Always thought Kevin was super cool from the tv stuff. Seemed like a dude who could say things in a way that was understandable by all who listened. Glad you guys collaborate man.
Derek, if I had to guess I'd say you never in a million years thought your passion would lead to a successful channel and opportunities to meet so many others in this industry. Love the collaboration's and the end results. Keep it going!
Derek you have such a down to earth channel about keeping these vehicles alive and well without breaking the bank. I’m a 60 year old man who turned wrenches back in the 80s for about 10 years. You take me back to those days.
Thank you for your paint and bodywork tips and tricks ! I worked in my dads body shop in the 70’s- 80’s we used lacquer paint back then . Boy things have changed !
Thank you for the free lessons. Definitely things I will use in my vacation of working on my own stuff. I'm going to buy your course. Do you do a hands on where you are?
I remember watching Kevin on TV on Sundays, He taught us how to do your own bed liner in your truck. Way back in the day. Gave me Inspiration to do my own and turned out great. Thank you
Mr. Tetz I wanted to say it has been an extreme pleasure to find you and your videos through Vice Grip Garage. I have subscribed and watched quite a few videos. Sir your personality, willingness to teach, and just being a fun gent is truly a blessing to so many people. I pray you, your wife, your family, and Paintucation are exceedingly blessed. I am looking forward to more videos and watching your subscriber count soar into the heavens. God bless you all! ~John
I've been watching Derek and Vice Grip Garage for quite a while now, and it wasn't until this truck project that I found this channel. Kevin and Derek are both excellent guys who do amazing work. I'm so glad you decided to do the bedliner. Oh, yeah, I subscribed to this channel!
Kevin you and Derek have to do more of these collaboration projects. You are a cool dude and fabulous instructor. The two of you together.... tremendous.
I came over from VGG and subscribed awhile back. As someone who spent many yeas as an aircraft painter for the DOD, I really appreciate what you are doing, especially with safety equipment. I painted a lot of Jet aircraft and used a forced air suit and mask back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. I always cringed when watching Derek not use a facemask. So I'm really happy he's learned a thing or two from you.
I'm really glad I found your channel through Derek.. I'm also a Tennessee neighbor..Great job on the truck and much respect for all you do to share your wisdom..
Have been watching VGG for about a year and learning so much about Derek's world, and now we've been introduced to Kevin's side of things and the collaboration is GREAT. Body prep and paint seem to entail a lot longer learning curve, but you make it look possible for the average guy. Can't wait to learn enough to actually try it myself.
You are the Ultimate Teacher! You have a gift of making everything understandable and relatively simple to put into practice. Been a fan for many years.
I have been a follower of you for years. I'm a retired old guy, and a hobbyist painter for 40ish years. My skills were sketchy at best, but I paid attention to tons of your "How to" video's and learned a lot ! I think even back before you were with Eastwood. I learned how to set up my shop air and how to set up a spray gun and spray, I still use your technique to this day... Never. got to thank you... THANK YOU !! Happy to see you get with "Vice-grip" been. subbed to him for several years. James
Kevin, you are THE MAN. I have been watching you for DECADES. So knowledgeable, inspirational and positive. The world (particularly, the gearhead world) needs more of you! Keep up the great work, and thank you for always helping the rest of us!
what a great collab. Derek picks the best people to work with, and this was no exception. Kevin, your enthusiasm is contagious, and so much fun to watch and learn from, and your passion for the craft is without a doubt inspiring new generations to come. I love the oldschool trucks no matter what make/model, and it is great seeing this sweetheart get a new chance at life. Thanks Again, Kevin. You Rock.
I'm glad Derek's project brought me to your channel. I love learning all I can. Your a wealth of knowledge. Just turned 70 painted my first car at 16, always more to learn. Thank you.
I watched the bedliner upload a few days ago, then Dereks upload last night, now this! Great work. So much knowledge shared from you on this project. You and Derek worked great together! Truck looks awesome! Hope to see you two work together again!
