Feedback as I go along. Hope this gets to devs. Speed: since blocks cover the speed number, either the speed has to be to the side of the block or they start covered and you remove blocks to see the highest value.
Fair suggestion. We appreciate the feedback! Discussions between making that block clear and putting the speeds on the side of the little wells for the block have been circling in the office for a little while. Thank you for the vote you unintentionally cast in our internal office poll.
@coyotemoon722 Thank you for the compliment! Our illustrators and graphic designers are top notch! (Being only a writer and designer I feel okay hyping them up) That being said, we've been doubling our efforts in the error detection department over the recent months. It is our desire to catch and fix any and all errors noticed before printing!
Oh yes, don't worry, literally none of these components have been proofed by our copywriting and proofing members of our team. Right now its just alllll under the purview of the rough n tumble design & dev team. Once we're happy with all the effects and mechanics we'll do a whole big massive series of proofing and re-writing passes. :-)
Nice catch! Absolutely right. There are some card effects in the game that allow you to spend your potential early before unlocking it... but in this case it was indeed a goof. Huge respect to your bird of prey like attention to detail. 🦅
Can you use a chop bot ability if you don't activate them? Also, in vindication you have to visit the location to take control. It looks like she did neither and took control of the lawmaker tower as a free action.
In the beta build of the game being played in the video, chop bots are activated like contacts by putting influence on them to gain attributes. However, their text ability isn't active until a chop bot has two blocks on them. Once a chop bot has two blocks on them, their ability becomes passively active for as long as there is at least 2. Additionally, once a chop bot is "fully charged" in this way, you can then activate them without needing to add more influence on them to gain attributes! In regards to your area control question, in this current version of Vestige you need not spend your visit action on a region before taking control. Now being adjacent to a desired region and having the requisite concentration are the only requirements to seize dominion as a free action.
Shouldn't there be 1 less subversion in play per side than there are players in order for it to be a catch-up mechanic? Or is it more like you get a mission and so have more stuff to keep track of and accomplish seeing as you get even more points if you complete the subversion? If it was truly a catch-up mechanic it would make more sense to get negative points if you fail to complete it and nothing additional if you succeed.
@fredrikpalsson3671 Currently the subversions have different levels of difficulty, and thus the first subversion in the stacks are more difficult to complete, thus accomplishing the goal of it being a catch up mechanic. Thanks for the suggestion about adjusting their points! We'll take that under consideration!
@ericplacoly3202 Thanks for pointing this out! In the original game Vindication, that was the rule for taking control of regions! However, in this current beta build of Vestige, it is disconnected from the visit action. Taking control of a region is now a free action that only requires adjacency and the spending of concentration. In regards to your second point, you're correct. Any time you gain control of a region, you gain leverage equal to the leverage displayed on the top of the region tile. When lacey took control of the Chop Shop, she should have gained its leverage. Whoops! We welcome and appreciate your investigations, inspector 🧐
@@JaredLingle thanks for the precision... actually I don't know Vindication but I remembered something about that from the "How to play" video. Good to know then and already looking forward to receiving my pledge :)
There are several differences between this video and the rules in the beta version of the rulebook... Which is most up to date? For example, how to pursue jobs is totally different...
Great question. All these things are in active development, akin to early access in a video game! This video is a more up to date ruleset than the rulebook presented at the start of the campaign.
@FallenRaven Great question! Our friend @diversonArchitect is correct when they say that you can at any time return influence to your pool from anywhere as a free action. There are some instances where there is a penalty for returning it (returning blocks from a contact in this way causes them to leave your network and you lose their leverage, or returning a higher tier attribute to influence will mean you'll need to perform more attribute alchemy before you have more of that resource...). Hope this helps!
@alterskater Awesome question! Our original game Vindication, who's skeleton was adopted and evolved into Vestige, has been scored by the majority of BGG voters as a 3/5 medium complexity game. My anticipation is that Vestige will get a similar rating once it is released!
They had this problem in Vindication too, particularly on the attribute die. It was brought up then as well, and received probably about as much attention as your comment will get.
