I always thought Yuga was a cool boss. But since many people do not talk about him I just thought that I liked him because between worlds was the first legend of zelda game i played.
Yes and no, the main difference is dimentio wants to reshape things in his image, vaati never once harmed anyone, he just wanted to be recognized, and if his master wouldn't do it, then he would have to become the most powerful of all things to earn recognition, even in four swords, he didn't want to kill zelda he wanted to marry her, just shows hes just someone who was influenced by evil but isn't really evil themselves, he's one of the few villains that could have actually had redemption if there was another game but there simply wasn't, he lost control when he became a demon yet even then he wouldn't be fully evil, yet still a great villain, just comes to show that one doesn't need to try to destroy the world to be a good villain
Which version of Ganon are we talking about? Because any version of Ganon could take down Vaati; except Oracle games Ganon who is basically just a giant, angry magic pigman, and possibly Wind Waker Ganondorf (but only after he loses the Triforce of Power). Don't get me wrong, I loved the crap out of the Four Swords Trilogy and Vaati is one of my favorite Zelda villains... But he just gets the short straw when it comes to any other Ganon(dorf).
The triforce is stronger than the wishing hat kupo Vaati only used the hat to become a sorcerer, he then relies on his own acquired powers and doesnt seem to rely on the hat anymore. If he did, the hat would shatter like it did when Zelda wishes for the castle and people to be healed and the monsters to disapear. He is obviously not fully satisfied with the hat and then proceeds to seek the light force, which is what actually grants him his might in the final fight Also it is kinda implied that the light force and the triforce is the same when Link learns it is hidden in the princess heart (it takes the form of a golden triangle) So basically at his peak, Vaati is also a triforce weilder, the wisdom piece, which, although a villain, he could still have synergise with since he was the main apprentice of the wisest minish of the time
You make me imagine: what if Yuga and Hilda's story happen when Vaati rules over Hyrule. It would have been so different. Yuga landing on Vaati's Castle haha
Vaati being the second most common threat to hyrule, because nobody beats Ganon, I’m surprised he has not been a villain in any non GBA Zelda, I want a 3d zelda with vaati as the villain
There is no way of knowing exactly how Yuga's painting ability works, as far as we know only Ravio's bracelet and the Yuga's magic paintbrush are able to do this. If Yuga took Vaati by surprise he may be able to turn him into a painting and end it there.
I will hopefully get minish cap for my birthday this month and link between worlds is already one of my favorite zelda games so I am really hyped after watching this.
Hmm, an interesting argument and I’ll be honest, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Vaati is just over powered and I was rooting for vaati the entire video. But I feel as though yuga could’ve done more. Before I make my case, I’m getting some of yuga’s magic abilities not only from link between works but also from hyrule warriors. So if you think my case is void, fair enough. To start off, like you said vaati could get rid of the walls rendering yuga’s main ability useless, I think not, like in hyrule warriors he can summon multiple picture frames to which he hides within them. This makes yuga quite nimble and hard to hit seeing as he’s in a floating picture frame that’s flying around the place. I can see yuga using this to his advantage and summoning multiple frames and making copies of himself within those frames, dispersing them to confuse vaati. While doing this, yuga could trick vaati by summoning his minions, vaati does one better by summoning even stronger ones that could easily dispose of yuga’s. Yuga takes this opportunity to absorb vaatis minions to make himself more sturdy. So now yuga can not only be nimble and doge vaati’s attacks by staying in the picture frame but can also take a blow or two if he gets hit. Yuga is shown casting lighting from different angles, yuga could shoot lighting/fire from the other picture frames flying around. In hyrule warriors, yuga is shown summoning gannons trident from his picture frames without being in his fused pig gannon form. Obviously the trident is powerful and he could use this to fend off vaati’s sword fighting ability if he has any. Or yuga could just use this to stab and hurt vaati. In my opinion, I think yuga would win in adaptability, considering what he could do with picture frames and how he could easily dodge attacks. In the end, vaati would still win but with this I think it would make a much more interesting fight
You're forgetting that Vaati's specialty is wind Magic. Even if Yuga made multiple picture frames that were flying around and entered one of them with copies of himself in the others, Vaati could just use wind Magic to summon a mini hurricane and destroy all of the picture frames. This may not be something that we ever see Vaati do in the Games, but considering that he is referred to as the "Sorcerer of Winds" it is totally something he should be able to do. Yuga would honestly only be a mild annoyance to Vaati if anything.
I'm just going to say this; if you think Yuuga deserves a chance to have a fair fight... Well, Vaati isn't going to play fair, regardless of what you want. He's a devious, cunning, merciless individual who will take any advantage he can in order to guarantee his victory. True, the same can be said of Yuuga, but Vaati's powers, durability, cunning and deception vastly outclass Yuuga's abilities. Like Wily said; Yuuga's only chance to win would be to merge with Ganon and claim the Triforce of Power. But even then, Vaati's not going to stand there slack-jawed like a generic anime protagonist and let him complete the merge/transformation; he's going to crush Yuuga while he's distracted and likely take the Triforce of Power from the mindless Ganon and keep it for himself.
They really need to bring back vaati in one of the new zelda games. i could imagine him being an eldritch sorcerer with a bunch of lovecraftian monsters as minions.

