I agree that bureaucracies are more boundaries, rules and rigid. Those qualities are what would build the iron cage because you always stay inside and never think outside the box.

Hi Koko Nina. I am also a huge fan of Max Weber, and I will be happy to share more with you. He was a brilliant man, and he wrote in many areas. This playlist compares how his concept of the Iron Cage was adapted for Organization Theory and in International Relations. He also wrote in the areas of political science, sociology, management, bureaucracy, institutional theory, and I would argue that his ideas paved the way for Austrian Economics (especially with the whole verstehen/erklaeren debate). Do any of these topics in particular interest you? I have videos on some of them already, others I can create for you.
I feel that this was a pretty accurate insight by Max Webber. All I disagree with is that I don't think Bureaucracy's are flexible and fair. I feel that they are more of a dictator/individual type of ruling.
I learned that Max Weber thought that bureaucracies were very efficient and good for routines. However, they are weak for non-routine scenarios. They are good for things you do all the time. Adhocracy is the opposite.
As a former government employee, I remember what the golden cage was like. There are always good benefits from public employees, but creativity isn't always one of them - hence the iron cage inside the golden cage. Thank you for commenting by the way.
