Happy Thanksgiving Steve! I was out in Tennessee a couple of years ago in January. Air temp 19-23 degrees, water temp on average was 41 degrees. The only lure that was productive ( I mean only ) was the Damiki Vault blade bait fished in 10-25’ of water with a soft yo yo retrieve. When all else fails, the Damiki Vault will catch bass and a surprisingly big bass and numbers too🎣
I agree, Steve. I'd hit the mud line and target wolf packs of bass. It's a great ambush spot. If there are rocky shores, don't overlook sun-baked rocks and try a Wiggle Wart or Rock Crawler. You'd be surprised how many crayfish bass eat.
Steve...I saved this video and I'm going to watch it again every night before I go out on my favorite cold water winter lake...every time. And I'm heading over to check out the deepdive app now.... As always, thank you for the great content. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Thank you for sharing your cold water strategies steve... we are almost ready to start ice fishing here, small lakes 3-4" ice now...good luck only our trip
Great videos with tons of information, Steve! I really like to follow the current like a road and see where it takes me. Oftentimes it leads me right to fish!
Enjoy the trip. I am really looking forward to hearing how you pick it apart when the time comes. ...I hope ya had a great Thanksgiving surrounded by those you love.
Welcome to my home area. We have a lot of great lakes from Jordan, to Shearon Harris (a nuclear power plant lake) to Falls Lake within 15 miles of each other. A Bass Pro shop in Cary and Academy Sport in Apex so if you need anything you won't have far to go. MLF was here in 2019 and it blew their minds. They fished Jordan, Falls and Shearon Harris. Of course it was the spring with a lot of big bass caught. No smallies though. Not sure how Jordan fishes in January. I put my boat up by then but there are a lot of road beds and structures in the lake. Good luck, can't wait to see your videos from there.
Thanks for those tips Steve. I will be fishing my new home lake this winter, and this will help me with finding those areas. They have dropped the lake I fish about 10 feet, so that's another factor I have to think about. I was thinking about getting that deep dive app. I think it might help me since I am learning a new body of water. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
Hey Steve, new to the channel, loving your content. I live in N. Ga. and love the winter fishing in this area. I differ in what I look for... current, cold and muddy. A rattle bait is your best friend, Some of my heaviest 5 fish limits have come in Jan and Feb. Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving. Your underwater vids are also awesome, you can learn so much from watch them in their habitat! This isy 3rd winter fishing down here in SC. Being from southwest Ohio it is a lot different! Bass stay very active here, even in coldest months. I've found here going out in middle of day is really good fishing, the bass go super shallow in that warmer water.
Jordan lake is a great beautiful lake, I learned my fishing skills there, but the other surprise is. Harris lake isn't 10 minutes from Jordan lake. If Jordan is muddy, you can go to Sharon Harris..Both lakes has some monster bass in them..Jordan lake out flow, is the head water that creates the Cape Fear river..That includes the Haw river, and the Deep river..Catching 8lb bass in the Deep river was very common..
Steve between the deep dive app and the Omnia app Do they both show incoming current ? Are there major differences between these apps ? Which do you prefer sir?
I haven’t used the Omnia app much so I can’t accurately speak to all their features. I know the folks at Deep Dive have a bunch of new features they are supposed to roll out over the next 12 months. My favorite feature is the wind/wave prediction model. That has really improved how I plan my day and upcoming days.
Great question. In the cooler water I have the most confidence in natural colors. Unless there is some color to the water and then Iike bright colors like white or chartreuse.
Maybe you (or anyone else) can answer the most basic of basic questions when it comes to these creature baits: which side is up? The dark side or the light side?
@SteveRogersOutdoors Thank you, Steve. What I appreciate the most out of your videos is the desire to teach, rather than just show "this is what I do". For a fly fisherman that's just learning bass, your vids are #1
Something about your videos are so addicting to watch, not to even mention all the amazing info! I'm lovin it Steve, keep it up!
I agreee
Thank you!

My MN friends are excited for the ice. I need to go and give it a go.
Outstanding info man. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

That is a great analogy. And it sure does often lead to exactly where we want to be.
Enjoy the trip. I am really looking forward to hearing how you pick it apart when the time comes. ...I hope ya had a great Thanksgiving surrounded by those you love.

Awesome thank you!
I've fished Jordan a lot, good luck. They added some F-1 bass to the lake too.
I heard that! Can’t wait.

Happy Thanksgiving Steve and great information I have question how much does color of lures play
Great question. In the cooler water I have the most confidence in natural colors. Unless there is some color to the water and then Iike bright colors like white or chartreuse.
Did you say cold water and jigs 😁
Stop by lake James nc !
I will have to check it out. Thanks!
Maybe you (or anyone else) can answer the most basic of basic questions when it comes to these creature baits: which side is up? The dark side or the light side?
That is a great question. I put the dark side up to more match the natural color patterns of prey like crawdads.
