I've had my T100 since new in 2017. It's been faultless and always bring a smile to my face. You mentioned a problem adjusting the final drive chain. This can be overcome by getting a mate to sit on the bike, which compresses the suspension and allows clearance to the axle nut and adjusters. A fantastic bike which your review did justice to. Thank you
Ive had one for six years. It’s a great bike. The center stand and heated grips are nice add ons. I’ve done big miles on camping trips with it loaded down, I thought it was a blast and no trouble. Commuting to work every day and riding with friends. It checks all the boxes for what I wanted and I’ve not been disappointed. And I’ve never had an issue with reliability even once in 25k miles.
I have a 2013 T100, great bike and always puts a smile on your face, you can either have a steady bimble around or go mad and throw it into the bends, and it just keeps coming back for more. Handling with a set of Avon Roadriders is insane. Would I upgrade to a newer model. Never as I love that bike😊
I had a 2020 T100 and traded it for a Tiger 850 Sport. I really missed the T100. I tested a T120, but found the gearing too tall for me. I just picked up a 2022 T100. For me It's a perfect bike.
A stunning bike that comes with a good reputation, but the Moto Guzzi V7 has the character, uniqueness and heritage that I was seeking when I decided to upgrade my bike. It's just that little more special in my part of the world (Australia).
I have a 2014 T100. I have several bikes for long distance touring here in the States. My Triumph is the most fun and the best looking with its red on black paint scheme. I put Progressive shocks on the rear and replaced the stock fork springs with progressive springs. I have a Corbin solo seat with rack on it, bar end mirrors and Triumph waxed saddle bags. I think my bike is better looking than the new ones, as I don’t like the look of the radiator. It handles well, gets up to 58 mph, and needs little maintenance.
Same 2024 Black Speedtwin 900 216kg so 12kg lighter than T100 & Speedtwin 900 has 4pot Brembo on front as T100 only has a 2pot Brembo.Easily cruise at 70mph all day everyday & tour on it no problem I do.Cruise at 80mph if on 80mph Motorway in USA but has more vibes than 1200 6 speed which be better on 80mph Motortway.High Torque engine is fabulous.
Great review Rob, I think I'll take at look at the T120 now. Although your 1200RS review has been tickling my brains for a couple of weeks. Thx , keep it up !
I have had my 2021 for nearly a year now. It came with a centre stand and I have added cruise control and heated grips and the T120’s seat for extra comfort. My friend has a 2018 T120. You do notice the considerable difference in power between the two but the T100 has as much power as you need really. It’s a lot more nimble than the T120 too. I have toured on my T100 (2000kms over 5 days) and it’s definitely up to the task as well as being an awesome commuter. My friend and I both hardly ever used the 6th gear on his T120 so I do think that point is moot. My fav bike after my old CB1100EX got written off.
I love my 2023 T 100, you’re right about the shocks I did the fox shocks in the rear and the ohlins in the front and that made a big difference, and also a titanium decat x pipe made it sound even better. Also have a Motone fork brace.👍
Just to add here .. The Scrambler 900 's heigh pipe is an easy alternative for doing the chain work and the 19 inch front wheel is great on the gravel back lanes .. Mine has the center stand , heated grips and a home made wooden pannier for rain and winter gear .. I like the better gas milage of the 900 motor though the Scrambler tank only gets around 170 miles of range .. The 5 speed gear box is also a favorite part of this bike ...
Bought a 21 demonstrator in 22. Added centre stand, dresser bars, heated grips, cruise control and power plug. Great bike, torque is the secret sauce and the 900 engine is a bit smoother than the T120. Both the T100 and T120 are great all-round bikes. I have a pair of Moto Skivees padded trunks for long days out on the bike. Cheaper than replacing the seat. I wish Triumph would fit a 6 speed box to the T100 to drop the revs at motorway speeds.
I think I'd rather have the high torque over the high horse power. If you want to put bags and an extra seat, some supplies I would think the high torque is what you want. 900 is a solid engine. I don't think one could go wrong with this beautiful ride.
