VGG OBS Front Suspension is DONE!!!! I made big mistakes!
The truck is finally dropped!! It looks cool! Not too deep in the weeds, just lowered enough to be sporty!!! Along the way I made a few blunders, but we recovered, and I show you how I fixed it. This sets the foundation of what's guaranteed to be a badass Street Truck!!! I absolutely love the @ridetechtv Ride Tech adjustable Coil over Suspension!!! @MilwaukeeTool helped out a bunch too! and we show you some Old-school techniques along the way. ( Cause I'm Old...) I don't know if all the OBS trucks are the same, but my 96 are 12mm x 1.5 . I wondered if the shoulders on the nuts were too long and had bottomed out on the hub, but it didn't look like it. I would think you'd be able to see evidence of that. Sasquatch...LOL Speaking of...I'm sure that bolt you found he said something like "I'll never see that again." You ought to save it for him. Nice Packard in the background. Oh, and I think a guy named Murphy was in on that meeting with Einstein and Newton. He was the one that suggested the "thing" should roll, bounce or skid under the dead center of the vehicle or as far under the workbench or cabinet as possible. Nice work on a great suspension. I think I missed the rear suspension. I'll have to go back and check. Have a good one!

Great job on using the mistake of the rotor thickness as a teachable moment! You and your content are real and vulnerable - both attributes of a great teacher!! Now for my nitpick. As a former military aircraft maintenance instructor, the use of proper tools is bugging me (why are we using adjustable wrenches?!? 😂). Also the method used for installation of a cotter key is bugging me. Tool usage is pretty cut and dry - use what's available... and I'm just as guilty of it. Everything is a hammer if we try hard enough, right? 😁 As for cotter key installation, there's two ways that people show how to do it, and only one way we taught our students as the proper way when securing a castle nut. That method takes a few more seconds, but it looks better, is more secure, and is even easier to remove. The cotter key needs to fully insert into the castle nut 'grooves', which requires the cotter key head to be installed parallel with the bolt shank. The longer end of the cotter pin is pulled up over the center of the bolt shank and trimmed to terminate in the middle of the bolt shank. The short end is bent down over the nut and trimmed to stop at the bottom of the of the nut. This is how we were taught for aircraft maintenance, which may be overkill for automotive maintenance. Safety wire pliers are awesome at pulling cotter keys. As always, I love the content. Keep up the great work!!

Clint, First, thanks for watching! secondly a sincere thank you for the detailed instruction on cotter ( keys) commonly referred to as "pins" That is going into my personal file-vault of "the right way to do it" I have mad-respect for Military Instructors... my Father-in -law was a Navy Chief & 20 year electronics instructor ( as well as a WW2 veteran) and I learned so much from him over the years... As far as the adjustable wrench... I please "no-Contest" LOL! Thanks for the comment! I'll take it in the right spirit! Thanks for being a part of this! KT

I've been doing this as long as you have.... that being said PUT THE ADJUSTABLE WRENCHES IN THE BOTTOM DRAWER WHERE THEY BELONG! Us the correct sized wrench for those nuts so that you don't distort them with a loose wrench. I understand the new rotors and brakes idea, but I would never let a busted stud go either. it's only $2 to fix it and do it right for the next guy. C'mon man, I've looked up to you for many years. Kevin, you should always put the bolts head to the front of the vehicle. If the nut ever came off at least the bolt would still keep the suspension arms in place and wont fall apart on the interstate. Gravity and momentum kinda thing there. It is just good practice if nothing else! Thanks for another great video!
