  • Normanby Island sits 10km east of the Russel River, just south of Cairns, forming part of the acclaimed Frankland Islands group. This location is home to some great snorkelling with far lower visitor numbers than Fitzroy or Green Island and a far shorter boat trip than any of the other reef cruises in the area.
We travelled here with Frankland Island Cruises in September 2024. We saw a wide range of marine life in easy snorkelling depths including four turtles, clownfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish and giant clams. This tour includes guided snorkelling, a buffet lunch, a semi-sub tour and an island walking tour, and they offer hefty discounts to Cairns locals.
