- this is the Y pipe I added in replacement of my flowmaster super 10 I had to install because of a ticket I got from having this on before. i have the 318 5.2 engine with Gibson shorty headers, cold air intake, and super chip.

My uncle has a 1999 dodge ram with a 5.9 gas engine. Its got the stock cat with a y pipe and dual cherrybomb mufflers with some fancy tips. It sounds great
My exhaust stops under the passenger door with a flow master like that all it has is a empty cat box it sounds so good and it doesn’t clap as well as it being loud
My sec gen sounds just like that with duals all the way with a flow master
My dad's got a stock 01 with a straight pipe and it sounds pretty gnarly👌🏻
People run open headers. Which is a massive exhaust leak. Don't sit in one spot idling idling hours and you'll be fine

At 2:41-2:42 when it pops you can see a little gray puff of exhaust upfront next to the trans filter but doesn’t sound like you have any leaks

do you have spacers added for tire ext. you have a good lookin 2nd get sounds great. but at 2:41 you have a pop come from underneath bad weld ?
if you use the y pipe and 2 super 10s it would sound better than just that single in dial out.

My exhaust fell of… because Dodge in New York salt… and it sounded really manly. Ended up fixing it and it just doesn’t sound right anymore. Holes in the cat, holes in the pipe, missing muffler. Now it just doesn’t sound right - it’s almost silent.

We had a 97 Dakota with the 5.2 and I sold it with 310k on the original motor and trans... the thing is still running strong... when had it since 97. Sold it and bought a 5.9 99 ram. I love these trucks

Everything Outdoors the only thing I’ll say that’s bad about the 5.9s are the gas mileage... I’m young and like to rev it up and have a little fun and might be a little heavy with gas pedal, but man they are nice looking trucks and strong as hell as well. Same with the 5.2s those things will last a long time.

2:40 you've got a leak at the tips. Get it fixed or warp your paint and melt the bedliner. Noticed with the backfire.

It'll make the engine noise louder, but not the exhaust

Yeah lol. This is probably a little louder if you have yours cats still. If you dont have your cats its definitely way louder.

Oo.. it sounds great! Yeah.. I don't like flows because they smooth out the tone. Man.. I just bought a 1500 with a 5.2, the exhaust setup is pretty cool \interesting, including a long Flowmaster, probably a 40. I'm about to go 3" duals w/Borla Pro xs's!😈

Bumpers was autoanything, rims were discount tire, and the exhaust was made by a local shop

We have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 but ours is a 5.9 360 bigger then the 318 so is it gunna be louder?
kyle a buddy of mine has a 2000 ram1500 with the 5.9 he had true duals straight pipe and it was super loud he recently put 2 flowmaster super 10s and still is pretty loud but yea the 360 is way louder

Super chips programmer. It dont have much to do with how it sounds.

Your tips is what gives you the sound. You dont want rolled tips. These are 4.5" tips, and yes I have a Y pipe. The Y pipe may have a little to do with it but I've had my exhaust redone 4 times and the tips is what makes the sound. I had to cut my tips off when I put the lift on and my truck was instantly quiet. I could hold the tip up to the pipe and it would have the sound again

Think u have an exhaust leak. Watch under the engine when u rev it up, u can see fire shoot down. Might wanna get that checked.
Jamie White yeah my header is leaking I gotta get a thicker gasket. Gibson dosent send a good gasket with there headers
Figured it was a hole or bad gasket, just depends on the situation it could be dangerous.
Jamie White after I looked at the video it's my LEDs they were messing up I have them unhooked now
But the gasket on the header is leaking. It's been leaking since this time last year I took in on and off 4 times and I couldn't get that one side(driver side) to seal. I was told to get a bigger gasket and it would fix. I was gonna get a new ac compressor but the one I have started working fine again so I might fix it sometime soon Gibson headers are bitch to put on with out taking the motor out. I'll have to do a video on that one. I get so pissed doing it.

Does the chip actually do some good to the truck I have same engine in my 01
I usually keep it on 87 performance. You can also notice a big difference with the mpg saver but the truck will run at like half power. The more engine mods you have the more of a difference you will notice

@@E30Tylerrr with 4.56 gears and 37s about 14-15. If I run at 55-60 on like a high way I will see closer to a 17 average. Probably higher when I'm only doing that though. Interstate at 70ish is about the same as city cause rpms run around 2k

The 318 is a good engine for sure. Has enough hp with good torque

Not having a muffler and it was out of state. And yes it's legal for them to do that. If something on your truck is legal in one state and then you drive it to the next they can make you take it off and fine you.

Thanks man and no. Back in 2016 when I got the truck a had flowmaster 40 and dual pipes straight out the back. I had the muffler shop cut them off at the cats and put a Y pipe after the cat and put duals out the side. With 4" tips. It was $250. That's what I have now. Just putting the y pipe back on was $75

1st gen is the square body dodges. Each new body style is another gen. 1st gen dodges were called d150, d250, extc.

@@dieseljunky8505 well they make the best shit for that. 4 link rears and all. The specialize in the second gen. It takes a while to get parts from them and that was before the rona. Their lifts range from a 3" to 20" all suspension. The 20" lift is about $25,000 though
I have their 3" with the single adjustable short arms. My front axle is offset 1.75" forward. My rear axle is offset a 1/2" backwards (idk why). I added a 2.5" front leveling kit on top of the spring. Also got rear 2500 leafs springs with an extra leaf which lifts it an extra 2"s. So total I have about an 5.5" lift. All that plus my yukon 4.56 gears front and rear, all new u joints and ball joints, and wheel bearing was about $4.5k with some used 37x13.5 toyos I found off Facebook. Oh and if you do the crossover steering, and only if you do it. Do your self a favor and take off that damn sway bar. Dont buy an aftermarket one. Just take it off.

I'd recommend staying away from glasspacks on these trucks they sound horrible I'd rather have straights that's what I'm running now till I get long tubes and custom exhaust
@@jasonsimmons9309 if you dont mind drink a bit more gas then yeah. You can try the spark plug non fouler trick and it works some times not always. Only reason it's not recommended on these trucks. I have a 88 f150 with only 1 02 sensor before the cat. I cut the cats off of it. Also long tube headers are pointless on a truck unless you have a high performance engine running 3k rpms+ all the time. Short tubes are way better.
@@reynoldscustoms8646 I get way better gas mileage since I got rid of the cat and the non Fouler works great you can literally take the rear sensor out and zip tie it to the frame and itll run fine as long as your front sensor is in. Also in the process of building a 5.9 that's why I want long tubes. Have you heard of marty Fletcher with utawesome performance

There is not Much of a difference just a different sound huh ? Ahahah
Not really much the 5.2 magnum and 5.9 magnum stock has only a 30-40 hp difference between the 2. Most parts for the 5.2 and 5.9 from heads up are about the same part and are interchangeable. Stock 5.9 comes with a very weak cam which balances it out to where the power made is about the same. Now the 5.2 also comes with a smaller cam but not as small as the 5.9.
