Bride-to-be Amy is a full-time mum, but she wants to look nothing like a mum for one day when she gets married. Her mum has a big wish that Amy would wear her vintage, cowboy-style wedding dress on her big day. But, the bride is not afraid to say what she thinks of the dress and claims she would like to burn it and never wear it again.

Not really, if the mother's were that attached to their dresses they would just let it go and let their daughters choose their own dress. It's completely stupid to see old vintage dresses = 'reworked' badly because some grown-ass women want to live their wedding day again through their daughters. Stop already- they've had their day- they should let their daughter have their happiness instead of being emotionally coerced into something they do not want.

The new dress was pretty, but when she came out in her moms' dress, I did not think there was any choice to be made. She would have been crazy to not use it! Beautifully done!
The mother's remade dress is so much better than the other dress. It's so beautiful and has sentimental value - what's the hard part?
The hard part is that it is not what the bride wants - and emotionally bullying someone is not what you do
(Not in this episode but most of the time) The remake dresses are usually...pretty ugly and are not at all what the bride wants. Besides. even if it's the prettiest dress, if you're dead set on celebrating with your own things (which is something just as valuable), you will pick the new dress.

I might have picked the something new if I hadn't hated that slit so much. The something borrowed looked good, but it was transformed so much there wasn't much of the original dress anymore.
What i liked best were the dresses the mother wore to the two appointments!
There's never much of the original dress in them, or the original is used to line the dress...like with this one. Using a few appliques doesn't make this mom's dress.
The new dresses were just no. The remade dress is gorgeous. I am so glad she picked the something borrowed it looks soooo much better. I do not know how she got bombshell out of that other dress. The something borrowed dress took her to goddess level
She should wear the old dress for the ceremony, so she can say that she got married in it and can still pass it on to her daughter. Then wear the new dress for the reception.

The new was okay but looked like an evening gown that her black-tie guests would be wearing. The old dress was gorgeous and looked like a wedding gown.

FINALLY!! I’ve never seen someone choose something borrowed on this show so it was starting to get predictably boring! Way to go Amy, that was the right choice. It’s a beautiful dress and also speaks to the value you also put on sentiment and relationships.
In all fairness, this is the first time the something borrowed was actually nice. Most of the time, they look ill-fitting and just....no.

I absolutely love the mom in this episode, such a good sport. So many of the moms try guilting/pressuring their daughters or get mad at Kelly for cutting up the dress. But this mom was excited and all for it getting totally transformed to be what it needs to be for her daughter, and yet she still supported her love for the new dress too.

I really don't know anyone who lived in the eighties like me, who looks back at at their pictures without cringing and laughing about the fashion and hairstyles. What classics came from the eighties? I can see a 30's, 50's or 70's wedding dress being cute again, but never the 80's. I wouldn't dare giving my daughter (if I had one) the idea she would need to please me wearing something I liked 40 years ago on HER wedding day. But I LOVE repurposing old stuff especially with this kind of sentimental and turning it into something fresh and stunning.

I didn’t like the remade dress because of all of the threads sticking out on the straps & neckline. That part looked cheap. I think the dress looks great on her BUT the new dress just spoke to me more & looked more chic. Totally understand the emotional pull to the remake though!
It wasn't loose threads, it was the applique design. They often have a picot or looped trim, especially from the 70s.

the designer who remakes the dresses don't know how to take care of the old material, at lest first time she uses the sissor informt of the real owner to "shock them".

Honestly, the something borrowed is a little tight around her midsection. I think the something new dress is way more flattering on her figure.

The remade dress was not a good remade, it didn’t have an illusion back because it was white instead of skin color, and the fit made her look like a rectangle, they needed to fit it more at the waist, also the train being whiter than the rest of the dress and the straps being more bone color, a total disaster.

There’s really nothing special about the new dress. So there’s a slit in the front. Meh. The borrowed is AMAZING. The back is stunning. It’s sexy, but classy and sentimental. It’s no contest- she made the right choice.

Some of these brides are cruel to their mom's dresses.
Most of the time, the brides are bullied into wearing mom's dress, so it's warranted.
I actually LOVED her mom’s dress, to me it was hippie all around, I would wear it with a big floppy hat with white flowers. Not saying that the transformed dress isn’t gorgeous, but the original 🥰. The new one with the slit is nothing special.
The bride is so rude to her mother! There’s a way to say it nicely, like, “mom, this was gorgeous on you, but I’m looking for a different style”.

The remade borrowed dress is pretty, but I think key should have used a different type of lace. I don’t think that lace pattern is flattering on the bride.

I didn’t like either one really. But only having to spend 1,000.00 on the old was would have made me choose that one. 😅. I actually like the old one the way it was and if was just fitted to her it would have looked nice (of course I know not her style).
Agreed. The borrowed has no structure and no shape at the waist or hem. It looks very amateur and cheap. Not at all black tie, either.
thay should actually put a belt with glitter like the bomshell dress on the borowed dress that would really be stunning and make her also look sexy within her middle that is kindof put together😊

I did not watched the descision yet, but: The something new showed her curves, very elegant. The something borrowed somehow eliminated her curves and looks like a dress that a teenage girl chose with her own little money. The fabric was beautiful, though. But basically it looked like a beach gown.
