Episodes like this are interesting as a producer/engineer, because we're doing all the recording and mixing from scratch, often in the same session. It sounds nice to be able to just pass that to someone to finish it, or to get a mix job that's already half done
Wassup y’all, love the podcast! Just a reminder that some of us that watch are not as knowledgeable in regards to engineering as y’all and we watch to learn. Would be dope if when you’re using certain terms, an onscreen definition could pop up in the corner so we have a better idea of what you’re talking about. All love keep goin hard!
Real talk as somebody who’s been mixing for a longtime and looking to get out of the tracking field just because of the environments you get thrown in these days. This interview really made me want to sit and hone in on those skills I gained early on that make my recordings that I mix myself sound so good. The basics of making sure mics are positioned correctly and choosing the right pieces. Committing to some of those decisions compressing. All of it is so important in creating the vibes on records. So thank yall for this one. Omar Loya just became one of my favorites.
Ive used both a lot and feel like Waves Tune Real-Time can get what I'm looking for most of the time, from subtle to hard. and lots of different other options. And also always latency free when recording!
If your singer is not waay way out of tune also messing with the time tolerance and cents can get that real smooth tune! But also maybe I'm just used to it. Found it a long time ago and never found Antares worth paying for after that..
thank you so much... that auto tune talk was really therapeutic for me! All the problems you described: low latency mode on off on again, windows to Mac, old versions, etc.. I had ALL of those
The tracking engineer is like the photographer, and the mixing engineer is the editor of the magazine. Thats how I look at it, but photographers are held in such a high place. Lets do this for recording engineers.
Love this for Omar! Truly one of the most talented hard working being I know! Very humble and deserves all the recognition he gets! Love that he's Reppin Raza 🇲🇽😎🇲🇽 Great Interview! ❤
The ear is so damned unique, but these guys hear on a different level. Idk if I’ll ever have the sensitivity to hear like them. This dude said he can hear different eras of mixing.
hi Devvon I was wondering if you could do a video bout your onto compressor hardware from audioscape as I recently saw your video about their eqpa and I bought it recently and I've been trying to get into hardware and I feel that would also help any other people that are on the fence as I'm thinking of copping the Otto comp from them
We need a problems and issues on plugins episode... top issues or most popular problems we as artist, engineers, and mix/mastering engineers encounter... we need this pod asap ..!!
I just watched the Travis Scott -TILL FURTHER NOTICE Mix with the masters breakdown and honestly the mix engineer did not do much. All credit goes to whoever tracked it
I finally had one of those moments where you just throw your headphones down in frustration because of a mix, I don’t know if it’s my headphones or what 😭😭
As a cinematographer and artist I just wanna thank Courtney for that first AC and second AC sidebar never thought both my worlds could come together 😂 this is great my audio nerds is my favorite podcast by far at this point 🔥🔥
@@Teamzavala carnal Devon got mad at my comment and asked me to take it down immediately lmaoo but then I guess he realized he was over reacting and deleted it lol
Man Omar is dope! I always felt that us engineers do not get enough credit! and you guys are bringing it to the forefront is amazing. @TheRealMixedByBL
If you couldn’t tell, this is truly one of my favorite episodes to date! Enjoy!
Me and Omar were in the same class in engineering school so this makes me so happy
I knew it

Speaking of a nerdy quirk, can logic please allow changes to the faders be corrected/undone with the command+Z?
29:35 THIS‼️‼️‼️
As a fl engineer autotune does not load with low latencey enabled, only if the preset is saved enabled in the template -kel

Autotune bugs, just like every software company that doesn't have real competition in their specific market, because they know you can't quit them.
the singers using tune cant sing narrative is killing me...
Get Dj Quik on
