My 67 Buick Skylark has the same exact rear shock mount set up, and I knew how it would come off. But the only thing in my period floor shop manual is it makes no mention that the top bolts that hold the shock in place with the frame are separate an not an integral part of the frame. I was worried because my car has its original rear shocks since new (1967) and I figure that the rust will fight me. Seeing that the top bolts are separate and not frame studs, I can sleep a bit more soundly at night if I snap them off completely. This video has been the more intuitive I've found on youtube, thank you for posting it online for us!

nice video question is there a reason why you switch the bolt around and put it in the top because it wasn't like that when you took it out or it doesn't matter which way the nut and bolt go as long as it's tightening up

Just curious does this apply to a 1985 Buick lesabre as well? They seem to be similar and the 80s caprice is kind of like the lesabre in these years and nice video it's very informative

I put the shocks on the back of my 1989 Pontiac Grand Am and now I think they're coming unscrewed from the top and making a gap so that the back of my car bounces to the width of the space? I tried to tighten up the shock with the top bolt and the whole shock spins. I think I tried to hold on to the shock with water pump pliers and I couldn't turn the bolt. What on Earth is going on?
