You can't open the Blighttown entrance in the Depths from the inside. I've seen people go through all of Blighttown backwards only to find they have to turn around and go back.
I think the crystal weapons just exist because the gaping dragon has such a massive health pool and if you got down there without upgrading your weapons you're going to have a bad time and going up from the depth to the blacksmith is a chore, so having weapons available here that are a significant upgrade but will have to be discarded was a good failsafe.
3:28 i’m sure it’s a glitch i don’t know about not working properly or something but jumping off a cliff and dying and going “why did that kill me?” is really funny
5:02 - Quelaag skip off the top of my head: - Enter Quelaag's fog gate and quit out/boneward home. This is solely to trigger the cutscene. - From the lowest Blighttown bonfire, head up the main Blighttown pathways and up either one or two ladders, near where you pick up the Wanderer's set and Falchion. - Find a walkway with three pots on the edge. Carefully break them without walking into them (there is a deathcam + death trigger close by). - Inch closer to the edge, like microscopic steps. There's very little distance between the deathcam and killplane. You'll want to make contact with the deathcam trigger, then backstep away immediately. Your idle animation can hit the killplane. - Traverse down the way you came, then head back to Quelaag's Domain. Walk through her boss room, then quit out some distance behind it. You can "eyeball" it with practice, but I never got that far, so I just sang "Happy Birthday" once her boss HP bar popped up, and quit out when I finished the song. DO NOT REST AT ANY BONFIRES PAST THE BOSS IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SOFTLOCKING YOURSELF. You can technically escape it by performing a grab-glitch warp on a certain rockworm, and using the oob terrain to bypass Firesage, fight the Centipede Demon, and warp from the Bed of Chaos room, but it's annoying and difficult and makes my teeth hurt.
I think if the Crystal Greatsword and the Crystal Sword were available right away and didnt have stat requirements that might make them more appealing, a weapon with fairly good base damage for the early game makes it so my damage isnt tied to my stats as much giving me breathing room to invest in health or stamina etc similar to a dragon weapon but by the time you get to domhall you can have like a what +7 weapon and have already invested into your weapon category stats pretty heavily so
I tried once to go backwards from blight town into the depths. A very entertaining way of accomplishing nothing. But now Blighttown is my favourite area in Dark Souls! The first half is genuinely interesting to explore It feels a bit weird to use the Izalith skip, given that you'd have to use durability to farm the humanity. edit: nvm.
@@shurley96 that's not how fall damage works, unfortunately. Fall damage does increase with equip load, but I was at full health, and a survivable fall will always be survivable with full health.
#1 this is a fire video Idea and thank you for not scripting the video, my main gripe with challenge runs is whenever they do the montage, I wanna hear people talk not look at you beat a boss #2 suggestion, can you beat ds1 with only the gravelord sword, it’s a covenant weapon being only 1 of 3 (the other two being the dark wraith weapons which you and lemon have done runs on) yet despite that it is upgraded with demon titanite, making it a pseudo boss weapon for nito (due to it acquisition being joining the gravelord covenant)
Yeah I was gonna say I've used Gravelord sword for a whole playthrough and it was extremely easy. You don't even need to fully upgrade it all the way for it to be busted strong, if I remember right.
@@PomPomMeowMeow tbh I thought it was like the drake sword in that it falls off after the gargoyles, guess it makes sense it doesn’t since it’s not a dragon weapon
to be fair the Crystal Greatsword is a fine weapon (like D+ ti C- imo). crystal straight sword is actually better imo tho, it has higher DPS and only a bit lower damager per hit. considering how little durability you actually lost you might have had a better time with the straight sword
as a randomizer runner I have had to do reverse blighttown several times, I once figured I'd check since I was up there anyways. I can personally confirm it is NOT possible to open that gate from the other side.
You can't climb up through blighttown to get into the depths if you didn't come from there. I tried once a while back because i had used the master key to get to quelaag and didn't feel like doing capra. Besides missing the blighttown key from gaping dragon i'm not sure if the prompt even showed up for me, but i think it didn't. the door would not open either way so i went and did capra
my problem with the crystal weapons isnt the lack of durability, its the fact that they dont have much to justify the low durability. I think they would be more interesting if they had a combination of higher damage and lower durability so they could function as a powerful weapon that you could only use for a small portion of the game you were struggling with. Especially if more of their damage was base damage rather than scaling, to help contribute to that temporary weapon feeling. Having them almost act as a consumable weapon would be interesting, but maybe thats just because i like weird weapons that force you to think about them differently.
exactly this! i feel like they should have the damage output and lack of scaling that the dragon tail weapons have, alongside the low durability, and the tail weapons should occupy some different niche instead.
im pretty early but scripted or not scripted your videos are great :3 i enjoy the commentary with no script tho too its chill ^.^ plus idk about other people but i like hearing your thoughts in real time!!
that big sword guy on the bridge in front of priscilla has killed me so many times, i was shocked when you said you dont think its ever killed you before
if nito didn't have his skeletons he would be a nice boss to fight... I basically mostly die to the skeletons and depending on build I can't really do anything as I usually don't play tanks, so any light armor setup is highly risky for me.
at least for a casual playthrough, the durability issue is kind of a non issue since you can just buy another one. basically 6000 souls or however much it is to repair it lol cool run though. was really surprised just how little durability it lost
