- Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri is famous for its food, prepared and cooked fresh in the park and with a huge variety of unique selections that you won't find in any other park. This is a look at some of the incredible options for eating and great meals.
NOTE: It's been a trying week with lots of technical issues, which is why the Confessions episode is delayed this week. And even this isn't up to my standards. I'm sorry about the number of sound issues, snaps, and spots of not so great video work. I hope you enjoy the episode and the great look that it gives at SDC, and that you'll overlook the technical issues with this episode.
Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

I went to the Mine buffet years ago and I have NEVER had better food than I had there, I wanted to stay there all day and eat! The BBQ and the Potatoes, OMG THE potatoes were just heavenly, served on a picnic table with checkered table cloths :)
I can't wait to take my family there. it's nice to see that everything is made from scratch by people who take pride in their work.

Looks just fine to me! Some of those prices aren't bad for park food at all.
That looks great! So much better than the microwaved/barely heated/overpriced stuff you see in so many parks.
Soepsas I think we're speaking about ballpark prices here. Anyone shouldn't get the Bose or the Mercedes-Benz treatment when it comes to eating at the many restaurants at some cities. Branson beats Chicago by a mile when it comes to quality eateries - and mostly won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Now I want to plan a multi-day trip to SDC just to try all the food!
One thing about Silver Dollar City is that no matter where you are you can either smell food or hear music....everywhere.
The kettle chips with cheese and bacon, and hot dog tater twist are the best things in the park. My favorite snack to take home with me every trip is kettle corn

Yeah, those burritos at Percy's are BIG and tasty and for the $ sure are worth it! :d Love the calico potatoes w/sausage over at the Tater Patch too!
The ice cream is amazing too!!!! I also love the apple butter!
I always love the food whenever i go there. Now i'm hungry too again XD Also i think you should of mentioned the ice cream Parlor. Always a good favorite too. Though i admit, i was a lil sad about losing Mary's Springhouse, I loved the spaghetti.
I love silver dollar city I love like an hour from it in northwest Arkansas and going there this month on the 16th we got an all year pass
now I'm more hungry even though I just ate my dinner.

very excited for our visit to silver dollar city next weekend
Now I'm jonesing to visit Branson again and SDC. Last time my family was there, I enjoyed some kind of barbecue or smoked meat. Our focus was on the rides but I know it's much more than that, so next time I hope to relax and enjoy all the shops, craftsmanship and food places.
thanks for sharing all this wonderful info on SDC, my housemate grew up going to SDC, and she was surprised when i told her it was on my list of parks i want to visit, she didnt think i would want to go there after i grew up going to Disneyland, and was a former Disneyland Cast Member. Me i love all types of amusement parks.
Well done! We tend to get in a rut every time we go, but I learned some new things and different places I'm going to have to try.

Great video. My favorite is the succotash. One thing you could have mentioned is the holiday buffets. I thought that was a great idea.
I love to eat at SDC. My wife tries to recreate the skillets when we get home.

Ooh this is getting me pumped up for our trip in May! All these good eats AND time traveler?? Counting down the days! It looks like the SDC food might be better than Dollywood. Hmm, we’ll see!
Lumberjack skillets are my favorite.
Oh man now I'm hungry XD. I miss this place, having moved away from Missouri. My favorites were the mill, the rib house and the lumber camp. But I also miss the spring house and when they had the big spaghetti bread bowls. And also we'd get some frozen lemonade waiting in line for the saloon show. Also ps, one thing I also think worth mentioning is for guests the rootbeer floats and peanuts served in the saloon.
Lots of things look good there. I especially want to try the fresh pork rinds! The skillets bring back memories of many meals I've had at Whispering Canyon Cafe in Disney's Wilderness Lodge...

darn it now i have to go get a snack. Crossroads is our favorite because we are gluten free, and it is way better than dominos gluten free pizza! some places you pointed out I walk by and forget is there.

it looks too like the frontier look is utterly imersive! theming for a restraunt in a park is huge to me and oh boy do they have it.
1880's Ozarks, and they do a pretty good job with it.
The turkey legs are awesome. Never had better turkey.
Sullivan's Mill... Great baked goods and it put our 2 year old to sleep. One place she would take a nap in the park.

YUMM. I can't wait for the food, Im going to Silver Dollar City on Friday (June 7th, 2019) haven't been in years and am looking forward to it.

I remember the excellent food in the best days at Opryland. A restaurant in the New Orleans area was the first place I ever had a Monte Cristo sandwich.
Its worth getting the trailblazer pass so you don't spend half of your day at SDC waiting in line for the rides. Then you can spend half of your day riding rides, and the rest of your day looking at shops, shows, and restaurants and get a full day's worth of everything.
Greatly depends. If you're only able to go on Saturdays, then yes. But if you can visit during the week then you generally don't need a Trailblazer pass. Lines are much much shorter during the weekdays.

Funnelcakes Wagon Works Grill and the Taffy Shop is my three favorite places to go for food
A lot more places added since I was there. Just so expensive. I'm so hungry now. lol

I don't know when (if) he'll ever be in my neck of the woods. The other issue is he likely doesn't have a clue who I am. But if he came up to SDC I'd love to do a video or two with him.

The fried chicken buffet is well worth it.
I my favorite place to eat is the mine diner. When I go I always have to have two things, a pretzel dog and a funnel cake.

