Henry Rollins is an interesting dude. Definitely an artist. He was the lead singer of the punk band Black Flag for a period. He has done a one man spoken word tour. He has done quite a bit of acting/movies. Definitely one of a kind.

Henry Rollins is intellectual. I've always felt that he wrote this song in the "third person" as a public service message to help society see beyond the facade to better guard ourselves. I think Lex sees it as a good break up song because the main character is coming clean and being honest about his behavior... and that's something we all long for after a breakup but rarely get. It's cathartic. Another Rollins song I would highly recommend is "Low Self Opinion", it's another deep rocker!

Rollins has a great story about meeting David Lee Roth at some function in the early 80s. They both knew each other and Dave pulled out a cold beer from his coat pocket and gave it to Henry and said, "How about THAT?!" Imagine those two talking to each other. That must've been something else. They're of the same mold despite their disparate music styles. Both love talking at the very least, but both are smart and witty and offbeat characters.

I like this song a lot and stayed up until the middle of the night to hear it on the live stream (I live in England). Henry Rollins was the vocalist for Black Flag, a hardcore punk band which I loved. When they split up, Henry formed his own band and I saw them play on 3 occasions. Always an intense experience, with Henry giving it 100% emotional energy and commitment.

I grew up listening to dang near every genre of music you can think of...everything from metal to hip hop to country...soul...blues...R&B...punk rock...grunge...thrash... Heck, I even like polka, salsa, mariachi... I appreciate ALL good music and I love the fact that y'all cover such a wide variety of music -especially music from "my era!"
I just would like to thank the both of you for reacting to all the music that I love and grew up with. Also, I deeply admire the fact that both of you can appreciate the same wide variety of music that I grew up listening to!

Rollins lol. Former front man of Black Flag.
    (Story telling time)
I remember having a friend asking me to go see Black Flag at the exit inn in Nashville when I returned from overseas.
So, me and my brother went, and I noticed a ton of Vandy students there and when the show started it was crazy.
Henry Rollins maybe sung 3 to 5 words of whatever opening song it was and the crowd sang the rest.
In fact, all Rollins did was prompt them when to start the rest of the show and the band played while he cheered the crowd on the rest of the way.
My brother turned to me (older brother) and said, "This is the craziest shit I have ever seen." Yep, I pretty much felt the same way.
Although I didn't follow that band much it left a lasting crazy memory.

If you've ever dealt with a true sociopathic or narcissistic person you understand this song. They're awful people.
My War and Rise Above by Black Flag with Henry as the lead singer are good songs too. Black Flag also does a great live cover of Louie Louie from their "Who's Got the 10 1/2 Inch" album. Live off the album, not live on stage...

I like to describe this song as the ultimate narcissists/manipulator's manifesto. The epitome of a toxic person, except they're honest about it. I also love how the one truth he told is at the end when he says "and i'll keep lying. i promise"

If his voice sounds similar to the spoken word part of TOOL's song "Bottom", well, that would be Mr. Rollins himself. They toured together for a short time.

Henry Rollins is an iconic figure in entertainment... Started out as the vocalist for hardcore punk band Black Flag... then reached fame in the 90's as the frontman of Rollins Band... He also starred in roles in a number of movies - 'Heat' (w/ DeNiro, Pacino & Val Kilmer) and 'Johnny Mnemonic' (w/ Keanu Reeves & Ice-T) ... Lately, he's made a living doing spoken word tours... u can hear some of his humorous anecdotes and monologues on TH-cam. He claimed he has ended his musical career after "achieving everything" he set out to do.

This song is about dealing with a narcissistic person, a pathological liar, a sociopath.
Henry Rollins is a very intense person. Highly intelligent, very straightforward, direct and honest in real life. He has had a very crazy life and he has used punk rock, singing for Black Flag, and his solo music, to get his anger and frustrations out and to confront his demons.
He is actually a very insecure, well mannered, well spoken, polite, and kinda shy person that doesn't like being in the spotlight unless onstage and then he is an animal.
He is someone I have always looked up to as a human being because he is so real and genuine.

Henry Rollins is a different dude, kinda like Corey Taylor in present day.. Spoken word, TV host, one man show.... but burst on the DC punk scene in the early 80's, then went to Cali to front Black Flag (My favorite). Dive into some of that! Also, you guys need to expand on Corey Taylor, not just Slipknot, but his other projects too! Take care - Love the channel!!