As a body shop owner, painter and collision repair tech for over 20 years I can honestly say you guys did an amazing job in such a short amount of time, Kevin there is no substitute for experience and I could tell immediately that you have an invaluable amount of it, guys like you are getting hard to find and I was happy to see a painter who uses the proper safety equipment when painting, I see so many people spraying catalyzed material wearing only a particulate respirator and it's not only unprofessional it's just plain foolish, outstanding work.
As a "kid" who watched you on TV for many years, I can't tell you how valuable this collab with Derek has been for me and my project. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The sharing of experience just in these two videos has taught me volumes on where I went wrong and what I can do better.
Glad Derek let us know about this channel. I spent so many weekends enjoying watching Kevin do amazing things with vehicles. Glad he is doing videos on TH-cam!
OMG,I've been doing body work and paint since 1987. This is exactly the way I do it. It made me feel proud that I'm at least on the same playing field with an expert like Kevin.
It was cool to see you guys working together, i remember watching you on Sundays Kevin! You have taught me a lot over the years! Thank you for what you do!!! Oh,truck looks great!
This was an amazing collaboration between the 2 of you. The turnout so far looks phenomenal, I'm sure I speak for all of us we look for more of this kind of content in the future.
Glad ti see this channel on TH-cam. I learned a ton from you and paintucation. I painted my first car about 5 years ago. Tons of compliments and offers to paint other cars. All the steps came from paintucation! Getting close to painting my next project. Thanks for all the help
I've painted houses and stuff all my life. It's pretty neat to hear you talk about painting the way you do. Nothing like taking something that's seen better days and making it look new or even better than new.
Used to do them 3 day tree-row to tree-show body and paints back in the day. Many great memories with friends, and those friends that didn't get theirs hands dirty, were always on cold snack duty and kept us going. Nice job and thanks for the flashbacks
Beautiful work on a beautiful truck! I’ve been an industrial sandblaster and painter for over 20 years, I’m thinking I want to move over to the automotive side of things! Things like this inspire me to keep learning and progressing! Great videos! Also, been watching you for years, I love the channel and new content!
This was such a fun collab to watch. I've been watching you on powernation since i was a kid, funny enough i found my way back to you through VGG. That F100 looks killer! Nice work fellas!
I asked Derek, he said... "go for it!" We still managed to get some video shot with all that had to be done on that truck... I'm a huge fan of VGG and what that feller accomplishes!!!
I watched the entire Copperhead build with Stacy David, that truck is absolutely stunning, i had a 70 c10, i paid 500 dollars for it, and drove it, for 10years..Copperhead will always be my favorite, nothing will ever come close, but i really do appreciate what V.G.G does, pull an old vehicle from the depths of hell, and put them back on the roads..hats off to you Kevin for laying down the most beautiful paint on the incredible Copperhead..
Great job Kevin Been watching you over the years and as usual your work and knowledge is awesome Thanks for the knowledge, entertainment and encouragement
Yall did an amazing job!!! Glad I found you thru VGG. I've been racking my brain trying to remember the show I use to watch you on. Been doing bodywork for years and always down to learn new things, tricks or techniques. Great job yall
Glad this collaboration with Derek is paying benefits. Estimating you had about 100 man hours over the 4 days at (CA) shop rates that's between $15k and $20K in labor not including materials. That's a lot of funding to buy paint and tools if you do it yourself. A tip is to buy stuff like cutoff wheels and sandpaper and chemicals in quantity when you can, instead of small quantities when you have too. It saves money and it doesn't hurt as much when you have it on the shelf. Even doing it by yourself, in most cases, the cost of painting a car exceeds the value of the car, so you may have to include 'something' for a significant other to keep them on board with the project.
Not really, a harbor freight paint gun, tractor paint, not quite professional body work and you can do a great job with single stage paint for a few hundred $$ afterwards I sold my sander & paint gun to a friend making it even cheaper.
Thanks for all you do!! I wouldn't have thought to look for you without your work and input in this build...... Subscribed!! BTW, The Copperhead build is probably one of my favourite builds over the years.
