“Burning down one side” “In the mood” “Ship of fools” “Heaven Knows” are all great Plant songs
Ship of fools is so amazing! 29 palms and calling to you as well.
Also - Tall Cool One - 29 Palms - Sea of Love
‘Song to the siren’ is a great cover too.
Sixes and Sevens
what he said
My favorite Robert Plant song, transports you to another place.
For me, that song is Kashmir.
And time...
my favorite song of all time made a playlist of all the Big Log's live versions available on TH-cam.
check if you like ;)

I’d recommend 29Palms, In the Mood, Ship of Fools, Calling to You, and Greatest Gift
Yes to all of these!
"Like I've Never Been Gone" and "Sea Of Love" as well.
I love this song! Robert Plant is so phenomenally gifted! I love his solo work and he's still at it!!! Thank you Polo!
Robert Plant is just straight up 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was the fantastic Robbie Blunt on guitar who had the impossible task of following up Page as Plant's guitar muse. When I saw this tour Phil Collins was drumming but on this song he played xylophone. "Tie Dye On The Highway" is a fave by Plant. Pure banger.
Of course Zep gets all the love, but his solo stuff was quite prolific and interesting.
It's so beautiful ❤️
One of my favourite tracks EVER.
Ditto
check my playlist for all the live versions of Big Log on TH-cam ;) Enjoy!

Easily my favourite Robert Plant song. I was obsessed with it when it came out. Such a beautiful guitar intro and the vocal are just so…..Robert Plant!
41 years since its release and Big Log remains a beautiful, captivating, emotional piece of music. It's absolutely timeless✨

One of the greatest tunes to listen to while alone in the dark on the open road.
41 years later, still sounds amazingly fresh.
You really should check out Robert Plant in the Concert in the Desert.
There's stuff out of West Africa, and the Sahara that would totally blow your mind!
I saw this live on his Principle of Moments Tour 1983 here in Vancouver. Robbie Blunt on guitar, Phil Collins on drums. It was the last show on the tour. The encore was a jam similar to the psychedelic portion of Whole Lotta Love, with Plant shouting "Push it! Push it! Push it!", and Phil Collins wearing a wig. 😋 I saw him 2 more times... Shaken N' Stirred, 1985, and Manic Nirvana, 1990. Absolutely magical.
Not one human outside of opera comes close to the notes and keys and the greatness of his voice
Good choice, can't go wrong
A remarkably excellent song by Robert Plant…I can listen to this song anytime of day or night and is always easy on the ears…great reaction video!
A sexy song…it’s like floating down a lazy river.
It's been a few years since I last heard this, I wore out the cassette back in the day! I saw Plant in Calgary in '05, it was the 1st conceet I took my son to, ❤❤❤ him. Just found your channel, liking your vibe!
Amazing artist ❤
I'm really excited for this one 😁 This is one of my favorite songs that I put in the mellow/ tranquil category. It's so easy to zone out to 😌
This is one of my favorite songs. Loved your reaction.
Phil Collins played on most of this album's songs and Jethro Tull's drummer played on a couple, too. This song is just a drum machine. Check out "In The Mood" with Phil on drums. In the 80s, when you heard the unmistakable "bark" from those concert toms on someone's song, you knew Phil was on the track.
He’s been working solo ever since John Bonham died. He just hasn’t been as prolific as a lot of us might have hoped. But what he has done has been right off of the top shelf. Big Log is my personal favorite of his solo work. If you want to hear something a little more revved up, check out Rock And Roll. 🤘 😊❤
Robert Plant 'Shine It All Around' < yeah thats a good one
This song always takes me back to when I was living in Massachusetts with my eldest sister. I was having a really difficult time living at home and had to decide whether to stay up there or go back to Florida. I stayed for awhile and have some really fond memories of that point in time.
i LOVE how the song is almost 3 minutes in and you're already blown away, and Robert hasn't even sung a note yet.
Such a great song to do!!!!
Love listening to this driving my truck otr late night into early morning through the Midwest of Our Beautiful Country
My favorite Plant/Zep song of all.
My favourite Robert Plant solo song is 'Like I've Never Been Gone' and there's a good live version on youtube.
Robert has neen making music like this ever since Led Zep broke up. I saw their next to last concert in Munich Germany 1980....and been to every Plant & Plant/Page tour since. It's been part of the soundtrack of my life. Try ‘Helen of Troy’ from the Lp Now and Zen…
Phil Collins was the drummer on the first two solo album of Plant and the drummer on tour in 1982
The official music video is quite good as well.
