Especially knowing how big these bois get. Apparently, they can range from 18ft to 23ft wide with the largest, the giant manta ray, reaching about 29ft.

20+ years ago on Maui, I unconsciously swam into a "nest" of rays and got chased. Now I understand they were mating & that's why they "flew" out of the water. I almost died laughing from the event, swimming furiously and laughing! No offense meant, rays!
Beautiful. Scary. Mysterious. Unbelievable. Perfect. There's something in my psyche that folds at the sight of the manta ray, but they live regardless of that. It's humbling.

Bats of the northern americas are only a few ounces and about the soze of mice, while manta rays can be up to 25ft wide and 18 ft. long. Bats are tiny and harmless, where as if these 3,600 lb. behemoths flew in groups through our skies, it would be terrifying.
Manta Rays are one of my favorite animals. They remind me like they are one of the most oldest animals known on earth, and ancestors of other animals while for some reason, still alive today. They're incredibly remarkable creatures. 😊

Hey, its been a couple of years and some new and interesting finds regarding Mantas were made. Hope it interests You: th-cam.com/video/m9J5IIfIaXk/w-d-xo.html
I'm just back from a sail to Lady Eliot Island in the Great Barrier Reef QLD which has 170 resident manta rays. I was dropped in the middle of an area that had many manta rays. As we were snorkelling my buddy and I were approached by 7 large manta rays. They swam past 4 times and the last time the boldest swam straight at us mouth open and deftly missed us by less than 1 metre returning to its course at the surface then swam off. We were hanging in the water as still as we could so as not to startle them and they startled us!! They were very inquisitive and bold in the way they swam up to us and kept returning to us.
Saw a manta ray while diving , almost had the privilege but was too scared because of the size..Regardless, the most beautiful thing I've ever seen & it was so elegant!
They are so beautiful and graceful. Watching them is almost hypnotic. Praise God for all His wondrous works! I pray we can enjoy them for many generations to come.
Matt Nelson Me too! It just turned up right underneath me and I had no idea what it was, so I freaked out and swam back to the rocks. Now that I know they're harmless, I kinda wish I stayed in the water for longer.
I visited Hawaii with my family one time, and while my brother and I were snorkeling, a giant manta ray came close to us and started zooming around. It looked like it was flying through the water and almost showing off for us! It got so close that I could have touched it. It was kind of scary because of its size, but it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life.