Absolutely loved my T100, bought it as I got a good second hand deal the same price as a new Interceptor, and at the time it felt much faster and refined. If I was to buy another I would go T120 though, I do a lot of long distance riding around New Zealand and that 6th gear and extra power for overtaking is essential. Sold it as I was building a house and needed money*
The BEST modern classic. Has throttle assist and the handling at slow speeds make it an excellent first bike. Combines classic looks with heritage to the older Bonnies
Re the weight saving vs the old model, saw a comment from an American customer on a recent review on this bike who said this was because quite a few items that were standard on the old bike are now optional extras! I can’t remember all the details but a centre stand and passenger grab rail were amongst the items! Very cheeky of Triumph to strip items off the bike, turn them into £ optional extras and claim a weight saving 😂
I don’t think the centre stand or grab rail were standard on the T100 from its update and release in 2017. Wasn’t it it the T120 that had these as standard? - it was I think one of the differentials between the two models. My 2020 had to have a centre stand fitted and a luggage rack fitted as neither came part of stock T100 out of the factory.
@@ianbaines9705 Yes, you are absolutely correct. I also own a 2020 T100, and am familiar with them from 2017 onwards. The comment above about Triumph stripping parts off the T100 is incorrect. And yes, the 2021 onwards T100 saves weight in part by using alloy rims instead of steel. I do wish some people would not post hearsay and incorrect information.
Many parts were stripped from the T120 in 2021 including the centre stand, passenger grab rail, radiator guard, and heated grips. The T100 being less equipped in its original spec had less removed in the refresh, but it still lost its radiator guard. Only the T120 got the aluminium wheels. Germaine to this topic are the smaller cost cutting measures after ‘21, like less ornate frame bolts, the removal of the injection rail beauty covers, and a plastic oil filler cap as opposed to the chrome one found on earlier models. Of course the gen2 bikes have performance enhancements to the engine, brakes, and suspension. Gen1 and gen2 both great options with slightly different offerings.
I had a 2017 T100 (first of the water cooled 900s). Great bike but the seat was only good for an hour - gel pad under the cover fixed that, and it was over geared, making it reluctant to rev. Added one tooth to the back which helped but two would have been better. The extra 10 ponies on the newer ones are probably great but it never felt under powered for the great all rounder it was.
Had a 2017 model for over 5 years great bike, best mpg was 83, better engine than the 1200cc IMO and a 5 speed box, chain adjustment is a pain but overall very nice bike. The cooling fan does not come on as much as my 1200cc speed twin in the summer months (UK). What I don't understand is why Triumph are making the new models with black engine cases it makes the models look dull sad and boring. Great bike though.
I love the T100, I had a 2013 Red & White that I really regret selling. Although I'm happily on a Royal Enfield now. I really miss the pre-2016 air / oil-cooled models. The exhaust emissions setup on the current models is really tricky to mod (by design, I understand), need an x-pipe and more expensive to de-cat (necessary mod IMO / for me). But yes a legendary bike, my favorite Triumph and perhaps I'll have another someday.
Looked at these for a while but was ultimately put off by the lack of authenticity. Made in Thailand (but still expensive), fake carbs (T120), fake cooling fins (water cooled). Triumph on their website tries to emphasise how genuine it is, but it isn’t. To my mind all these things matter when making a purchase like this. That’s why I went with the Moto Guzzi V7 Special which is made in Italy (same factory since 1971), properly air cooled, plus with 21 litre tank and shaft drive.
the t100 & t120 look very similar, i wished there was a scrambler 1200-variant, that looks like the 900 scrambler (especially for the 19" front and more retro than offroad design)
Would lean to the 900 over the 1200 for every day use, but the older 865cc does a great job (also has the classic 360 degree crank on the Bonnie and Thruxton) and can be had for less.
Tried a T100 several months ago in Madrid. I realized in 5 minutes that this bike is a delight. Enough power, smoooooth, torquey engine, ergonomics, classic look... the perfect bike. When I asked for the price I was disappointed and equally angry: 11.500€ does not make it a value proposition. As a consecuence, I am continuing with my Yamaha XSR900 and enjoy its lightness, beefy engine, superb quality and modern classic look.
Centre stand, cruise control (which can even be seen in more affordable triumph motorcycles), 6th gear, full LED and usb c charging port should be standard already. I wish new blue + chrome color will also be available.
