Great video 👍 Between your channel and the Constitutional Clarion I'm really beginning to appreciate just how much the wild west of pre-federation politics has/continues to shape modern Australian politics, much more than I was ever taught at school
The issue isnt politicians being paid a salary. The issue is when politicians use their insider information to trade stocks. Or when politicians are bribed to pass legislation. If a politician is offered a high paying position after they retire that is effectively the same thing as a bribe yet strangely is not treated as such. Any politician that becomes truly wealthy was very likely involved in something shady.
Great stuff David. It might be outside your scope, but could you make a video explaining how we ended up with a two party system? Particularly considering we have the benefit of preferential voting
I think one of the things most people don’t like is sometimes those working for politicians are being paid massive amounts. Eg Malcolm Turnbull chief of staff was on $800,000 a year. Yes it is a massive job but that much amounts to more then $15,000 a week

.... just curious, how would one get a job like that? Asking for a friend.
@@AuspolExplained if I knew I had one lol.
@@AuspolExplained 😏If you're willing to work for me I'm sure we could come to an agreement
I think that every single democracy has this problem and unfortunately it's a big one
I wasn't aware this was a controversial opinion 😊
A shame this video didn't do well. It's well made and coherent, probably needs to be posed as a question
Well you could always share it directly with friends and family to boost its views 👀
