You have amazing thrifting talent. I really love the idea of thrifting: 1: no mainstream shit 2: unique/special items 3: cheap as hell 4: sustainable BUT! Whenever i try to go thrifting, I only find crusty, smelly, oversized grandma clothes. How the hell do you do it?
it's the location, my local goodwill is super terrible unless you're getting shoes, but the one by my college is great for hypster/Tumblr gay aesthetics. tldr; try thrift stores that are a little farther away and see what you find
Usually I try to look through every section even if I’m not sure I’ll like what’s there or if it’ll fit. I tend to find gems more that way, also location and knowing where to go is important. Old seaside towns are better for shoes and furniture because old people mostly live there, intercity thrift stores can be overpicked but tend to have a lot more variation in what comes in. I like to find ones near the edges of cities, there usually out of the way enough that most people don’t bother, and if there’s a shortage of teens in the town there’s less people looking for “trendy” clothes
Real talk to Ashley: If you're reading this, I just wanna say that existential crisis and all, I feel like you've been putting out your sincerest content lately and I think I speak for a lot of your long-time subscribers when I say your personality, commentary, and fashion sense is refreshing and I think you're only at the beginning of blowing up and really locking down your own brand and the essence of what makes you, you. um you literally just explained to me why i always do the peace signs. a defense mechanism for having no idea what to say or being really uncomfortable. this entire video is a mood.
Do you actually feel guilty about making fashion related videos because you feel they are superficial? I don't think your videos are superficial at all. To me, fashion is a means to express myself, to tell the world who I am, and have fun in the process. Fashion brings more beauty and happiness to my life than all the other "serious" stuff I do, and your videos contribute to that. Your thrift hauls give me many ideas about things I'd like to try wearing because you have a unique sense of style and always come up with some bold choices (like the colorful rubber band shoes). Your clothes altering videos make me get up and dust off my sewing machine. Your how to put together an outfit videos give me so many ideas about how to repurpose my clothes. You manage to do all that while also raising awareness about the unsustainability of the clothing industry and on top of that you have a wonderful personality, so watching your videos is a pleasure. So please don't doubt it. Your videos are important and you are important. But maybe for you it's harder to see from the other side of the screen.
I really hope Ashley reads this top comment because it is SO TRUE. Ashley, you are the person that has helped me break my preconceived notion that fashion is merely superficial and it's just for the "looks" and all of that. Just seeing you have fun, being unapologetic about your choice of garments and styling amazes me because although I knew fashion is about expressing myself and having fun in that process, I couldn't really practice it that way. You show me the ways to enjoy fashion without having to buy $3000 outfits, having to fit in completely with the trend, by just wearing things I like, not what others would say is pretty. Yes, I understand why fashion might seem superficial because I know your passion is screenwriting, movie industries, and all that jazz where they tell stories to move and change people's minds. It seems like there are better things to do in life like saving sad and poor children. Fashion SEEMS like it doesn't have that power. But it truly does. Clothes themselves don't, but the people living in fashion and truly enjoying fashion like you do have that power to make others happy and become more confident - in not just fashion but their everyday lives. Maybe it can't save children or solve the world's problems, but we all deserve a little bit of play time you know ;) I just hope you come to think that fashion is your playground, where you can let go of all the big big dreams and just focus on what makes you happy.
completely sums up what I was thinking. The best videos are ones where the creator is passionate about them, and its so clear in your videos how much you love what you're talking about xx
Everybody cares about Pantone, you're good. $90 is definitely a good price - I've seen chairs like that for $600 second hand. I'm also amazed you found that unstained cream cashmere at a thrift store. You're doing great, tell your brain to hush and just keep going.
Your videos actually made me realize, at the age of 22, that I can find and wear all kinds of clothes, including the more "nerdy" or "statement" ones that I will personally like and that will fit me but still look classy or casual. I just never knew in what direction should I put my efforts in and what to look for and you somehow showed me that.

But also, don’t be afraid to try new things and experiment if you want. Even if it means just sharing moments like these where you feel like you’re struggling to find your footing. You have no idea how much reassurance and comfort you may bring to someone going through exactly what you are. Seriously, anything you put out with your heart in it will be worth it in the end. Especially because of how authentic and unfiltered you are which is so rare these days. Love ya :)

ASHLEY YOU SHOULD TRHIFT PLAIN T SHIRTS AND SEND THEM TO A PRINT COMPANY AND MAKE MERCH THAT WAY SO ITS SUSTAINABLE. IT WOULD ALSO BE MORE CUSTOMIZED AND PROBABLY CHEAPER THAN NEW BLANK SHIRTS edit: sorry for yelling lolol
Love me some of that I’ve thought of that too! But I think especially if she’s going to be selling a large volume (like 100s+ shirts) it would actually be more expensive and a logistical nightmare to take that route. When manufacturing from scratch everything is uniform and becomes even cheaper the more quantity you produce. Imagine the time spent sourcing all the shirts needed, washing them, screen printing every one by hand, then organizing everything, and every shirt would be different so there could be inconsistencies with sizing or quality. This method would probably work better if someone was making smaller quantities and maybe selling in person or actually listing each item separately so they could give accurate descriptions. Anyway, sorry for this in depth analysis you clearly didn’t ask for!! I’ve thought about this too much and have gone through every possible problem which could arise 😂
she could also just choose an eco friendly cotton and sustainable shipping company. thrifting shirts would be WAY more expensive (when you produce merch you buy the shirts wholesale) too. But i like where your mind is at. very crestive
@@nancygarcia683 I actually really appreciate that you wrote that all out! in the moment i was excited about the idea of being able to possibly thrift shirts to make merch instead of having to buy new wholesale shirts which may not be sustainable/ethical. but i realize now since Ashley has a large audience, the quantity of merch demand she would likely have is way way way too much for a single person to handle in terms of buying the shirts second hand. plus all the inconsistencies makes this idea a little bit of an unrealistic dream now that i think about it. but I'm glad someone like you has thought about semi-ethical/sustainable merch :)

