with this converter, but they should.
@@MitchPalego Hello, did u get to use the adapter of this video or pluggin them to ur usb port motherboard and control the rgb with any of those 2 options?
@Rayer24 I bought with a remote cause from what I have remembered it does not support software, actually need the remote to control the lights. If you want a software you need to change your mobo
i’m a bit late to this party, however i’m wanting to add that cool looking cooler master gpu stand as my card does sag considerably. i have an asus x470 with the 4 pin connectors for rgb. i have the better corsair hub for the QL fans leaving one of my 4 pin rgb headers open. my understanding is that the product i want to use is 3 pin aRGB, would this work or are there easier ways?
First off, THANK you for addressing a problem that was a very common issue on previous generation motherboards and some newer ones as well! So you lose the addressable function on ARGB things... does it cycle through them or just default to a certain color? My delimma....MSI B450 Tomahawk only has 4 pin 12v ARGB headers and my phanteks fans have their propitary 3 pin RGB connectors. If I can just get them to a solid red somehow that would be great! But as of now, no RGB to be had....
It's dependent on if you're using RGB software or not. If not, my guess it'll just do the rotation of static colors, but if you have MSI's Mystic Light installed, you *should* be able to do make it a static color. Your other option with Phanteks is to buy their digital controller hub, which does allow for preselect ARGB options that aren't too bad, but has its own downsides (like a wired remote).
Hey man, You saved my build. Thank You so much for video. In Europe is not so easy available but I found one also on Aliexpress. Thank You so much for Your help.
I've read some reviews on amazon by customers saying that this product has overheated and even melted cables and/or smoking or possible fire.. Can I really put my faith in this product and risk damaging my whole PC..?
I'm unsure at this point. I've seen the same thing in the reviews, but I've not had anything like that happen and I've been using it for a few months now. Even now, I just touched it while it was running in my system and it was barely giving off any heat. There's always a risk with any component in a PC build though.
If they're addressable fans, then yeah, you lose that aspect of them as standard RGB can't do the same things that addressable can. I don't know enough about any Deepcool fans though. The fans themselves should operate as normal though.
@@kaz9089 following question: instead of plugging 12v 4pin header to mobo, can i plug this in to a manual no-name controller? that i control it with remote?

Hi, bro.I have a gigabyte aorues x 570 pro wifi. I have the cooling connected so I can control it by software( until a month ago it worked perfectly). I have tried to change the wiring for the manual controller and it works perfectly, but I need it to be by software. I have a corsair rams with rgb as they work perfectly with the icue software. Also the rgb of the board works well, from rgb fusion I change the leds of the board itself, the only thing that does not change is the AIO (as a notation say that if you change the effect of the lights, if in strip form, if in circular form, etc, but the intensity of color and color change is not, is red and a very little red) I think the problem is because it reaches low voltage to the 3-pin connector of the motherboard. I have also bought a splitter and connected it via sata , but it still does not work...I have tried everything and I cannot solve the problem. Any recommendations? Do you think the motherboard could be damaged?
I know this video is 2 years old but I couldn't find any clear answers anywhere on my struggling quest. Can anybody tell me for sure if I can use this converter? My problem/question is: I have an Aorus (gigabyte) x299 gaming 3 mobo that only comes with 12v 5pin RGBW headers (x2) fully operational with my ongoing rgb setup. I searched a LOT and found some info about the motherboard being able to connect 3pin argb's on the provided 12v 5pin rgb headers, as they said it is compatible. But due to my past bad experiences in doing stuff without some research I don't want to take the risk and fry something out. Keep in mind that my goal is only to be able to connect about 2 or 3 argb acessories that only have 3pin argb connectors (1 rgb gpu bracket / 1 24pin mobo rgb cable and/or another fan for exhaust air since mine is kinda old and its the only one without rgb). Thanks in advance.
That's an interesting thought. I would assume so, but not sure how many you could string up. Might be time for me to buy a splitter and see what happens.
So still no "addressable" functionality?... Sigh... How come that a motherboard as recent as 2019, when there already was ARGB, didn't include it?? I feel kinda screwed over cause it makes certain products incompatible. - Not that RGB is so critical, but the older version just doesn't work as nicely when I DO want it. Anyway, it is what it is. I just went with non-lit fans for most of 'em and let the lighting in the RAM, PSU-fan, and some strips here and there do the rest.
I get it. It is really annoying to see so many motherboards lack an addressable header. It's better now, but definitely was a problem in 2019. B450 seemed especially guilty of not having the header.
2 years later your video is still uesefull thank you !!!

