Hi Brett Have you test if the Samsung Dex will work with an unpowered USB-C to HDMI cable, to open more then 5 Apps and if you where to use wireless charging while connect the USB-C. And will it overheat?
As far as I know, any USBC to HDMI device needs some electronics in it, and some work unpowered (e.g. the Samsung one) and some need power (many other brands). Good question about wireless, I'd imagine it might depend what those apps are doing. Apps not doing anything don't generate much heat.

I'd like to know the reason why some devices need power to go into Dex. It doesn't particularly make sense, I wonder if Samsung are being annoying, or if these dongles are somehow sucking power from the phone.
Do you know if the hdmi to c adaptor would work on the samsung a 50
Is there similar functionality with a Samsung Tab S5E? Would be helpful to see similar testing with samsung tablets that have USB-C
Which dex connection is suitable for a tablet? I dont want to be limited to how many apps I can open.
THESE WOULD HAVE CHANGED AFTER SO MANY UPDATES. PLS UPLOAD PART 2
Great now I know how to use Samsung dex
Can Dex Pad work without plugging the power? Simply making it a replacement for multiport adapter?
My monitor only has USB, What cable do you recommend, straight type C to USB? Or Samsung Dex cable + USB Adapter? and will there be any loss in video resolution, speed ect???
Usb dont work like hdmi
@@rotatetheworld . So even if i use a HDMI cable with a USB adapter to the USB monitor, it won't work?
@@jat-justamaturetech-philpj8285 misunderstand you, it must be working
I have the Note 9. So it seems the best one is either the actual Dex pad so it will charge ot the Samsung USB C to HDMI cable if charging isn't of concern. Is that right?
Can I use this with note 10+?
Can I use HDMI cable in samsung galaxy m21?
Which ones worked and didn't work with the galaxy s8?
Isn't that the point of the video lazy.
@@straight2curveus did you even watch the video lazy? He stopped testing them with the s8 at the beginning of the video
@@lucasmdf that's my point he stopped testing it so why keep it in the description. It would have been nice at least list the ones that didn't work if he didn't want to keep it in the video.
It is not about if it is powered or not for more than 5 application to open its about the samsung dex docking station which has a fan to cool the phone which allow it to open more than 5 apps.
The link in the description for the DeX pad doesn't have the note 9 listed but by the video it obviously works right?
so which of the usb c adapter does not limit only 5 apps at once but will also charge your phone while you work on DeX please ?
Does it currently support modern devices such as s24 ultra Because the video was published six years ago and I don't find similar videos.
Dex mode in samsung s9 for 3rd party hardware device are locked in software level, you can unlock this if you have root access
Any idea how?
@@VapeJohn th-cam.com/video/s50GWuKphTI/w-d-xo.html it supposed to be the same for s9
Not the note 8
Is DeX on s9 using third party adapter available on new Android 10 Update?
@@sshoaibaliyasini1626 I have an S9 and it works with my 3rd Party Adapter, but of course it could be different with another one. I also can use the Phone while Samsung DeX is shown on the Monitor.
Will a type c to type c work?? I found a cheap Asus portable monitor but only has a type c? Cheersssss
Hey Brett, with Note 9 plugged to oryginal Samsung Dex, you can use other USB ports for mouse and keyboard? any posibility to check how many fps do you get on 4k screen? i had 30fps on some cheap docking station but i wonder if its not a cable's fault
Hi Brett
Have you test if the Samsung Dex will work with an unpowered USB-C to HDMI cable, to open more then 5 Apps and if you where to use wireless charging while connect the USB-C.
Great Video!
Do you know if I could connect and Samsung A51 to a screen using and USB-C HDMI adapter? It has support to do that?
Just try it
How much input power are you passing via usbc interface in the hub?
What is with phones of the Galaxy A series or any other midrange smartphones? Do they support mirroring over these adapters, too?
Can't find any informations about it.
Hey Bret, do you know if Dex works with mouse and keyboard that have a dongle, i.e. wireless instead of Bluetooth.
Can you open more than 5 apps with original cable and an original inductive charger, both from Samsung? That would be cool.
