Prior to this film coming out, I always had to pause when someone asked me what my favorite movie ever was. Now, I don't pause. It's Pulp Fiction. Nothing even really comes close.
I still remember the moment I first heard this song. First date, with a stripper, off to see Pulp Fiction. I heard this song and knew I was going to like this movie. Thank God for Quentin or most of us would never have heard this tune.
Just saw Dick Dale play this about thirty minutes ago. He was awesome. My ears are still ringing. And I am blissfully unaware of what f-ing Black Eyed Peas song everyone is talking about.
In 1969 this version was recorded by Dick Dale. Long document short. This is one of the trademarks for surf guitar music. This wasn't made specifically for the movie.
I think it's just intresting to know that the original Greek is much older than Dick Dale's version (that i find good enough also even if i prefer the various Greek versions) and the lyrics are about a Greek in love with an exotic "Misirlou" (Egyptian woman, as they were called in Ottomans period) promising to "steal" her from the Muslims - for the first recording (the song is actually much older Greek folk oriental rebetiko style) search -in Greek-: "Μισιρλου Δημητριαδης". Greetings from Greece
This song rocks so hard you could show Oprah eating rice cakes and it would still stimulate. That tone has to be one of the 10 best of all time in rock guitar.
I love that fucking trumpet. Its like I'm hearing some kind of sunset stand off from an old cheesy western. You must always use the word fuck at least once when commenting in anything related to Pulp Fiction.
Not a surf song.. The original is a classical greek song from 1927. The Dick Dale version is very close to the original. This kind of music is called "rebetiko". This is the greek blues.
obviously they arent dealing gold, its probably drugs or money, but whatever it is, its sort of mystical and thats what the gold light really reflects...
@eimaiokalyteros he didnt steal it because he didnt rename it to a shitty name like "pump it" and add lyrics. he left it as Misirlou like the original composer intended it to be. He at least changed it more than just adding lyrics in, he uses a guitar. see, the black eyed peas took this same song, they didnt use real instruments to play it, they might as well have simply got the same record and just sung over it. cause thats close to what they did with their "pump it" version

this is not a greek song but traditional song from south Serbia named " Vranjanka "
yeaahhhhh!!!!!!!
This song rocks so hard you could show Oprah eating rice cakes and it would still stimulate. That tone has to be one of the 10 best of all time in rock guitar.
This arrangement is from Dick Dale. He wrote those guitar lines. It's way different than the traditional song I heard.
Epic!
im glad the black eyed peas did a song sampling this. or else i never would know about the original which is great
this is an old greek song called misirlou-with origins from kwntstantinopolis.misirlou is the name of a woman
シソンヌじろうから来ました
It is a Greek "rempetiko" song.
Misirlu was a woman from Minor Asia.
Nobody gave a cent to the creator.
This version is a surf song. It is a surf trademark. I am not implying that the 1927 version is a surf song, this version is.
