I’m from the Tampa Bay Area and it rained for 24 hours STRAIGHT. From 2am Wednesday to 2am Thursday (and beyond that even). Then the wind was just relentless! Lost power and the silence made the sound of wind even louder. Thank goodness it’s over!

In that water nothing but water by lakes gators. I am a generational Floridian. Live in Polk County and we just took a direct hit including the eye from Milton. I am always amazed by people thoughts on gators. They truly don’t bother u unless you bother them. Gators truly don’t want anything to do with us and people who get eaten by them are those who go into their territory especially with their pets. Or during mating season or even when the females have laid their eggs. Other then that believe me they don’t bother us. An in these flood water u won’t find any since this is in the middle of a busy street and not near any lakes, ponds, or other bodies of water.

Nineteen years ago, New Orleans was hit by Hurricane Katrina that was at Category 4. We had a lot of wind damage but what was worse was our levees broke and flooded our city. Some houses were under water up to the roofs. Our local governments ordered a mandatory evacuation before the storm hit, but not everyone had personal transportation to escape and were stuck in the city during the storm. Those of us who did evacuate were allowed to return a week later after the flooding waters mostly drained away to assess our property damage but were not allowed to stay. Only after three weeks after power was restored to most of the city and surrounding areas were we allowed to return permanently.

It is important to learn from these tragedies. As weather events become more severe, we will have "climate refugees" moving from volatile weather areas. We need to make this easier for people, so those without resources can relocate as areas become untenable. Governments and insurance companies will have data to identify these areas in advance. We have towns in Australia where flooding has made towns unlivable and the government has a buy-back option for homes to help people relocate.

I was a College Student at USF Tampa + I worked at Busch Gardens in Food Service. We had LOTS of rainstorms back then, but NEVER FLOODING.....I've NEVER seen anything like this! I lived on the ground floor, in a furnished 1-bedroom apartment & the rent was $150.00 a month. Since I only made $3.00 an hour part-time, my entire monthly paycheck went to rent, and a few quarters for the laundry machines! If I could go a week without doing laundry, I used that extra 50 cents to buy a can of beer from these "newly invented" convenience stores called "White Hen Pantry". 50 cents could buy a tall-boy bear can, too! How did I get this old? How did this place get this flooded? I feel so bad for that apartment complex, it was already VERY OLD back in 1980.

6:08 onwards. Could you please remove the irritating dramatic music from the background when you're speaking? It's such a pain in the ass when the background music is so high pitched, it distorts what you are saying.

This is suitcase City in Tampa Florida and I don't know why you're calling it vague Hillsborough county but this is right in the city and this is a low income neighborhood not just a Latino neighborhood. 15 in of rain

Let’s just pray that there’s no more hurricanes in this last month and a half of the season. I can’t imagine Florida being livable in the next 50 years. As climate change intensifies it will only see more storms of greater intensity. I would take the money saved to rebuild and move. You’ll end up saving money in the long run bc these storms are going to be a yearly occurrence from here on out.
I feel so bad for these people. I couldn’t imagine waking up one day and your entire life was destroyed.

Watching the news about Hurricane Milton, it's clear the damage is severe. At 7:29, footage really shows how widespread the devastation is. Hopefully relief efforts will be quick to everyone.

It's funny that some people call immigrants "murderers and rapists", yet after every hurricane here in Florida that I've experienced everyone is glad to see a Juan show up and help with rebuilding their homes after hurricanes. Let this sink in, take all the time you need. Tampa USF BULLS stay safe!
