    Eddie Hazel of Parliament Funkadelic was one of the greatest most underrated guitarists ever. Suffering from addiction he died broke. He poured his pain into this masterpiece Maggot Brain. RIP Eddie.

    Wow! Almost 20 years ago. I was 16 when this show was played. I'm 33 now. God I miss going to shows with my friends. I should've soaked up the moments even more! Shit brings a tear to my eye, remembering those days

    People always down played housers guitar skills. He is so subtle and so unique and doesn't need a 20 minute solo. Dude him, JB, and Carlos are all playing off each other. It's not a competition. This was fire and each of them were equally responsible for this beauty....❤

      Yup agreed! Houser was innovative beyond his years, and well beyond what people can understand. This is only my interpretation of what I feel when hearing him play. So what I'm saying is that I openly don't get it! In other words, he rode the mutha fkn sound wave with ease. A constant living breathing feeling of... something big! He prob didn't even get it, but he was blessed to be able to smile while still figuring it out in real time. So much love Mikey, we all love you!!

      It's about playing to the song and making music and conversation on stage. Houser was the quintessential conversationalist

      I know. I read a lot of articles…. People like jimmy, and Trey were infatuated with what Mikey was doing….. they called him crazy fingers

    AWESOME view back in time! Look at that awesome single cut PRS he is ripping instead of his personal model--back before the lawsuit with Gibson. And the dual-rec Mesa half stack--nothing like the powerful tone from a PRS with MESA/BOOGIE!
    Although the tone of a certain 1992 Telecaster-Plus and graceful touches of a volume pedal master was mighty powerful, eh?
    Thanks for posting this man!

    The best version of Maggot Brain ( besides the orgjnal) was Mike Hampton's 1978 live version from Funkadelic's" One Nation Under a Groove " album .
    I do like how its used now as a springboard for improvisatuonal exploration, by whomever is playing it .

    I may have went ot far by saying "easy shit". I can however play the songs and do them jutice as far as playing them like him i also have may went to far cause your right noone could play circles i was angry and wanted to piss him off. I also think Jimmy would admit hes not as good, thats Jimmy though very humble. Just cause Carlos was at woodstock does not mean hes better. His soul and tone and how he can make one note stand out so much is what makes Carlos one of the best---

      Jimmy is amazing, but he's not panic. Jimmy plays the best Jerry I've ever heard. Everyone said Houser sucked as a lead. Housers subtlety is one of a kind, and so was he. He doesn't need big 20 minute guitar solos, he is part of the machine that is widespread panic. I've never seen a band that every member is 100% equal. No egos, just love. Houser is actually killing this shit. It's called respect and teamwork, not a fucking competition. I'm a Houser kid, and I've never seen them the same and never will. Panic loves what they do so fucking much, without fame, just love...my heart 💛

      Jimmy is a great guitar player. It's the difference in space. Jimmy plays hard all the way through. Mikey let the song breathe sometimes. I personally like mikey better for the group. But jimmy is probably a better guitar player.

  • @sniperpeeps
    @sniperpeeps 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mikey is original panic and no one will ever have the same sound...however, Jimmy wouldn't have gotten dominated like that. I mean, Warren Haynes bowed to Jimmy at Wanee because he couldn't keep up with Jimmy....I want to see a Santana Vs Jimmy Maggotbrain rematch!!!!

    • @andypandy2494
      @andypandy2494 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dominated?? R u serious? Everybody thinks Houser is so weak. They are feeling the shit out of eachother. Housers subtlety is always mistaken for weakness. If people would just listen, Houser is amazing, and he is widespread fucking panic...

  • @spreadthepanicful
    @spreadthepanicful 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    But to go as far as saying Jimmy is not even in the same league is down right crazy. Jimmy could not play "circles" around Carlos but he deff could keep right there with him if not some what better. Buts thats my opionion i dont get caught up with how much of a legend someone is. I judge on what i hear and see and the diffuclty of the play and how many variations the guitarist can play. Jimmy will go down as one of the best to ever play right up there with Carlos.

  • @spreadthepanicful
    @spreadthepanicful 12 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    @Reezer83 iv been a producer/musican for over two decades and i can play any of the easy shit that carlos plays just gotta have some soul and the right tone not hard at all, not saying he isnt a legend cause he is but hes old school, and PLEASE if you have a video of someone imitating jimmy herring i would love to hear it because its bull shit, jimmy could play circles around carlos now his tech, timing and speed is out of this world

    • @patking9072
      @patking9072 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kyle Duff but hear is the thing, people wanna hear Carlos play not you. I find your comment absurd.

  • @spreadthepanicful
    @spreadthepanicful 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you even a widespread panic fan? Or did you just come here to see Carlos play maggot brain? If so theres no point in arguing over the net, theres no such thing as agreeing on here. So will just have to agree to disagree. But if your truly a widespread fan than you will realize jimmy is one of the best guitarist on this planet, and that will ever pick up a guitar.
