V18311 - 1976 Buick Electra Limited

  • The Limited Electra is the top of the line. This one is extra sexy in triple black with chrome wheels. It is a 2 owner, 65,000 documented mile car that lived in Texas. In the glovebox it has its original manuals and warranty booklet. Texas has a yearly safety inspection, we have all of those, registrations and more. The first owner kept it until 2008. The 2nd and current owner is a Buick Electracollector. He has owned as many as 8 at a time.
Like I already said, this car is sexy. It's had one repaint. The black is slick. I'm looking down the side of the car and it truly is straight as an arrow. The body gaps lineup and fit square. I'm sitting in the car right now as I write this. It is in practically new condition. Very luxurious genuine leather upholstery. It's a split a true split bench seat with fold down armrest. Looking at the dash area, it's excellent. The knobs, wood grain, vents, steering wheel don't show any wear. The big optional 455 moves this land yacht. The engine compartment is very original looking. It has not been monkeyed with. The fan shroud, overflow bottle, wires, hoses, components look to be proper.

I was just a young kid in the 70's. One day my dad told me that one of his old army buddies was coming for a visit and when he pulled into the driveway he was driving a Buick Electra. I never forget how stunning that car was. He opened the car door, which seemed to be as long and wide as my bed, and as he lifted himself out I saw that he had a gold ring on every finger and a huge gold medallion necklace around his neck ( you could see the weight of all that gold on him, he must have had 2 pounds of gold on his person). When he saw me he said 'how'yas doin, kid ?' in this deep scraggly voice, a voice that sounded like it had been run over by a freight train. My dad greeted him and I could instantly feel the connection they shared. He came inside and began to tell my dad stories. Stories of being in Africa and about gold mining and diamonds and pirates. That guy, and his Electra, were absolutely legendary. He was a giant among men. There are no men like him today, and no cars like the Buick Electra.

Amazing story about a past that might not repeat it self again, being young and optimistic and full of energy and seeing icons of successfull adventures men in your circle that made it, wish I was born in those times and places, I would if been really rich by now, you should have got more replies but people don't anderstand what you mean.

I had a 75 Electra 225 sedan with the V8 455 engine, notice I said had, well I took the car to jiffy lube and 2 weeks later it dropped a rod through the bottom of the engine, after that I never let anyone touch my cars, this is one of the cars I owned that I missed the most, what a boat

My parents had a 74 or 75 . With the 455 , 2 door black on black with silver by vinal top and the black fabric material. It was definitely a highway cruiser , family road trip from Houston Texas to San Diego California and back . The 455 plenty of power. Great car !

Dad had a 71-72 225 Limited, 4 door, white with sage green cloth. side skirts. Power seats, 455. You could play basketball on the hood. Best car we ever had. Better than Continentals. It was a tank and rode like a dream. If I were homeless, I’d want a buick electra to live in. I waxed it for him every 6 weeks so I could drive it. It never got me laid though.

When my Grandfater died, I herited his 1978 Buick Electra, my brother was over seas, so my Grandmother gave him the cash value of the car at that time. It was a four door white leather interior and roof, with a green exterior. Those cars were huge! Gas was under a dollar, and I put a lot of miles on it all over the country. Now at 70, I dream of buying one and doing the same kind of traveling!

This reminds me of my 1970 Oldsmobile 98 with the Rocket 455. One Halloween at Virginia Tech in 1989, there were 13 people in the car and trunk plus a full keg of beer. With the tops of the rear tires hitting the wheel wells, this incredible 455 engine was still able to burn some rubber on the way to see Spinal Tap at the local movie theater. Yes I was sober and the designated driver. The above Buick Electra is stunning. I know my Oldsmobile would beat it in a race since the 455 in the Buick is strangled by a catalytic converter(s). I would love to see this collector’s 1970 Buick Electra because I know the power of pre catalytic 455 engines. I definitely subscribed to this site! I’m going to look at the mentioned 1970 Buick Electra...

I had a '71 Electra 225 (base model) and a '77 Electra Limited. These really were for the guy who wanted a "sportier" looking Cadillac. You got the luxury interior and ride every bit as nice as a Cadillac with a less "formal", more "dynamic" styling. For all of the crap that Buick gets for being an "old mans" car, It really was a YOUTHFUL Caddy. The Buick "rally" wheels are a work of art, And they only look RIGHT with Buick's styling. Even though the Oldsmobile 98 and Cadillac DeVille shared the same body shell, Those wheels would look wrong on those cars. Don't get me wrong those are ALSO beautiful cars, but they are in "formal dinner" dress. The Buick is in "yacht party" dress. 👍😊👍

Mine, was similar in options. I had the Astroroof, automatic door locks, power antenna, no cruise control, but, speed alert, fiber Optics lamp monitors, power trunk, manual A/C, change the headlights to halogens, install a 4note horn,& the 455cid 4bbl was STANDARD, til the GM strike, some 350cid were installed w/a price break. I didn't care for the UNIROYALS wide walls. Placed instead aramid belted Vogue tyres, which were taller. From JR78-15 steel belted to LR70-15. From a nice ride to a magic carpet ride. That was my 1st brand new car. Never did it leave me stranded, for I highly maintained it & used the new Mobil 1,synthetic oil. Amoco 93, & everywhere I went ppl asked if I wanted to sell. Mine was Pewter colored, but, w/ the same wheels & molding. Cranberry interior & triple lined pinstripes. Never did Buick built a masterpiece as yours & mine. I've had many new cars since then, but, all were compared to that model as a STANDARD. It was a comfortable 6pass, long distance traveler, a true land yacht. Mine, cost a tick above $9k. True bargain, I saved $$$$. Njoy your car,I know I did. P.s, where's the hood ornament??? I LOVED THE REVERSE LIGHTS when they returned from White to Red.
    233" from bumper to bumper.

@@VoloMuseumAutoSales greetings, I owned my Buick Electra 225 coupe, til '79. I sold it privately & got a '79 Caddy Seville. It made me miss that big galuth by selling. Especially, when I would saw it on the road. I had piled a bit of miles & my mechanic scared me by saying major repairs were coming. Water pump, timing chain, bushings, etc. I was fearful it would leave me stranded, which was ALWAYS the reason I bought brand new. The person who got it from me had to junk it in '81,because his son (no license) snuck it out & TOTALED the poor thing. To this day I still use it as a STANDARD of measurement. And I would also like to recommend that you STOP writing multiple comments about what you'd also like to recommend. Do you realize how ridiculous you sound? What the hell is the matter with you?

This blows the equivalent Cadillac of its day completely out of the water.

Whaaaaaaaat are you talkin' about!? NO Buick ever had all the features and luxuries of a Cadillac. Ever.

    • @CH67guy1

      @@greeneyedwarlock882 From a styling perspective.
I’ve been admiring Cadillacs since my aunt bought a new Fleetwood Brougham in 1972.
But occasionally I see a car that’s different from the Cadillacs that I’m used to, and that can be refreshing.
I have a Cadillac Eldorado, but I must admit that I’ve always wanted a Buick Riviera.
To me it’s not always about the features and luxurious. It’s more about which one fires off the chemicals in my brain that make me feel happy.
And similarly with colors, and more specifically with the colors of cars.
      Quick example.
I’ll always choose a blue car over a red car. Every time.
Blue makes me feel good, but red is painful to me.
