- Project Kuleana’s 6th video, Nā Keiki O Ka Pūnana Leo O Maui celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pūnana Leo o Maui.
-
Project KULEANA was created by three Native Hawaiian men who share the perspective that KULEANA is what makes music Hawaiian. A KULEANA to the ‘āina (land) and our strong ancestral connection to it. Project KULEANA aspires to increase the innate value of Hawaiian music and the performance of it to inspire people to reflect on one’s own KULEANA. Project KULEANA seeks to encourage people to re-discover, re-connect and re-instill what Hawaiian music and performers of Hawaiian music represent.
In collaboration with Nā Leo Pūlama o Maui, Inc - the parent and community support group for Pūnana Leo o Maui - and with support from the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority and the Kimokeo Foundation, ʻŌiwi TV was honored to collaborate with the Project KULEANA team to produce Project KULEANA Maui. Coinciding with the celebration of Pūnana Leo o Maui’s 30th anniversary, this is the 6th Project KULEANA production and features keiki, graduates, limahana, and makua Pūnana Leo recorded live at various locations on Maui; all great examples of the many who daily ʻauamo their kuleana to ensure our ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi lives on. - เพลง
For those who don't know Punana Leo O Maui is a Hawaiian language.immersion school on Maui starting with the very young among us.
The parents are considered partners in learning and required to spend significant time in the class room with the children. It is an exceptional program.
I swell with pride, and shed tears of happiness. You are our FUTURE. Mahalo and Blessing to all of you.
Love that the children are continuing our culture
This is the most beautiful music on the planet ❤️
Y E S, Y E S & Y E S 🌞🌞🌞🌿🤩🙋🏼♀️
Being born n raised on kauai this is tradition proud to see the next generation carry on the culture . malama straight from my pu'uwai.
This beautiful presentation and family gathering represents the true meaning of Ohana and Aloha. I was born in the wrong country.
Garry.
Australian by birth. Hawaiian by choice. Aloha Nui.
From Ghana africa, I don't understand your language but am deeply touched by your culture, what a nice song keep it up
Basically the song says “hele au I ke kula mai Maui ma ka punana Leo o Maui.” Meaning “I come to hawaiian immersion school on Maui and to learn to ‘ōlelo Hawaii at school”. Our language WAS dead and is being brought back to life through people who choose to learn the language. Without the language there is death but with our language so near and dear to our heart, there is life. E ola mau mākou o ka lahui o Hawaii nei, ‘ano’i wau iā ‘oukou.

I love the voices of the children! This was lost on my generation.
Okay, I am sitting here in Crawfordsville Indiana and I have developed an absolute fondness fHawaiian music. Beautiful voices, melodies and harmonies. This particular melody is the same one we sing for the Christian hymn The Sweet Bye and Bye. Gorgeous!
I love when our people gather together to show the world the beauty of our culture and heritage!
Greetings from Minahasa, Love this😍😍.
The hawaiian people its just looks like minahasan people here in north sulawesi, indonesia

I have watched this beautiful video many times and every time it brings tears to my eyes. And knowing that in the fifties schools were not allowing us to learn Hawaiian. Be proud my people of your beautiful heritage! Aloha!
Proud to have been part of Punanaleo O Maui
Aloha mai e nā pua o Māuinuiakama. Maikaʻi nō kēlā mele. Haʻahaʻa au. Mahalo nui loa.
I feel like you guys are my lost family. I’m an Alifuru tribe in Molo’uku Islands. People say, Moluccans are Melanesian. But I believe we are Melanesian+Polynesian. Moluccan people are just like Polynesian people. Our culture, language and traditions share a common value to the people in other Pacific Islanders as well, Polynesian to be exact.
Aloha kakahiaka from Maui!!
Mahalo for your manao, I learned something new
Moluccan not polynesian IDIOT 🤣👎
I like Hawaiian songs ever since Elvis Presley played in Blue Hawaii.
Miro y escucho a este maravilloso grupo cantando y felices me gustaría saber como se encuentran hoy Agosto 2023 luego del devastador incendio ....deseo de ❤ se encue tren todos bien...saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱♥️
It's Amazing when children speak Hawaiian. Enjoy the singing ABSOLUTELY
Keali'i Reichel once said in a PBS documentary:"If we lose our language, we lose our culture and our identity." In a lot of cultures, to learn the language of your ancestors is must.
Speak português 🇧🇷👌 lol vidio 👌

Maika'i E'o Punana Leo O Maui.
PrijectKULENA..lyric please...
I've been looking for the lyrics (in Hawaiian) of this cheerful song, but sofar without success. Can anyone point me to where I can find them (NOT on facebook etc.)? Of naybe, assuming they're in the public domain, post them here? BTW, I live 7000+ miles from Maui, but distance doesn't matter when it comes to music and song.
So pretty
Maika'i Loa... e ola mau I ka 'olelo makuahine.
Can someone suggest where I can get the words to this song. Mahalo
Lealavaa Malo
Were you given an answer? If not. My suggestion would be to contact punana leo o maui and asl them. But I can try ask friends of mine.
ハワイの風が 吹いている。(^_-)-☆マハロ

Bless you all!

punana Leo o maui
Is this in Maui
The “Aina “of Hawaii belongs to the children, yet we have to do a better job of securing their future here on the islands. Far too often, the children leave to find education and learning on the mainland and only return to see their ohana when convenient. There are huge opportunities here in medicine and other careers. Stay in school, study hard, and come home....the islands need children who become adults and return to make their destiny whole again!
Its sounds like the christian hymn "in the sweet by and by"
