Mercury Racing 500R Launch Event and on the Water Testing in Charleston South Carolina.

A 50th anniversary party and the new V8 supercharged 500R were celebrated on June 14th. This video shows event highlights, test boats and a run in the Performance 360 catamaran with twin 500R.
The 500R is the new standard in high HP outboards, with incredible features including internal engine updates, a newly designed mid section "advanced racing core", and two new gearcases called R Drive and R Drive Sport built for 500+ horsepower, featuring a 1.5" prop shaft. Humidity calibration, a 6600 RPM range and more.
Built for the ultra high performance sport catamaran market and the performance center console market, the 500R can be configured to work in many applications where 80+ MPH or 100+ MPH is the operating speed. 20" to 35" shaft lengths are available for any multiengine configuration.
R Drive has a changeable nose cap for maximizing water intake, left or right camber for offsetting steering torque. The R Drive Sport has a longer skeg designed for 100+ MPH and a cambered skeg option for single engine use.
