hi guys !! for context: each episode will be recorded in some kind of online game, not necessarily just roblox. although we do love roblox. we have no theme song or channel art or anything yet, and it'll just be on youtube for now. we will figure all that out in the next couple episodes. but for now enjoy whatever this is. 🫶
I love how you two end up having to swap playing the straight man on the fly when the other person goes off the rails. The constantly shifting dynamic makes for a very fun atmosphere.
The origin of censoring "fuck" with "fuck"! Comedic gold. Great job, both of you. Keep up all the amazing and entertaining work. Wishing you all the best.
as a 30 year old guy with disordered eating, sometimes i will be legitimately fatigued and nauseated due to a lack of eating and i'll STILL be like "but we dont have anything tasty...." like you can absolutely be very hungry and still not eat a carrot. and it sucks lmao.
Would love a future episode to be just you two wandering around in an open world game or in Minecraft cooperatively building something. ... oh wait, that'd just be a let's play... I legitimately thought I was making a valid suggestion...
Pro tip for under-eaters like us: just smash 100 g of cheese before bed with 5 or 6 crackers & a glass of water. Easy 500 calories, no sugar, cheese improves sleep (contrary to nightmares myth) and being full improves sleep (no waking due to hunger). Moreover, it forces you to exercise via the guilt of eating 700 g of cheese a week. If you don't jog & lift, you'll die from the fat intake.
Just came from Mem's Rod Fisher video and I gotta say - first of all, amazing work Mem - and secondly, good call on letting us think he was dead Austin! That reveal really hit. Loved it!
When I was a kid I also believed that stunts like car crashes and people falling off of cliffs were done by old people who didn't want to live anymore and wanted their final moments to be captured artistically. I wonder how many other kids thought the same thing. Maybe this is a new 'the talk' parents need to be having with their kids.
Hey I just want to say both you guys Austin and Mem really inspire me to create videos of my own and to not worry about the algorithm etc and just do what I wanna do so keep being unapologetically you both of yall cause you guys are amazing fr
love this so much! and really liked hearing a bit of the behind the scenes brainstorming for a video that I watched prior to this. It's like the good old days when DVDs included BTS and bloopers. It might also be cool to film an episode of this while you both chill in an npc carriage on red dead or something, so we can watch the scenery roll by while you chat
I'd meant to comment on that video but I LOVED Mem's video about Rod Fisher's games and would absolutely love if she kept doing stuff like that it was endearing. Also I'm glad that two of my favorite youtubers now have a podcast this is so sick
I really enjoyed the conversation about how you were planning to approach certain topics in your videos and some behind the scenes stuff into the production side of things. You two are wonderful and funny and yet I also came out of this feeling like I learned something. I can't wait to listen to future episodes!
The food discussion was the type of relatable that helps me feel a lot better about my life and who i am. Thank you for that. As was the conversation about living one's life for one's self and the difficulty of maintain8ng a life under pressure. Mem halfway convinced me to drop out of grad school, but im almost certainly defending this year so that is not in the cards.
57:01 Something I really like about the 80s and 90s is that kids movies weren't all comedies. They all have jokes and funny moments, but that's not always the focus. Jumanji was much more of an action adventure than it was anything else, and even had its own moments that could be considered horror. Kids experience a full spectrum of emotion, same as anyone, and I feel like we used to utilize that in kids media more often back then than we do today.
i've always loved your collabs, so this is delightful. i like the discussion of the episode you just released, memoria, and it's really funny and fun to me that austin is advising you how to optimize viewer retention via constructing a compelling narrative. :)
@1:05:34 Austin that is literally what every classic Trek fan who hasn't watched the Orville says until they watch the Orville. I know, because I was one of them! And also my parents. And my coworker. And my neighbor. lol.
this is the greatest day of my life. you two are my comfort creators. i often will pull one of your channels up and out it on play mix and watch until I fall asleep. when I'm having a really hard time, one of you is who I put on. now I don't have to choose or bounce around between yall, I can have both at once ;^; I'm so happy
As a longtime Star Trek fan (my favorites are the 90s series), I tried the Orville despite having the same doubts that you did, Mem, and couldn't get through the first episode. It was painfully unfunny, and pretty much what I expected. And like you said, there's so much actual Star Trek content, and once you get through it all, you'll just want to go back and rewatch DS9 anyway :D
As someone that spent years working banquet service, it bothers me that the plates aren't clocked the same way around the table so the entree faces the guest.
If Mem has never gone Down the rabbit hole with Fredrick Knudsen, there’s so many little freaks she is yet know about. Would watch a react stream of the TempleOS or Time Cube episodes
I really enjoyed this! especially the parts where ur talking abt struggles creating and doin things (oh no veggies!) its helps me humanize and empathize my own wackiness doin things to see other ppl talk abt stuff like that.anyways neato