Excited to see your channel and the great information that will be coming. It's also nice seeing a couple of guys working hard and having fun while doing it. I bust a$$ 80hrs a week with some great guys too and we always manage to keep smiling. If you haven't been to the point when everyone just looks at each other exhausted and then breaks out laughing... you don't know what real work is and/or you should be doing something else.
This has been an awesome project from both of you guys. Kevin you are truly a pro brother!!! I've learned so much in just a few minutes between you and Derek's videos. Awesome job and incredible abilities!!!!
This has been fantastic to watch the both of you knock this truck out. I grew up watching you on the weekends, now its like reliving it all over again. I saw that green Mustang you built a few years back at Mustang Week that had the newer mustang headlights molded in and all. Fantastic job.
Looks like its had a life as a winter wood hauler with a couple cold snack misses loading. Very cool seeing Kevin still laying down some awesome shine . And as for Mr Derek. Keep on doing it your way brother. Another fine project for some lucky winner . Goin to town approoved. 😉
Hey Kevin - grew up watching you on Trucks! and just watched your bedliner ep and the VGG episode. I’ll be using your techniques on my own Mustang project soon, so keep up the good work. For me, just a weekend warrior, this content is gold. 👍👍👍
Amazing. Great color, and I hope this becomes someone's weekend (no winters) dream machine. I can picture this rig pulling up to Pop's Clam Shack in Alton Bay, New Hampshire.
Best vice grip episode I’ve seen so far. That was awesome man. You stole me when you replaced Stacy David and it was great again. It was losing bob barker and Drew did a good job. You’re a very educated man, and I love watching your work. Thanks man for the tips and tricks!
I must say it is refreshing to see you not making it showroom new. You could see how much you wanted to not let a dent or any imperfections pass by. Hats off this was awesome
Thank you!! Some people jumped on a few things we missed... but that wasn't the point of this... we just didn't have 6 months to blow it apart and "restore" every little detail. Don't misunderstand... I want ALL the feedback good and bad, but we had a goal of "improvement" and not so much a goal of perfection. Glad you enjoyed the video! Somebody gonna get a nice trucK!
Enjoyed the video, and I learned a lot of tips! You've inspired me to do the body and paint work on my old 2nd gen Dodge pickup. I've painted a few cars in the driveway over the years, but have a lot to learn. Thanks!
I can't wait to win it! Over the past couple of years, I've restored a 1967 Covered Wagon camper that I dragged home and completely rebuilt from the ground up. The camper will look so nice being pulled by that F100.
Glad to have found you again Kevin. My brother and I did semi restoration on a C3 Corvette when we were in high school. We bought your Paintucation VHS tapes and painted it ourselves and it turned out really good.
Love your channel Kevin. What a beautiful job on that old Ford. Every time I watch your channel I learn something new. Kevin, you and Derek are a ton of fun to watch. Keep up the Great Videos.
Thanks so much, Kevin! I had fun and learned so much!
Always thought Kevin was super cool from the tv stuff. Seemed like a dude who could say things in a way that was understandable by all who listened. Glad you guys collaborate man.

Thank you for the free lessons. Definitely things I will use in my vacation of working on my own stuff. I'm going to buy your course. Do you do a hands on where you are?
Thank you for the education.
I was a spray painter at Kansas City Assembly in 78. We sprayed thousands of Wimbledon White trucks that year. Maybe I helped paint that one.
Wouldnt that be cool!!!! ifit was you, you did a great job!!!
@@paintucation - It was a team effort. Ford used a 3-coat wet-on-wet process in 78 and there were 10 to 12 painters in the booth.
I remember watching Kevin on TV on Sundays, He taught us how to do your own bed liner in your truck. Way back in the day. Gave me Inspiration to do my own and turned out great. Thank you
Thank you Bill!
Am i the only one missing sound i the small clips where kevin is sitting down and talking?? Regards sören from denmark
Thanks, Kevin and Derek. Still learning at 61!
We never stop learning!!!

Glad this collaboration with Derek is paying benefits. Estimating you had about 100 man hours over the 4 days at (CA) shop rates that's between $15k and $20K in labor not including materials.