Nothing else in the world like the titans of the 60s and 70s trying to find the their way through the 80s
ahhhh Plant solo......classics- Little by little ....now and zen....manic nivanna....fate of nations.... etc. but the recent stuff the best , got some favs -one day ill shout you a coffee or two!
great song, been on my playlist for a long time followed by Get Out of this House by Shawn Colvin and Spanish Moon by Little Feat, aaaah music
Good stuff. In the Mood, Other Arms and also Through With the Two Step are amazing. This whole album (The Principle of Moments) is fire. 🔥
Robbie Blunt kills it on those early Plant solo albums. Fantastic guitarist.
I was a young teen in the early hay days of MTV, they played this video a lot, I was never a big fan of LZ, but this song is timeless 🔥
He's still touring today as a solo artist! Can't wait to catch him live and hear this again.......
In the mood. Both of his debut solo efforts where stellar! Can't go more than 6 months without listening to either album!🎉❤🎉🎉
Hi Polo -- I'm a new subscriber & I LOVE your channel and your honest reactions to some of my favorite music from the 70's and 80's. I'm a huge Led Zep fan, and Robert Plant's later solo stuff is phenomenal as well. So glad you reacted to this -- I also highly recommend Robert Plant's "Tall Cool One" and "Ship of Fools" -- would love to see your reactions to these as well! Also - here are a few more bands/songs I think you might like (I realize you can't react to all of these, but these are some of my favs from this era):
Aerosmith ("Janie's Got a Gun," "Back in the Saddle," "Sweet Emotion"
Boston ("More Than a Feeling," "Feelin' Satisfied")
U2 ("Pride/In the Name of Love," "Where the Streets Have No Name"
The Talking Heads ("Burning Down the House," "Life During Wartime")
Simple Minds ("Don't You Forget About Me," "Alive and Kicking")
I happily bought you a coffee & encourage others to do so as well. :) Keep up the great work!!
Great song, and I agree is a masterpiece.
I never get sick of this song, anytime anyday.
Here is a recommendation. Sting, and the song
"shape of my heart" 184mill views. My personal
favourite of mine. This song was used in a cult
classic movie, "leon " or " The Professional ".If
you haven't seen this movie, its a must watch !
Cheers !!
After Zep Plant put out this solo. It is great. You gotta check out "Long Cool One" it's Zep joining him.🎸😎
Listen to "Tall Cool One" from Now and Zen. Bit faster if wanting that, different band than here. Or "Tie Dye on the Highway" from his Manic Nirvana album, which all tracks are great imo. Listen to "The Anniversary" as well. Only Rob can cry that one out.
Robert Plant was also in a band called The Honeydrippers. Other members included Jimmy Page, Brian Setzer (The Stray Cats), Jeff Beck, Paul Schaffer, and Nile Rodgers.
Go to Plant's first solo album "Pictures at Eleven" and just start going through it. Great album. A good from this album is "Thru With the Two Step."
You should listen to pre Zep Plant. Unbelievable vocals in a very different style. Try 'Our Song', for example, a sort of Mina-esque Italian ballad from 1967. You can hear Dusty's influence too in the chest/head voice transitions.
There's a live performance of 'Carry Fire' that has some amazing instrumental performances as well as Robert's haunting vocals.
Plant had a great solo career! Ive seen him 2 times. His musicians are all top notch players.
When he says the my love is in league with the freeway, it took me awhile to realize he means in league with the free way, not the road freeway but I think he is talking about Aleister Crowley, A devil worshipper who motto was Do as thy wilt, The Free way. Jimmy Page was a collector of Crowley memorabilia and had bought his house. Now you know.
Solo career longer than the time with Zeppelin. Still going strong. Seeing him with Allison Krause in June.
you should check out his other side project, "Honey Drippers Vol 1" "Sea of Love"
Zeps Trampled Under Foot is really up-tempo, but Robert is a crooner at heart, trying to get those panties to drop.
Try “29 palms”
Has anyone mentioned Plant with The Honeydrippers yet?
This used to play every high-school dance.
In the early 1990s Robert Plant had a very successful solo career going with consecutive albums that went multi platinum. There were several hit songs he toured for three years in support of his music.
He's still touring with several different musical adventures.
@@sarahdaw6648 We saw Robert Plant in concert in 1992 and 1993. In 1998 we saw him with Jimmy Page doing their Led Zeppelin hits. In 2007 we saw him with Alison Krauss and the two of them have 28 shows lined up for later this year. So yes, he seems as if he's far from being done performing. Oh, in the 70s my wife saw Led Zeppelin when she was at Ohio State University.