@ I have Vindication and know what you mean. In reality once you start playing it’s not a problem, and their colours are lovely and muted as a colour palette. I think it’s always worth giving them the feedback and they often respond directly to the community. As long as critical game play issues get ironed out the colours will be fine. Thanks for supporting my comment.
Indeed! Thanks for calling this out! That was a minor mistake I missed and didn't correct her on in the moment, likely because I was piecing together my own strategy.
Is it possible that the graphic design of the Attribute board will be changed? The how-to makes a big deal about how natural the "color combining" mechanism is, but there's no indication on the board to mark which are "primary colors" and which are "secondary colors". And the specific hues you've chosen don't make the distinction clear at all - in particular, to me Guile looks way more yellow than Ambition, which is actually supposed to be yellow. The "green" shade is really murky and so it doesn't really read as "green" to me, and the "blue" is more like cyan which is traditionally a secondary color. Of all six colors, only the pinkish Ingenuity is immediately clear whether it's primary or secondary. All of that would be pretty much fixed if there was just a clear marking of "primary" and "secondary" attributes on the board. A triangle in the middle with points on the Primary hexes, or arrows pointing from the primaries to the secondaries to indicate where you move things to combine them, or something. Aside from the primary/secondary problem, I do think the attribute colors in general are pretty bad - the "yellow", "orange", and "green" shades all look very similar, which will make reading the costs of things on the various cards and hexes annoying. It's good that you have distinct shape icons for each color too, but those are so tiny on the hexes in particular that it doesn't help much.
Redemption is still my favourite game so hoping this game Essence will be as good (there's a joke in there somewhere 😉) But going to be brutally honest. The thing I and many if not most people hated in Vindication was the end rules: Would a game finish in 25 minutes or take 2 hours? will turning over a card immediately end the game sucking all the fun out of it creating an anti climax, nobody knew! And this pretty poor and lazy system that seemingly only the designers like has been carried over to Vestige with no change?
Not that interesting, I was hoping more theme will come out. The few plays from Vindication, it looks like that was better, even if it doesn't deserve the price it has. Vestige as a alternative for 49$, still not good enough. Best of luck with the campaign. I'll will not back this one.
Am i only one or does it feel more push your luck? Vindication Felt more sandbox And sure There was also luck, but from stream lined version of vindication i expected something else i Guess. dice rolling Is random And can Slow you totally down. Imagine you spend concentration to look at three contacts And then losing IT. Jobs And contracts feel like luck fest too. Someone Is already halfway to complete And another Is like no way i can do that or do i wanr to change my whole plan to secure 10 points? Idk guys, i might grab just planets And stuff for vindication.
i was wondering the same.. i have backed this but i am starting to think i am blown away by the look of this game rather than actually needing this if I already have vindication.
Hey, we're bummed to hear you feel that way, but please rest assured that we're VERY proud and confident about this game and want to show it off all over the place all the time. The videos were shared as soon as we could possibly get them ready. :-) Vestige is indeed very much a euro, just like its progenitor, Vindication. If you liked how Vindication feels, you'll like this. If that euroness isn't your thing and you want more story and narrative driven surprises and things like that, it might not be a great fit. Glad you're here, thank you for watching!
@@OrangeNebula Thanks for the reply, I love euros and enjoyed Vindication but it felt too "cube-pushing the game" for me to own. This feels like the same thing with an even more disconnected theme. Nice playthrough. The table presence is awesome.
It was nice to see Vestige in action. I’m looking forward to play the final product.
Great play-through guys, can’t wait to see how the game develops, it’s very cool!
I really like the end game scoring cards with built in catch up mechanic.

What happens when you roll the die and you get the result in 57:00, but you have no influence left in your pool?
You can at any time return influence to your pool right? So you should be able to do that in order to pay the cost.

Could Lacy not save her contact by paying concentration?
In Vestige, you can spend a concentration to reroll the outcome die!
Would be nice to have a duel-layer board to stop players knocking the locations 😀
Did Lacy get Might and Ambition from potential, rather than Inspiration?