@Retro Entertainment Channel Yeah, and who knows! Maybe Minish might have some raw strength? I never played minish cap so I wouldn't know. (Doesn't mean I dont like Vaati, hes one of my favrites actually!)
Vaati only used the cap to become a sorcerer, he didnt need it after that, and he does not use it in combat, he seeks the light force because he is not completly satisfied with the hat's power
A fun video, but I sort of fail to see the point; if it's that big a gulf between them, why have them fight? Is this Death Battle? And I'm inclined to think it unfair to grant Vaati his hat he stole, but not grant Yuga the power he stole from zombie Gabon. A great deal of Vaati's power isn't his, by this same comparison. I'd still bet he's superior; of the games mentioned, I've only played LBW, but it seems weird to give one the benefits of his altered forms, and theft of might, and not the other. I'd still give it to Vaati, but not by the margin you did. Still, fun video and thanks for making it. Fun to Ser some of the other Zelda games, from time to time. ;)
I think you overpower the minish wish hat a bit too much, it is not that powerful and unlimited kupo -Vaati is looking for the light force to get more power, so obviously he isnt that much satisfied with the magic hat -He makes the wish to become a sorcerer, and then he relies on his own powers in order to achieve his goal instead of relying on the hat -After his defeat, Zelda uses the hat and makes so many wishes that the hat gets destroyed, so its hinted the hat can only fulfill a limited number of wishes

Yes!! Yuga! And vaati! I have a theory about them, that after vaati was defeated, he was imprisoned in majora's mask and he became the happy masks salesman to trick link into entering the made up world of termina, intent on killing link. This is because vaatis and the happy masks salesman laughs are the same. And yuga is the one who put vaati in the mask, the evidence is that yuga is an evil Sheila, as he is impas counterpart, and the yiga clan is named after yuga. Also, vaatis and majora's final form is the same, [name here's] wrath.
Doesn't work. The first Game after Minish Cap in the timeline is Four Sword which ends with Vaati getting sealed, only breaking out of the seal in Four Swords Adventure which is after Twilight Princess.
Welp, maybe the Wish Cap has some limits, otherwise Vaati would have Thanos-Snapped Link already, but even with these limits, Yuga would be very fucked up if he wouldn't merge with Ganon
yeah, the only time Yuga is actually any good is in Hyrule Warriors, he's actually kinda OP there, but I still would've preferred Vati TBH, plus imagine the story interactions he and Ganondorf could have...
So Vaati has acess to his magic hat but Yuga can't use his Ganon form? I don't think that's very fair. In the same way Vaati gets a big deal of his power from his hat, so does Yuga from fusing with Ganon and the triforce of power. That would be like making Skull kid with the Majora's mask fight against Zant without the powers from Ganon. For this to be fair I think they should both fight at their maximum powers.
At their maximum power, it would still be unfair kupo Vaati's power at its peak doesnt come from the weak wishing hat (that thing gets shattered if used too often and Vaati quickly seeked a better source of power.) His mightiest form comes from the triforce of wisdom he absorbed from Zelda's heart, since he was the main apprentice of wisest minish of the time, he had a great synergy with that piece
I'm sorry, but this was the first time I have ever disliked your video Dr.Wily. The reason is that I find this comparison to be unfair and poorly made. Comparing Vaati with full access to all his power against Yuga with only a portion of his, is just disprespectfull. Yuga spendt the whole game gathering power, fused with Ganon and obtained two pieces of the Triforce, Vaati spendt the game doing much the same, but the only reason you could not count the fusion of Ganon was... What? Your reason was unspecific and would fit for both Vaati and Yuga. Yuga was the one in the steering wheel during YuGanon fusion. He was the one in controll, while Ganon who's mind was broken at that point, acted more as a savage subcontious. If Vaati is to be judged fairly then he should not be compared when possesing the Lightforce, maybe not even the Magus cap as that isn't purely his own power. But that too would end up with the same gimping, but this time in reverse! By discounting all the work Yuga has done, on a mute technicallity, just ruins the point of this whole video, while also making it annoyingly onesided. I came here wanting to see both sorcerers going at it fair and square, and instead I get a loopsided kicking. While I enjoy your content I was expectiong more from you. I love both of these characters, and I am very passionate about Zelda in general. This is not a case of Nerd-rage, but rather Fan-disappointment. Please don't do us dirty like this.

What would happen if Vaati and Ganondorf ended up in a fight?
In a straight up fight with both of them in their prime ends with Vaati getting massacred.
Even without it Ganon would put up a fight with him.
@Retro Entertainment Channel I agree, but Ganondorf without the triforce of power, is like Vaati without the magic cap.

I think you overpower the minish wish hat a bit too much, it is not that powerful and unlimited kupo