Love this podcast! Gotta say though, I couldn't possibly relate less to your chat about food. Cooking is absolute me time! On the veg front, just roast a big tray of veg, blitz it in a food processor, mix it with a bit of yoghurt, and jar it as pasta sauce. Edit: also, 80s dark fantasy, recommend the 1986 Finnish film Lumikuningatar (Snow Queen). This and Dark Crystal were two of my favourite films as a kid, even though they both terrified me!
i would love to know what 22anna906 thought they'd stumbled in on. why did they leave so fast? what if they stuck around and shared their thoughts on vegetables and star trek?
You're both in my top 35 favorite subscriptions, and I look forward to listening to you chat while I'm at work. Any_Austin should make a community post plugging this podcast, being the one with so many subscribers.
i was so deeply excited to see this announcement!! i will be here for whatever you guys decide to talk about i feel like i'm learning every time this is school i'm being educated 🤓
About the movies with a similar esthetic as Neverending Story, Mem might like Return to Oz - the freakish sequel to the Wizard of Oz. I was also thinking about it because of the earlier conversation about messed up kids movies.
@@nameitifyoucan OMG seconding Return to Oz!! Scared the fuck out of me as a kid but I was compelled to repeatedly watch it regardless. Also Dorothy + Ozma was lowkey a gay awakening for me as a tiny child and it brought me immense joy to discover they are queer coded in the books
all the movies mem mentioned are jim henson films so i highly recommend his show “the story teller” which includes a man telling myths/folk tales to his talking dog edit: and now that i’ve reached the part where mem mentions star trek, i must now recommend farscape also
When I was a kid I saw some drama that was set in an office and at the Christmas party one of the characters went off to the toilet cubicle and had a heroin overdose. One of the other characters found him slumped (maybe dead?). Anyway for years I was terrified of finding someone overdosed behind the door to the toilet.
I'm very happy to see this! This might sound insane, but you two are both so good at rambling its almost a shame when the quality of your videos keeps the runtime low. Obv I wouldn't want you sacrificing quality for quantity so this is the perfect win-win.
29:30 I do banana-flavored Huel + dried milk powder + a chocolate protein powder for breakfast every morning. Changed my life, it's absolutely delicious and nutrient-dense.
I had to stay in a homeless shelter for a few months and I lowkey liked it because I got food three times a day with zero effort or thought on my part. Closest I have been to just eliminating eating as a chore.
Omg I would have never guessed Austin is even 10 years older than Mem. I knew he seemed mature compared to me, and way too knowledgeable on the employment system for a 20 year old. Lol
49:13 I got a DVD from the public library: a French black & white film noir, called Le Yeux Sans Visage ("eyes without a face"), and it had a bonus feature ("blood of the beast"), which was a real, uncensored look inside slaughter houses - actual live animals being put down and processed. The look of fear on the face of a calf, when it saw what was happening to the others, before it was bled out in turn, scarred my young city-boy mind, and turned me vegetarian. I still remember it clearly, about 20 years later. Based on saying "Tofurkey" I'm guessing Mem is vegetarian btw 😊
I totally agree on the price of eggs. When a couple eggs is nearly a meal and it costs like .33 cents an egg on the expensive side, is this really a problem? And holy crap, it’s mind blowing to consider how many chickens we have enslaved to make that economically viable.
The fact you edited the shot/reverse-shot for an entire podcast is hilarious and infinitely endearing
hi guys !! for context: each episode will be recorded in some kind of online game, not necessarily just roblox. although we do love roblox. we have no theme song or channel art or anything yet, and it'll just be on youtube for now. we will figure all that out in the next couple episodes. but for now enjoy whatever this is. 🫶
Interesting concept. Love you both! Keep doing what you're doing.
Skyrim would make a great table setting
webfishing would be perfect for this
Incredible premise
DO YALL NEED ARTS??? 😲 Hmmmm hmmmmmmm hmmmmmmm. I'll listen and think about artz
i can move my mouse cursor onto the cursor on the screen and it's like holding hands
if someone said that to me i might fall in love
parasociality intensifies
I wanna like but I don’t wanna ruin funny number
@@SSBFaded omg i almost ruined it
@SSBFaded funny number is nowhere near as funny as most funny comments. Funny number overrated.
love the idea that austin is just grabbing a whole carrot for breakfast every morning and choking it down like a snake
that's what it sounds like
@MemoriaMatters loved the podcast and ur vids thanks mem tell austin to chew his food or dont its his life
0% chance of precipitation...immediately starts raining.
This is the origin of the "mem saying fuck" bleep in Austin's videos, amazing lol.
I know! Getting the full context is hilarious, almost as funny as the out of context random dubbed in Mem saying "Fuck" in Austin's last video.
mem never having tried an energy drink is the most PNW she's ever been
I love how you two end up having to swap playing the straight man on the fly when the other person goes off the rails. The constantly shifting dynamic makes for a very fun atmosphere.
The white monster joke got me
"sick ........ we made a drink about it"
The origin of censoring "fuck" with "fuck"! Comedic gold.
Great job, both of you. Keep up all the amazing and entertaining work. Wishing you all the best.