I had a t120 2020 good for longer rides and touring the a 900 2021 great all rounder due to injuries now got the new speed 400 triumph which does just a good job as the 900 but lighter and cheaper still great review 🤙
I test rode the 400 and 900 back to back, I think which works for you depends on the type of rider you are looking for. The 400 is pretty aggro and vibey, the 900 is buttery smooth and laid back by comparison. If you purely want price to performance the 400 is a no brainer, if you want refinement maybe less so (although the price difference is massive!)
@ yes the 400 is a bit vineyard at first? As it’s a single! But massively smoother after a couple of thousand miles and a service! I went from the t120 then 900 and now the 400 purely on weight and living with it due to my injuries moving it about ect!! Ride safe 👍
I’ve had a 2018 Street Twin and a ‘22 Speedmaster. I just put a deposit on the ‘25 T100 Icon edition, but must say I’m struggling with the decision to move up to the T120. Guess it comes down to if the extra money is worth it.
It is the same engine. The frame is a bit larger on T100. (20mm longer wheelbase). That gives a bit more open riding position. Otherwise it is almost the same bike.
Can you get engine guards for that bike? I think that would be better to put generic highway pegs on there. Like the Speed Master had factory floorboards as accessories, excellent I think!
I owned a 2009 Thruxton for ten years with several different exhaust and a Thruxton R 1200 for over eight years with a few different exhausts too. Several videos on my channel with sounds of both.
@flatcapcaferacer I've seen videos where it appears the 900 sounds more aggressive, and the 1200 more toned down but wanted an owners perspective. Subscribed to your channel as well.
@@mattwilliams9758 as my dad own ST900 for 4 years with over 10k km. I would say it's pretty reliable brand. Expensive parts and service but it stays strong. Just don't drop it.
It’s easy to say if you want more power you should look at the 1200 but this is still a 900cc motorcycle and for a 900 it’s underpowered. Even with the torque tune. And it’s frustrating because it’s intentional. I LOVE my 900 Scrambler but it’s obviously and often irritatingly underpowered.
@@bikegeist there’s various ways round this tbf. yes it’s not ideal but it shouldn’t be a deal breaker… I’ve owned mine since 2018 and it’s my go-to ride. It’s just a great bike!
It is a concern. I have a T120, a recent flat left me stranded and killed a day getting the bike back home. Tubeless would have been a 15 minute repair. I only ride the bike locally now. Will either get a set of tubeless rims (very expensive) or sell the bike.
@tompGA This is the nightmare situation that, while I know would be a very rare and unlucky thing to have happen, I don't want to deal with. Especially considering that, as you say, a tubeless tire could be repaired in minutes.
It's a beautiful motorbike, nails the "look" for it's intended market. I'd buy one but l know l can buy a new Interceptor for £5k, the discrepancy right now is just too much.
TBH. For budget riders, T100 is the worse deal for Bonneville 900 lineup. Sure it got T120 style which is very great. But besides that, it's got less amount of options of all 900 Bonnie. Even less than ST900 which is the most strip back and the most cheapest Bonnie you can get. And I not even talk about the latest ST900 that have USD fork. The older generation have more riding modes than T100. That's All combined my dad finally choose ST900 over T100 even though he love T100 style more than ST900.
I think this bike is simplistic on purpose, which is something that was mentioned in the video. ST has a single clock that looks quite plastic. Riding modes? Seriously? I love it, because it doesn't have riding modes, which is something you don't need on a bike like that...
@@fiucik1 actually, for elder riders like my dad(he's 75now) the more assist riding options the better. And yes, he always got to use both riding modes that ST900 provides. And then again that I state at the beginning. "For budget riders". The difference in price of ST900 and T100 could buy another 110cc scooter in my country. That's a lot of money just for style.
@@DarkOperationman "he's 75now) the more assist riding options the better", Well your Dad is a unicorn mate {with all due respect}, I know a lot of riders over 70 and i can guarantee you most of them detest rider aids, they never grew up with them and they've never needed them... Tec products UK do a good value center stand and rear carrier along with pannier rails. I find my `21 euro 5 T100 a bit porky/heavy and dull compared to my Norton 750 Commando and it is slower round the twisties. It is a bit like a Mondeo , good at everything but does not stir the soul. It is likely my age. As for touring the handbook DOES NOT recommend any panniers, quaint/strange. Even so I cobbled on some Craven panniers and topbox and colour coded the lids to match the tank. I hardly used it last summer. I enjoyed the review. Just to say most Euro 5 models have tamper proof ecu`s , so upgrades are limited.
