NEW FOR 2022: The lineup gets a new Carbon Edition this year. It includes the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, Polymetal Gray Metallic paint, gloss-black accents on the wheels and side mirrors, red leather interior, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. The Mazda Mazda3 is easily one of the most fun compact cars you can drive. There's a choice of sedan or hatchback with a range of three responsive engines. There are all-wheel-drive choices for those who live in more wintry climates. All those possible configurations make it easy to find a version of the Mazda3 that suits your needs. Its sharp handling is paired with a smooth, quiet ride and a comfortable interior that surrounds passengers in high-quality trims. Though Mazda isn't a luxury brand, its top models often push into luxury territory. Our biggest gripe with this fun little car is the infotainment system. It features a rotary controller with no touchscreen; it takes a bit of time to get used to and is a challenge for passengers.
The Honda Civic has fewer trims and a less upscale interior, but is similarly fun to drive and costs less. The Toyota Corolla nine-trim range includes a hybrid and more affordable pricing. The Subaru Impreza has only four trims with lower pricing but doesn't boast the same smooth ride or elegant interior.

just bought a Mazda3 premium 2.5 non turbo AWD Sedan (Made in Mexico). After living with it for a month I noticed the driver's and passenger doors don't line up, the front bumper doesn't sit flush against the fenders, there was loose plastic bits inside the trunk rattling, handling is not the best due to rear torsion beam unless you drive on a flat non windy road. The car is nice and I want to enjoy it but sometimes I regret buying it.

No offense but unless you're taking this thing out on the track or something, 99% of drivers wouldn't even notice the torsion beam. EVeryone is just salty over that.

@@bobbystubblefield6723 The torsion beam isn't noticeable to the vast majority of drivers. I own two Mazda 3s and I frequently drive windy mountain roads. Its handling is impeccable and torsion beam not noticeable, even when I'm really pushing those corners. Perhaps you didn't go into it with an open mind and you think you're noticing the torsion beam due to something similar to the placebo effect. After owning the 4th gen Mazda 3 for nearly three years now, I just don't get what anyone is upset about with the torsion beam. This car handles beautifully! Both my 3s were made in Mexico. I also don't have the problem you describe with the panels not lining up. Both my 3s have been the absolute best cars I've ever owned.

Another Mazda advantage not mentioned: six-speed automatic, NOT CVT as in Corolla and Civic. Also, your resale value estimates ignore the current market where vehicles have sold for more $$ than identical new models for the past year. KBB says my 2021 Turbo Premium Plus private party value is $35,765. I paid $33,895 ($34,895 sticker minus $1,000 factory incentive) one year ago. I’m not shopping for a car so you can skip replying with your spam link.

Corolla, Civic, Sentra, Elantra all have CVTs and outsell the Mazda 3, does Mazda even sell EVs, hybrids or pickup trucks? Boring and outdated car brand........

Yes better to have 6 spd. Traditional 6 spd. Automatic over CVT. OR Even better 6 spd. Manual transmission that Is still offerred where Toyota Corolla is discontinuing 6spd. manual for CVT ONLY.🤢🤮

Think twice before you buy a Mazda 3. There are quality issues. At the very least, make sure the Mazda 3 you buy has been made in Japan, not in Mexico. I bought a 2021 Mazda 3 Select Sedan, non-turbo 2.5 liter (made in Mexico) back in November of 2021. My car now has 6,100 miles on it. Issues with rattles, buzzes, and groans coming from the dashboard have been neverending, since around 4,000 miles. The interior may look nice, but the interior materials are of low quality, very susceptible to differences in temperature. For example, in the summer, there are groans and rubbing noises that come from the driver-side area of the dashboard and in the area of the display screen. In the fall and winter, in lower temperatures, buzzing and rattling noises come from the passenger-side area of the dashboard, near the glovebox, and from the driver's side B-pillar. Also, the plexiglass cover that protects the instrument cluster is extremely susceptible to scratching. You literally cannot clean it with a microfiber cloth and plastic cleaner without it scratching. Other Mazda 3 owners have complained of this issue, with some having the cover replaced under warranty. Finally, Mazda still uses very thin exterior paint, which dings and scratches very easily. And, if you have the tri-color pearl white paint that my car has, there is no available touch up paint that accurately matches the original paiint. I have not had any mechanical issues yet, but I'm mad as hell having to drive a car that has such a crap dashboard. My 2012 Chevy Sonic had a more solid and quiet dashboard. Maybe Mazda 3s assembled in Japan don't suffer from such issues (but I think only Mazda 3 Premium editions are assemgled in Japan). I doubt it, though; I really think it's a matter of the quality of the materials and paints used. So, don't listen to Mazda fanboys. Take my opinion into account, as well as the opinions of others, on Mazda forums and on Edmunds, who have experienced issues similar to mine.

I have a 2021 Mazda 3 e skyactiv x made in Japan and can honestly say I have no rattles bangs or squeaks whatsoever, it is constantly praised here in the UK for the quality of the interior with many reviewers and testers saying it is at least the equal of Audis and BMWs, so either you have been very unlucky or Japanese built cars are far superior to ones manufactured in Mexico and at the prices you pay for cars $22,000 dollars! for a new Mazda 3 I'm not surprised they cut corners mine cost the equivelent of $37,000 on the road here in England so perhaps they have cut corners on the quality of the materials on cars sold in the US and Canada. Click on a video by Auto social uk to see what I mean, she loved the car and could not praise it higher.

@@bobbystubblefield6723 Wow. As far as the exterior bodywork on my 3, I think I'm ok, other than the thin exterior paint. But that's the thing with 'Assembled in Mexico'. No offense to Mexicans, but being underpaid can lead to poor and/or inconsistent build quality as a result of apathetic workers. For that reason, if I had known my 3 had been built in Mexico, I wouldn't have bought it. I really wanted a car 'Made in Japan' (after owning a 'Made in USA' Chevy Sonic). Then again, my issues could be a result of the quality of Mazda materials. At least no mechanical issues yet, and I'm at 8,600 miles. Since my original post, I've developed a buzz in my left door panel, near the window, that goes away if I push on the top of the door panel. Like I said, interior noises come and go based on temperature. Be careful how you clean the clear plastic cover over the instrument panel. Over time, as a result of cleaning it, it will probably develop fine spider-like scratches that will become noticeable in direct sunlight. It doesn't seem to matter how carefully you clean it. Use a can of pressurized air to blow away dirt and dust particles before you attempt to clean it. I did go on E-bay and bought a clear protective film to put over the instrument panel cover. However, before I put on the film, I am going to try and remove the scratches with Meguiar's plastic polish.

My 2016 made in Mexico Mazda3 doesn't rattle at all and feels solid with 50k miles. On the other hand, my made in Japan Forester rattles and has only half the miles.