nah fuck eating a carrot
Would love a future episode to be just you two wandering around in an open world game or in Minecraft cooperatively building something.
... oh wait, that'd just be a let's play... I legitimately thought I was making a valid suggestion...
no but it would be cool if they both rode together in a carriage on red dead online or something. We can watch the scenery while they chat.
if mem has no fans then i don't exist
this is the best podcast episode I've ever listened to (I'm 51 seconds in)
I'm putting my vote in for gm_construct (in Garry's Mod) for next location
This is a fantastic idea for a location
Ah, this place is weird

i found mem and therefore austin through the rob fisher video. it was so good it made me watch the rest of the mem extended universe
I am walking in your steps
Yall starting a podcast together is maybe the greatest news of all time
I deeply love the nanosaur sfx and beg you to never stop using them
Hey I just want to say both you guys Austin and Mem really inspire me to create videos of my own and to not worry about the algorithm etc and just do what I wanna do so keep being unapologetically you both of yall cause you guys are amazing fr
Love Austin, found Mem from his page, love Mem now, found people from her page that I watch. Now THIS??? Hell yeah.
i'm flabbergasted yall would slander eating and sleeping before thinking of giving up having to earn money
You’re good at this
tbf we literally are TH-camrs
What flabbergasted me is that none said "cleaning your house/flat"
Like wth, that's the one adult thing I REALLY struggle with
I was expecting to hear having to go to the loo after all that food talk.
I googled my name and the first result was an obituary
Aw no thanks to that

i'm gonna need a mem + austin star trek film tier list after mem finishes all of them !!!
A mem + austin tier list series would be heavenly tbh
This is my kinda podcast. You guys should chat at the liars dice table in thieves landing in red dead redemption 1.
I really love y’all’s dynamic. You’re guys’ personality and rhythm are so calming and funny
Y’all are releasing these weekly right?! Cause I’m already addicted

oh and it's great that random people dropped into your discussion. and that the roblox environment is kind of glitchy. it all fits.
The Orville is actually good. Like heartfelt, tear jerking, real laughter good.
This was fantastic, and I will certainly be needing more of it.
Man, y'all were on it with the food discussion. Chewing food is such a goddamn chore that I didn't realize other people also felt strongly about
I'm pretty sure the movie where the fingers are being cut off is Darkman by Sam Rami!
YES MORE MEM N AUSTIN CONTENT LETS GO 🗣️
I already commented on Mem's video about Rod, but I just want to reiterate how good a vid that was
@1:05:34 Austin that is literally what every classic Trek fan who hasn't watched the Orville says until they watch the Orville. I know, because I was one of them! And also my parents. And my coworker. And my neighbor. lol.

26:30 there is no protein in a carrot. Hunger can be a craving for specific macros, not just any food at all.
Thats starvation.
Hemp seed does have complete protein, and good omega oil EFAs ❤
Can't do just carrots though, balance is key
As someone that spent years working banquet service, it bothers me that the plates aren't clocked the same way around the table so the entree faces the guest.

Love both of your channels, super excited for this. gl;hf!
thank god ive been starved for content with both of you, such a good pair

literally the perfect thing to listen to while filling out grades…..thank u for these chats
I have never related to anyone less than I have when you two started talking about food, but I love you both! You’re the best

seeing this after the video is out and yeah it was incredible going down the rabbit hole
I vote for the next one to be in VRchat at the black cat club with both of you talking at the bar 😩

I think Sea of Thieves would also be a good game to find a spot to sit and record in