It's really hard to go from working tirelessly toward a goal like college graduation to a sudden stop when you finish. The halt in momentum and change in routine and responsibilities really does a number on you, especially if you found a lot of value and purpose in what you were studying. That was me in December when I finished graduate school! But you're going to be great, Ashley. You already are! You're so creative and genuine and have such a good head on your shoulders. First, allow yourself to breathe and reflect on all you've done. You're not lazy if you stop moving 100mph (something I struggle with believing sometimes) And then move forward believing that all this work you've done and all these skills you've collected will serve you in your next dream. “Dare I say, this looks like something from reformation” lol I didn’t realize how much I missed your thrift hauls. Can’t wait to (hopefully) see videos from you more often now that you’re graduated. But no pressure! I just found you last year during your summer break so I got used to videos more often and waiting for Thursday every week since has been ROUGH. You’re one of, if not THE best youtubers out there right now. Just keep doing what you’re doing! Your authenticity is what makes you so good.
you inspired me to go thrifting and i found a really cute denim skirt with red stripes that actually fit! it was a cheap price as well, only $5 for quality denim! yayyy thank you
As someone that graduated two years ago, the existential crisis is totally normal lol. It's the abrupt end to having a distinct purpose that one had in college. And being two years out it....never.....ends...... 😶 lol but it gets better. best of luck to you 🙂
Wait wait wait! I’m actually dying I need to know if Ashley got that belt from thredup!!! Cause I fr sold one exactly like that to thredup and that’s way to cool to me
Ok but HOWWWW do you find such great things on ThreadUP? I’ve tried it everyday, searching through uo grandma clothes and I haven’t found anything cute at all
I found a lot of cute things by using the search bar and only looking at specific brands or styles like wrap dresses or mini skirts. It takes a bit of digging but it's so worth it. Hope that helps!
Hi Ashley I love when you talk about sustainable clothes and the “problems” with fast fashion and the industry sooo if you could do more videos about it it would be cool.. I guess.. love you

Seeing so many of your videos now we have seen how hardworking you are... You are creative and very independent. You are motivating... And no other fashion blogger have ever made me feel like that. Lmaoo same
Tilda Gidlöf but wouldn’t her parents friends or relatives see ashley on YT or other social media?!! Like she’s famous now 💗
Dude this haul was insane. First off, talk more about furniture and home decor thrift finds! Also the blouses and tops you found were so dreamyyyy.
Ashley mentioned Pantone while showing the skirt and today Pantone called Classic Blue, which is somehow the skirt color is, color of the year.
Your authenticity is what makes you so good.
ashley: i could think about colours all day, pantone hire me
also ashley: *struggles to remember what colour red is called*
Anastasia Sakharova
ashley: *thinks about colors all day*
also ashley: *only wears black half the timeout*
Honestly, truly the queen of aesthetic thrifting hauls
*_ReLeAsE mErCh_* 🍯✨
I’ll 100% pay so our sleep deprived princess can eat 🙌
Cinnamon toast crunch tee would be awesome 😂
PLEASE
@Ariana Moniz knowing her, she's living off of cinnamon toast crunch and spending all extra money on fancy stuff.
I’d spend a hefty 40 something spicy dollarinos for a sweater and that’s like 50 something in Canadian I believe so our queen can pay her rent as well
*"Ugly but Cute"*
I swear if someone will say that to me, I will take it as a *semi-compliment* 😂
ashley:
-“ pantone, come for me. i’ll think about colours all day”
- forgets the colour red

ashley: *breathes*
us: I WOULD DIE FOR YOU YOU TELL EM BABE
As someone that graduated two years ago, the existential crisis is totally normal lol. It's the abrupt end to having a distinct purpose that one had in college. And being two years out it....never.....ends...... 😶 lol but it gets better. best of luck to you 🙂
Ashley rambling about pantone is my new reason to live
nobody:
ashley: anyways now that i’ve graduated college
Wait wait wait! I’m actually dying I need to know if Ashley got that belt from thredup!!! Cause I fr sold one exactly like that to thredup and that’s way to cool to me
Lol "I'm gonna talk about this chair more in the apartment makeover that will be up next month"
*9 months later finally uploads apartment makeover* 😂
Ok but HOWWWW do you find such great things on ThreadUP? I’ve tried it everyday, searching through uo grandma clothes and I haven’t found anything cute at all
I found a lot of cute things by using the search bar and only looking at specific brands or styles like wrap dresses or mini skirts. It takes a bit of digging but it's so worth it. Hope that helps!
Also specific colors! Filter things you like. For example: dresses>pink>maxi