I want to say I did test this, but can't remember for sure and they're now in my build so I won't be able to verify until I get more in (which is a pain like everything else that's new). So I can't promise they'll work with this converter, but they should.
@@DaveyKTech alright well I ended up buying both this and a USB3 to use converter since my mobo only has 3 so one of those ought to work
@@MitchPalego Hello, did u get to use the adapter of this video or pluggin them to ur usb port motherboard and control the rgb with any of those 2 options?
Hi dude got a question, how do i control my rgb with this ? Witch software should i use ?
can you power the leds from 5v from the PSU?
anyone knows why this doesn"t work with the led strip on the ekwb flt240 which has a 3pin connector??
How many fans does that support it have 5 fans
Hey can you connect a fan hub to this ?
can i conect 3 pin cpu cooler to 4 pin motherbord ples help
Hi Sir, is my 5v - 3 pin gpu anti sag bracket (deepcool gh-01 argb) supported by this grb converter?
From what I can tell, it uses the traditional 3 pin connector that you'd connect to a motherboard, and this converter does accept that connector.
Should have been more descriptive by talking through the steps you took to connect everything
huh, just occured to me that we have the same chair. This video helped me pick out the right converter for me tho, thanks
Luckily my motherboard has the 3 pin header for this, which is a relief because I bought an MSI case.
Has anyone tested this on an MSI x370 carbon with Mystic Light? I've tried another converter and it didn't work correctly
How do you change the color if there's no remote and what software to use?
any answer??
@@autokicklex6111 I bought a coolmoon rgb controller for it to change and it works

could you control the color of your rgb product in software?
@@DaveyKTech Awesome thanks!
So you can only set every device to one color with this?
Correct. It's one of the limitations with this product.
If I connect it with Argb fans then will the fans change to standard rgb or we can control and set colours according to our requirements
How to lineup match 3pin male VDG header to female VDG connector ..
How many total fans can we add with this ? Like for example : 3-4ARGB CASE FANS and 2-3 AIO FANS ARGBs altogether?
is it come with cables
does aura sync work with it?
hey bro i just bought this and i have 4 fans how do i connect the 4 fans to this product?
Sir, please help me. I accidentally plugged in a 3pin argb to a 4pin rgb header. Is the led broken already?
The only damage would be if the 4 pin from the mobo has its pin Broken or severely bent
@@olcjc8338 i did it too. and my Zalman led fan has broken
Hi guys is there other ways to convert 3 rgb header to 4 rgb header? My mb is asrock so it is not compatible
If i were to connect RGB fans(Eg. Deepcool fans) to this converter into the 12v RGB on my motherboard, would I lose certain functions on the fan?
If they're addressable fans, then yeah, you lose that aspect of them as standard RGB can't do the same things that addressable can. I don't know enough about any Deepcool fans though. The fans themselves should operate as normal though.
@@DaveyKTech What happenes if i connect a 5v ARGB control header to 12v without the converter will the fan work and rgb not work ?
will it still work if I only have 1, 3 pin on the motherboard? thanks
apparently this converter isn't compatible with ASRock motherboards. that's the type I have, are there any alternatives?
Do you still have the problem? Because I also have a ASRock motherboard and want to buy this product.
How would i connect my Cooler master sickle flow 120 ARGB to my b450 tomahawk max?
thank you in advance this is my first time building a pc🙏🏻
Quick question: The device's 4 pin that you connect to the motherboard, does the motherboard have to have an RGB header or just a system fan header?
Needs an RGB header to control RGB.

Is it possible to convert 4pin to 3pin?

Quick question: does it work with a rgb liqiud cooler?
Can it work without sata?
do you think if you add a splitter to the 5v to add multiple products, would you be able to control it with asus aura?