After Zeppelin gave it up because of their drummer's death, Plant and Page continued on to produce outstanding solo music. I'm 72. They created the soundtrack of my life.
I followed him and Jimmy Page like a hawk back then. Go check out the Honey Drippers, That was Page, Plant and others. Also a different vibe. - Hawk
Polo, check out "In The Mood" next!
That opening is sexy😁
polo be looking like 50 cent with those straps from get rich or die tryin
Big Log refers to a trucker's log
7:45 the faster cadence would be Immigrant Song.
Next*** Tall Cool One***
You REALLY need to reaction to Susan Tedeschi Rock Me and or Hurts so Bad
His solo work is interesting. He did a lot to separate himself from Led Zeppelin. He said something along the lines of “that was a part of my life that’s long over. I’m proud of it, but it’s past.”
Somebody needs to tel him John Bonham died sept 25 th 1980 while on tour. led zeppelin ended that day .. Plant went on to a solo career for over 40 years now.
In my opinion, this cut is on par with Kashmir
I can't imagine the preasure that Robert Plant would have felt after the demise of Led Zeppelin. Record companies would have been going out of their minds waiting for his solo material. This track comes a few years into his solo career & it shows that Plant is fully at ease in this new terrain. To compare Bowie's patchy interaction with the mainstream. Plant fully understands what's needex to balance artistic expression, legacy & the demands of a mainstream. it's a wonderfully crafted soft rock radio friendly track, it was a huge distance from his heights of glory with Led Zep. But in retrospect, Plant has proved himself to be a ceaseless traveller constantly searching for new sounds & collaborations. So even though this track has a very dubious title, it is a classic radio friendly track.
He does some faster stuff too like Tall Cool One. You'd really like it! It's a finger popping thing! Also has some really cool samples of some led Zeppelin riffs!
Robert has some good solo stuff.
Im In The Mood should be on your list.
His work with Allison Krause is great. Their song GONE GONE GONE is a good one.
I love their High and Lonesome ❤ they were fabulous on Crossroads
I'll be seeing them in June. Really looking forward to it!
Robert Plant - Tall Cool One - 29 Palms - Heaven Knows - Ship of Fools - Sea of Love
Robert Plant - Tall Cool One - 29 Palms - Heaven Knows - Ship of Fools - Sea of Love
That entire “Raising Sand” record is incredible. “Please Read The Letter” is stunning.
Love Big Log! Ship Of Fools and I'm In The Mood are two others worth checking out.
Still a solo artist lol Robert has no quit in him Another hypnotic solo Ship of Fools
🎼There’s nobody can sing bluesy blues like Robert Plant. He’s been singing with Allison Krauss lately and you talk about some good listening. But after all, Robert Plant is the King of Goosebumps. Been listening to him many years since Led Zepplin. After all we are in our 70’s and have been appreciating Robert Plant all these years.🎼💟☮️
Allison Krauss has the voice of an angel and is a badass violin virtuoso
@@maryklever1633
🎼Yes she is a bad-assed violin virtuoso and her voice fits into Plants just like a glove. I really love listening to them.🎼☮️
Going to see them in June with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan
I’m seeing him and Alison again for the 3rd time this August in Washington State!
@@EastCoastGal66
August in Washington State? OMG! Both of my daughters live in Spokane! Where is/are the concert(s) going to be?
Phil Collins, a good friend of Plant, talked him out of retiring. Told him he'd play drums on his first solo effort and tour with him. That's Phil Collins
And other albums as well. Close mates.
I was blessed to see Robert with Phil! It was EPIC!
My favorite part of this song BIG LOG is the guitar,.. that touches my heart❤ every time that I hear it. I can listen to it over and over just to hear the guitar.🎉
Robbie Blunt is the guitarist, I think. Something Blunt. He has such great phrasing. Rob's solo work is a whole other rabbit hole. Worth the time. He employs amazing musicians.
Robby Blunt on guitar…..outstanding player, vastly underrated and criminally unrecognized by most.
Robbie Blunt has always been one of my favorite guitarists Classy indeed .
Hails from my neck of the woods, Kidderminster, England. Now retired to the Canaries. Watched him play many times - just a great guitarist
I was just thinking the same thing.
Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 after John Bonham died. This was recorded in 1983, when all remaining members were free to do solo projects.