Hi Ashley I love when you talk about sustainable clothes and the “problems” with fast fashion and the industry sooo if you could do more videos about it it would be cool.. I guess.. love you
Me: watches Ashley’s vid
*sees Ashley wearing something cute*
*immediately pauses vid to buy it*
My bank account: *hates me*
My fashion sense: *loves me*
Emily Luo same sis ☹️
please do a video of telling your parents about your youtube channel. that would be so cool and interesting to see their reaction to 1.3mil subs🤩x
wait, her parents don't know she has a youtube channel?
Talveer Litt no lol
@@daisynoctor oh wow id like to see that then. but as a fellow asian im not sure how they would react :/
I think there is a reason why she hasn't told them yet so I don't think it is a good idea to film their reaction and put it in TH-cam...
But if she wants to tho, I would like to see it as well if it is okay for her parents
I'm reading this just 3 weeks later and she has a million and a half already, she's growing like CRAZY...
Also, I can't wait for her video telling her parents!!
Its honestly so cute to see how much geeking out over fashion lifted her mood.. my heart.
Omg I also do peace signs *all* the time whenever I feel awkward, so basically every time I talk to another human being. ✌️ ✌️
Seeing so many of your videos now we have seen how hardworking you are... You are creative and very independent. You are motivating... And no other fashion blogger have ever made me feel like that.
You bring some energy into us and u make me want to do something. Try something... Move and explore.
You are amazing ashley❤
when i first read the video i thought ft. existential crisis was a new sustainable fashion brand
I thought that existential crisis was an other TH-camr...
The post grad depression, it’s a thing that loads of people have experienced. Just focus on you, and find out what truly makes you happy - you’re not alone with this feeling x
i'm at that point of my life where i'm jealous of a vintage chair
ashley's been growing so fast and im here for it
i just graduated college too and i find myself asking the same questions you did like 'what do i want to do w my life' and i just feel so in the middle of everything right now lmao it's kinda nice to see that i'm not the only one. hope you get thru this emo phase. i'll try my best too 👍🏽
Please don’t feel guilty about your fashion videos! They are my favorite and always make my day brighter! I love your sense of style and personality, so please never stop!
Ashley: rants about the color blue
also Ashley: forgets red's existance
OMG THOSE elastic rainbow sandals if you ever sell those plz let me know I will bid for them
hey girl, please remember to take time for yourself and dont work so hard that you cant be happy.
I originally subscribed for your thrift hauls. I've missed them! Love your fashion videos
Hey, if you can't be passionate about something you genuinely enjoy you won't ever be passionate about anything, so never feel guilty for what you enjoy !
Her thrift hauls aged so well. 😭 Miss her
usually i get intimidated by people who likes talking about aesthetics or fashion but your personality is just so bubbly and adorable and that makes me feel comfortable and welcomed on your channel so thank you sm
I watched a 4 minute ad before watching this so Ashley can earn that coin
Ashley, I recommend a book titled Ikigai, it's about finding balance in the purpose of life. Maybe that can help :)
Much love to you and your amazing creations and inspo
Thank you so much for this. I really really needed that.
Who’s this by?xx
I really like Ashley's style and the way she makes everything look so elegant and fresh, with this hipster Pinterest spirit idk
we miss you
we love you
we appreciate you
come back
Ashley I’m rewatching all your videos ;-; it makes me feel really happy and sad and it makes my life better. You’re really an important person to a lot of other people because of this service you provide, seriously
"I believe in love at first sight for me and furniture" one sec, making myself a bumper sticker. 10/10 can relate
Next step: Ashley's Guide to Gingham/Gingham Look Book
I didn't know gingham was a word before binge watching her.
YES My two favorite things, clothes and anxiety... Thats gonna be the title of my memoir TM!
Anyone else just watching her old videos because you miss her🥺
For what it's worth, learning about Pentone was really cool. I did, in fact, wonder how Target and Urban Outfitters had the same shade of pink on **completely different products**
So thank
man you didn't even wait that long until after you graduated for an existential crisis you rlly are ahead of the ball game
Ariza R dude i’m in grade nine and have had existential crisis’ since i was in grade seven. 🤙🏼🤟🏼✌🏼
*Ashley posts*
*Me: drops everything to watch*
LOL Thanks for making my last day of spring break better
i just bought a big box of cinnamon crunch.
i hadn't eaten cinnamon crunch in years and yet somehow you sparked the love in me again.
perfect timing.
ashley its ok to enjoy what you enjoy!!! liking fashion and caring about the world/environment/social justice isnt mutually exclusive and honestly you reflecting on your life/ thinking about whether what youre doing is shallow or not just shows how much of a non-superficial person you are
Ashley- "there's no point in me in describing the shirt because you can't feel"
Me- yet she still describes the way the shirt feels even after she said she wasn't...love her ♥️💛
