I gotta say.. barrel racing takes skill. People say they don't like it because they are rough on their horses, but not all barrel racers are. Besides, every discipline can be rough on their horse. Any barrel racers reading this, you got skill!

There are so many comments on how barrel racing is awful but in truth its not most of the horse love doing it. my horse enjoys it so much I hardly need to kick her all I have to do is cluck and kiss at her and she runs. I never beat my horses if she does something wrong I won't beat or whip or be abuse at all. All I do is lung her and she's good.

Ay. For me, as a Western rider, English riders (in general) are a lot more stricter and even more aggressive when it comes to training their horses. But it pays off because you guys look so graceful.
I know this is late. Don't pay attention to who has better times, or how good they are. Take your time in learning :) I know a 6 year old that runs 15.60 but the thing is her parents just put her on a REALLY nice horse and she just hangs on mostly. But as long as you are working, you're going to win :) I hope you had fun!!!

Automatic horse? My friend has never hit a barrel but she doesn’t have a horse that needs you to ride like my horse I have to ride him but he’s automatic
@@angelmoen502 true I’ve been riding for years and have had horses duck,buck,not run,drop, and everything my old trainer got me a horse who wasn’t a barrel horse then got me a Frenchman’s guy horse and so I changed trainers sold both those horses and I have a pretty automatic horse he’s 21 I have him bc my trainer says “sally you have earned this horse you need to be rewarded for you not giving up after everything you’ve been through” that’s the reason I have that gelding

I run a 21 year old and everyone is so amazed when I say he’s 21 cause he runs like he’s way younger the vet said nothing is wrong with him he just has a small bone that is a bit over grown but it doesn’t hurt him or cause anything me and him are going to the BBR and the race of the champions then I’m trying to qualify for the jr American with him but we can’t anymore cause the rest of the quilters are done
Jennifer Walker it looks like they aren't going fast bc it's so easy for them. They have long strides. When in reality they are running like 13 secs and if they r at CS running like 17 secs👌
I've always thought the chorus suited the sport well. I even listen to it when I'm riding. When I was growing up, my mom listened to nothing BUT rap. We'd pull up to a barrel race with the windows down (our truck didn't have air conditioning), blasting Ludacris and the like. It's not like it mattered. You're all getting unnecessarily pissy over a song.
JayDIY Whats it matter? Its music, when I did rodeo riding bulls i always listened to tupac or metal. Stuff that gets you pumped, now as a cattle hauler I listen to the same because country puts me to sleep on those long nights