Try his I’m in the mood next…
👍Yes! 👍
Great track.
I was gonna say the same
Phil Collins plays drums on this track!
Also Phil Collins plays on the track: In The Mood.
The drumming on this song is electronically programmed, so it's definitely not Phil Collins. This is from his second solo album (The Principle Of Moments), and IIRC Phil Collins only played on the first one (Pictures At Eleven). Robbie Blunt's guitar is the MVP here for sure, and Paul Martinez is on point with the bass. That chord change before he sings "leading me on" is absolutely *gorgeous* isn't it?
He's had a 43 year solo carrer I've seen him 27 times on his solo carrer concerts. He's my favorite artist.
Right on. 👈
Genius!
Envy oooozes from my pores....
I saw him once in Oklahoma. I had balcony seats on the rail. When a song finished I said “ I love you Robert!” He looked at me like “ Really?” 😂 His voice is still amazing.
Robert is the GOAT for rock n roll singers!!
Robert Plant has an entire Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame level career in addition to Led Zeppelin. Dude is one of the all time greats.
It’s a crime that he’s not been inducted as a solo artist. Hell, even PHIL COLLINS hasn’t. That’s just a travesty. Maybe after they both pass on… ☹️
Plants one of my favorites i like his dolo music better than his zeppelen stuff
This whole song has the capacity to transport you to another world. The guitar is beautiful and the vocals are haunting.
Open road, approaching evening, train in the rear veiw mirror coming up on my right and overtaking our ride as this song played on the stereo. One of those moments in life marked by a song.
Walking into the cafeteria at school. We had an old juke box in the corner. This came on, and the room went silent. I just stood still in the doorway listening. Sun shining in the windows with a big blue sky.
@@VinzClorthokeymasterofGozer _You've got a lot of soul!_
In the Mood from the same album is stellar too!
This song is so damn smooth
My favorite solo Plant tune
Me too
Check my playlists for all the Big Log's live versions on TH-cam. ;)
th-cam.com/play/PLdHEdli_nHiNzMw-s35VzzlQ2Q-CNF6OK.html&si=dYMCWil4dfjcMFsO
Road tune ... cruise control, and IN NO RUSH !!! CHILLIN' ❤
I know it's early but, you're gonna love this song
This is perfect to play on a cool summer night, riding with the windows down … so late that no one else is on the road. It’s soul stirring. And your reaction is how I feel every time I listen to it. I feel like a teenager swept up by what the future could hold.
Well said! I can totally relate to your remarks!
Robert Plant Rocks! I grew up with the incredible bands of the 60's and 70's. Will never be this great of music again. Im glad I grew up in that time!
Me too...we are so blessed ❤️✌🏼
Me also. We were very lucky....spoiled us for music going forward. Now a days crap. Mostly. No texture. Lyrics lacking. All the same beat. Just a shame....
For sure the 70s-90s was the Golden Age of music for most, but there are kids now discovering all the old stuff (thanks, in great part ,to TH-cam) . Some will take what theyve learned & make it their own. Modern production techniques are garbage, but people are realizing this and Id like to hope that soon pitch correction, quantizing, looped drums, click tracks and all that other garbage will be a thing of the past.
..and to be fair, some of that stuff has its place, but its so misused & overused so often , that it takes any "life" right out of the songs.
Brings tears to your eyes doesn't it.
This was 1983
Love this song...! Logging on the miles... "There's no turning back on the run"
A great long haul song!
Saw Plant perform this live in Philadelphia in '83. Loved that whole album.
I’m totally jealous!
I saw him perform this in Milwaukee in '83. Without looking it up, I believe the album was Pictures at 11. I finally looked it up. I was wrong as that was his first solo album in '82. This is The Principle of Moments, his second solo album.
@@ew4932 This one is from the second album "The Principle of Moments".
Robert Plant - Tall Cool One - 29 Palms - Heaven Knows - Ship of Fools - Sea of Love
"Like I've Never Been gone" and "Heaven Knows" as well.
You’ve got to check out Robert Plant and Jimmy Page Most High too. The Zeppelin well is deep!
First Robert plant song I heard when he quit playing with led Zeppelin such a timeless classic
Just saw him live here in a piazza in Italy in November. He is STILL amazing.
Wow ! That's fantastic. ✌🏻 what talent
@@valoriel4464 I have videos on my channel if you're into it.
All of Robert’s solo career consists of beautiful and interesting music of different genres. Try it you’ll ❤️ He’s 74 and still doing it ❤
