I have two snappers I rescued after seeing your video with baby Groot. They’re definitely the coolest turtles imo
My mom had bought 2 red eared sliders when I was around 11-12 and I’m 26 now. One of them died in like a year, but the remaining one has survived until now. He/she has definitely had a tough life in small tanks and not enough water to swim. Not saying we haven’t been trash owners, but we really knew nothing about them and they were being readily sold on the streets in these tiny little tanks with barely any water, and people especially those with children just buy them up left and right and keep them in those hand sized carrying “tanks” their whole lives. They always come in pairs too, so imagine how constricted that must have felt for them. In fact, we had kept ours in there until one died and the other “outgrew” it. But even then, we only moved it to a goldfish bowl, then to a 10 gallon tank after seeing it pop its head out the bowl and almost climbing out of it, and finally to a bucket after it cracked the plastic on that one. I’m just now realizing how awful they must have had it and it’s amazing one is still alive after all these years. I had tried feeding it greens many years ago without success, so I definitely will be giving the tuna a try and I’m going to need to buy that pond you have. It will need to slowly learn how to swim, but I hope its remaining years will be much better than his earlier ones.
I have a matta matta turtle I love her. I started her in a 40 gallon as well and it’s just about time for an upgrade

I have a 13 year old Male red eared slider. He is about 6.5 inches. He lives in a 75g tank with an above tank basking area and a 150g external canister filter. He really likes his aquatic plants in his enclosure . I like to give him water lettuce, water hyacinth, a mixture of different pellets, shrimp crickets and worms as treats

We rescued a hatchling from the birds at a park when he was the size of a quarter, his name is Leonardo! It's been 3 months and we absolutely adore him. We never knew turtle's were so smart, have such funny personalities and can recognize their human parents. He wakes us up every morning doing a little turtle dance moving back and forth at the front of his tank staring at us until we wake up and feed and talk to him. So far we have kinda winged it as far as his tank, diet and how to care for him goes. Neither of us knew anything about turtle's. We enjoyed your video, want to follow and still have a few ?'s cause we love Leo so much and want him to be happy so badly. We aren't even sure he is a red ear slider, he looks exactly like one but no red ear? He used to eat worms (live meal worms) for about 2 weeks now he won't touch them is that normal and okay? We have a submersible heater it stays 82 in his tank but he's always right by the heater I worry he too is cold? He has been offered treats ( floating shrimp balls- he is supposed to chase and he takes a nibble every once in a while but has no interest in them really)! He doesn't bask at all even though he has a cool waterfall and basking area under a basking light. Also I'm still a lil confused about their lighting...now I have 3 lights a daytime, a blue night time & a basking light...is that sufficient for him if so how long with each light? Please advise and thank you for loving turtle's like our Leonardo... btw my name is Jenelle I'm using my fiances act.

I have a yellow bellied slider name leo . 2 years ago I was in Florida and you know they have plenty of gift shops that sell hermit crabs and souvenirs. I saw Leo in a 20 gallon tank with 12-15 of his siblings stacked up on each other on a small platform . The tank was sitting at the cash register. I asked the owner how much was a turtle . He said $20 and came with pellets in a sandwich bag and plastic container (the ones you put hermit crabs in). I didn’t really know anything about turtle but I took him home in Texas . Bought a tank and filter for $40 on OfferUp . Went to pet smart to get his proper lights and food 🐢 I’m still learning by watching these videos so thank you 💖

Great video! I have 2 RES that I’ve had to separate due to aggression. They now have a 400L aquarium each 😄 a video on aquatic plants safe for them would be awesome!
honestly they eat almost any plant that goes in their tank, but for me my sliders don’t touch hornwort.
That is a great idea Max, there are some plants not safe for aquatic turtles. I can absolutely touch on them in a video soon

I have a 3 month old baby western painted turtle. Was in a ten gallon. But I just bought him a 40 gallon filled up half ways. Till he gets bigger
First time checking out the channel . I want to put my 2 cents in . Pet stores are there to make money . Some have very good info and some dont . Its still the buyers responsible to do there research . If you get a animal of any kind you take the best of care for it . You made the choice and commitment to the animal . Put your adult pants on and raise it with the proper care .

My brother-in-law asked for a complete setup for a slider, money was no issue. They sold him a 5 inch slider with a 20 gallon tank, no basking place/platform, a heating bulb, and a repto filter for the 10 gallon tanks (the small). The shop shouldn’t be selling setups like that. Fortunately, he had to move and I adopted the Squirtle. I renamed him lol He is now very content in a 60 gallon with a second story basking area! Win for the turtles 🐢!!! We have lots of rescues in our home too. My mom raised us to take care of animals even if you can’t keep them. She alway found a good home for them and it rubbed off on all her kids. Glad to see others out there trying out of the kindness of their heart. Great work sir.

I have an issue I hope you could advise me on how to resolve. I have an eastern painted turtle that I rescued 20 years ago. He was injured and would no longer survive in the wild, so I took him to a small animal vet, got him fixed up and cared for him for almost two years until he was back to 100%. I have him in a 75 gallon tank, with 45 gallons of water and provisions for him to bask. All has been good for the 20 years, until my 16 year old Rena XL canister filter died. I then purchased a Marineland canister filter, which worked well but I kept having leaking issues. So I replaced it with a Fluval 407 canister filter. I have had the Fluval for four months and I cannot get the water to clear. It appears to be a biological bloom issue. I have checked everything and have tried desperately to resolve this problem. The water test great, all the parameters like nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, etc.... are all fantastic. Its just the water is a white colored cloudy. There is no foul odor, the filter pump seams to circulate well and nothing has been changed with the aquarium set up beyond the filter. I have done partial water changes and full water changes, with no resolution. 3-4 days after doing a full water change the water is cloudy again. There is no gravel on the bottom of the aquarium and no plants. I feed him the same turtle pellets and dried turtle treats that he has been eating all 20 years. I have inspected the filter assembly to make sure there is no issue causing the water to bypass the filter stages. All good. I have also added a submersible polishing filter in the tank, still no improvement. I decided to let the water circulate thru the filter longer, before doing another water change. So it has been 3 1/2 weeks since my last water change and I have added biological bacteria supplement to the tank twice a week. Still cloudy. Please help.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

At one point in Facebook groups I was seen a post everyday people rehoming a red eared slider. Pretty sad but at least stores are not selling them anymore.

I have a map turtle and a southern painted turtle hatchling. I bought them because they don’t get huge. It’s sad that pet stores around where I live only sell red eared sliders. They get too big for what most people can handle.

Red ear sliders do better alone when they get bigger. I have two and after they became fully adult females they started fighting so I had to separate them.
So they are like bearded dragons ? When they turn into an adult they eat mostly greens ???
Hi there. My daughter was gifted a little turtle in a tiny tank.. we live in Arizona so I was wondering if it’d be too hot to keep the turtle in a larger tank outdoors?
Hey, do you happen to know what type of turtle? Most aquatic turtles do great outdoors. You’ll want to make sure that the enclosure has plenty of shaded spots and a place for the turtle to get out and fully dry off in the sun.

How long can red eared sliders live? Google says 20+ years but I know a few people who claim they have 50+ year old Red eared sliders. Is this possible?
Could be.. would be some of the oldest. Typically 20-30 years.. occasionally 40