Very cool. It reminds me a lot of Spillikin Corner at Magic Mountain, only Silver Dollar City looks a lot better.
+Fifthrider I actually remember Spillikin Corner. Six Flags ruined that part of the park. It was a neat area.
Kettle korn was my favorite! I heard a rumor they don't make as much food in the park as they use to due to higher food safety regulations.
Like: Envious. My regional park may not make things from scratch. I do not remember.
Their taffy is great. They used to make a flavor that was "hot banana" and it was my favorite. I haven't seen it the past few times I've gone so I guess they discontinued it. I now just make do with mixing the cinnamon and banana taffy together and it's somewhat the same.
Sir Willow. The video was great stop sweating. DW is our favorite but it looks like you have swayed the family vote to go to SDC Again. LOL

+Billy Strong thanks. All of the snaps, crackles, pops and rubs in the sound drove me nuts though. Couldn't find my stabilizer and that was the result. (I did find it yesterday finally. LoL)

Best time if you are wanting the "regular" park would be early spring with the international shows, or during the crafting/ cowboy/ harvest fest in Sept/ Oct. the Christmas season is absolutely wonderful, but you want to avoid Saturdays especially at all costs during that time of year.

c1neal Dollywood was another silver dollar city until Dolly Parton bought it. At least that's what I heard.

Yes, the Mill is still there up on the square.

I can not want to go and check out Silver dollar city next spring break. Q do you know if they will have festivals during spring break. I would like to meet you in person if that’s a possibility
SDC usually has some sort of festival going on, depending on when your Spring Break is. Best thing to do is to check their website in Jan or Feb, when they should start posting dates of what festival will be when.
We'll have to see how Spring goes. I really want to get back to the park. if we're able to get vaccines and things work out with my ever crazy schedule, maybe. :-)

does any one know if they still serve breakfast at the succotash place? I never knew they did that and would love to try it next visit if they still do it.
Which "succotash" place? Do you mean the large flat skillets? They've all rotated around a bit in the last couple of years, especially the ones up the hill from Flooded Mine, where Time Traveler is, as they were all torn down and a few rebuilt. So it's very hard to say without knowing which one you're talking about.
There is of course the bakery on the way in, the breakfast buffet at the Mill, and the cinnamon and other breads for sale at Sullivan's Mill in midtown, all of which are open when they let people in on the square but before the rest of the park opens.
@@SirWillowyes the cast iron skillets, your video showed eggs, and ham for breakfast being made, and I had never seen that before at the cast iron skillet succatash stands, so wondering if they still have that.
Ahh those. That's one of the ones I meant that were all torn down and rebuilt. I don't believe the new place there has the breakfast skillet, and not sure if anyplace in the park does or not. Many of the smaller booths now don't open until 10:30 or 11.
we have gone to silver dollar city a lot of times and have never had food there because we guessed it was to expensive but i will have to try some of these places!

The free samples that I'm aware of in the park are at Brown's Candy Factory- usually a bit of brittle, but sometimes bits of fudge, and the pork rinds by lumber camp where you can have a piece of one. Not a lot of food.
Surprisingly a lot of the food isn't that pricey for theme park food. We eat for the same price, or less, as we would at a Denny's or Village Inn. That's really not to bad. A burger and fries at Wagon Works on the Square, for instance, will run you around $8-10 I think (on the road so I don't remember exactly), which honestly is only $2-3 more than what a fast food meal will run you.
So this is an eating park?
+jstrahan2 lots more than just eating. Great roller. Coasters and thrill rides, lots of entertainment and shows, and one of the best places if you want to see craftsmen at work- blacksmiths, woodworking, art, weaving, glass blowing, candle making, and much, much more.
I know. Just trying to be funny. To be honest, it would be a great place for a gastronome to visit. Forget all those silly coasters, thrill rides, and shows.

@@jrax1713 the good news is as far as theme park prices go, the food isn't to expensive. Most prices are on the level of, say, a Denny's or IHOP. Remember that Dollywood and SDC are about 1000 miles away from each other, which makes for a good 2 or 3 day drive, depending on your stops. :-)
They do allow you bring your own food, just no glass bottles and NO alcohol.
Some people pack a cooler in there car and go out to it to eat and then come back. They can stamp your hand for re-entry.
They’ve added a sample food option 5 or 6 for $30 during festivals

food and drink costs are going to be high at any theme park. honestly as expensive as it is, they are cheaper than many places. And you can always ask for a cup of water free.
Had this thought today.... did you ever see the duggar family (19 kids and counting) while working at Silver Dollar City?
yep, saw them several times. They were season pass holders at the park
i worked there over the summer and the Duggar's would come quite frequently
they have good pizza?
They did as of a couple of years ago. I didn't eat the pizza all last year as my wife can't eat it due to allergies.

+Andrew Gibson sorry Andrew. I've been in the kitchens, watched them make the food. My son worked in them. Are there mixes used? Sometimes. But the vast majority is made from scratch or close to it.
SirWillow I worked in foods for 3.5 years. Name a food and I will tell you the mix they use. The apple dumplings are from sarah lee, the cinnamon rolls are phillsbury, the cupcakes and brownies are betty crocker, the cinnamon rolls are a generic off brand mix, the vegetables are sliced and frozen in the prep kitchen and held for several weeks before service, thr skillets at docside are a bunch of cans mixed togethor, the fried bread dough is freshcas, the pretzels are now super pretzels' bavarian style because one of the supervisors wasnt happy with the old brand, need I go on? You have that incorrect, 90% of the food is from mix, or frozen