So they've put a new cartridge in the front forks? (need more info on this)... and they've removed a load of previously stock items to reduce weight! Good job Trump!! 🤦♂

I had a 2013 model. Loved how it looked I just felt it a bit sluggish and very heavy. Shame as it was a beautiful looking bike
very nice bike
Does the older Thruxton 900 engine sound better than the newer 1200 engines?
I owned a 2009 Thruxton for ten years with several different exhaust and a Thruxton R 1200 for over eight years with a few different exhausts too. Several videos on my channel with sounds of both.
@flatcapcaferacer I've seen videos where it appears the 900 sounds more aggressive, and the 1200 more toned down but wanted an owners perspective. Subscribed to your channel as well.
I'd prefer T120 because of extra power extra weight is fine better in the wind
What’s the reliability like?
@@mattwilliams9758 as my dad own ST900 for 4 years with over 10k km. I would say it's pretty reliable brand. Expensive parts and service but it stays strong. Just don't drop it.
your videos are great but please try to upgrade to 4k it'll be more awesome
Why didn’t u use the 2025 T100 model since u hav already hav a video about the 25🤔
I think the air cooled Bonneville 865 made 68 horsepower. So if this makes 64 ?
It’s easy to say if you want more power you should look at the 1200 but this is still a 900cc motorcycle and for a 900 it’s underpowered. Even with the torque tune. And it’s frustrating because it’s intentional. I LOVE my 900 Scrambler but it’s obviously and often irritatingly underpowered.
I rode the T100 for half an day i absolute hated it, got the 1200xe instead which was night and day
👍🏼
The tubed tyres on this and the T120 make them a non-starter even though I would love to have one.
@@bikegeist there’s various ways round this tbf. yes it’s not ideal but it shouldn’t be a deal breaker… I’ve owned mine since 2018 and it’s my go-to ride. It’s just a great bike!
Yeah.. the bike is awesome but those lil things like leds and tubeless can still be done while keeping the look and authenticity
I don’t mind the tubed tires. Not a big deal.
I'm in my 60's and have never even thought about them, again, I never will either....
@@MickH60 unfortunately for my dad. He just started riding at 72. So it's great to have more options. If money isn't an issue, he would get T120 eventually.
@@MickH60 I heartily agree with you. I am 72 years old, have been riding since 1972. I have a ‘97 Honda Valkyrie, BMW 1200RT, recently sold my 1994 BMW 1100RS and have a 2014 T100. My T100 is the most fun and the best looking bike in my garage. I hate all the tech crap and in 10-20 years try to get those electronic stuff repaired. I love actual gauges and not an IPod looking thing on my machine. Also, I have worn my tires to within 1/2” of the chicken strip and recently did a 10 day run through the French Alps with wife on back.
T100 is great, but the T120 is better.
Every single bike should have a centre stand come on what’s going on here😮
As Always UK is the best Only UK.😂
Ya buy the t120 and you'll be happy for life lol.
That bike runs hot, fan constantly on. De-cat is a must so it can breathe, then it's magic.
Contender for my next bike as I maybe down sizing 😊
I just wish there's still T100 Black option.
Stealth Version then
Buy second hand? ;)
Love your channel but why fork? There are 2. That means forks with an ‘s’ which is plural. Rear shock yes. Fork NO. Stop it and have a bit of a command of the language that is supposed to be native to you. Love the channel but make an effort!
Overpriced to the max. No usd forks? Single disk? Yeah that's a no for me.
No usd forks? Single disc? Yea, because the other bikes in this category, like Moto Guzzi V7 or RE Interceptor 650 got it? But hey, being clueless is legal, so...
Single disk means lighter steering and handlng over a twin disk T120
@@fiucik1you can buy a street triple for that money let alone a decent R1. You are clueless my man. Or a trident maybe with way better brakes and suspension?
@@Derpderpson123 It's a modern retro bike, it's designed for a relaxed riding on a B roads, it's not a performance oriented bike. Can you comprehend such a concept, or it is too much for your limited, narrow mind...
@@fiucik1I’ve ridden more bikes than you ever will, keep buying these underpowered gutless bikes my man, more power to ya!
Cheerio
