    I think I saw in an interview that he lost his dog in 2020, which was also a very tough year for him, having to deal with COVID matters at the same time while dealing with personal pain . Respect to this guy!

    Mr Wong and his family have sacrificed their personal life in serving the nation. He likely the last to leave the office as he likely to stay back to assist his successor just like previous 3 PM did. Life is fated and work strangely. If its yours, its yours. If its not your calling, no matter how hard you try it wont work. Its great to see he selected 2 experienced deputies to assist him. Btw just read local article on National fencing champion Puah Zee Cher have to ownself sponsor for overseas competition by doing odd jobs such as dish washing, waitering. He did not qualify for govt. funding cos of his low rank. He has to work to secure own funding instead of resting for competion. How come there is no case by case by the relevant officials ? Try to put yourself in the shoes of these aspiring young men and women and dont shut the door tight for anyone to get in. Not everyone earns more than $ 4 k a month. Cultivate empathy, that will help you to make wiser decision. Search for dark horses from unlikely places. No one notice his talents or just keep quiet about it ??? Walk the ground. Very happy to read the reporter report his aspiring story instead of sweeping under the carpet. Hope the govt take charge and refine the system.

    I'm glad that our PM can speak the mother tongue just like ex-PM Lee. Many Singaporeans being primarily schooled in English now regard Chinese with quite a little bit of disdain. The predominant use of English unavoidably influences our point of view to become more aligned with that of the Anglo-Saxon world.
    We're also easy target of western media propaganda not least of all that of our own CNA which very apparently is infiltrated by NED/CIA and staffed with many journalists from countries like the Philippines or India who are similarly indoctrinated to toe the western line.
    Some Singaporeans even take pride in speaking Chinese haltingly as if this is a mark of social progress. Fact is the overwhelming majority don't speak English well either:
    Can't speak mother tongue properly + Can't speak English well = Good for nothing
    Good for nothing + Pretend to be perfectly in tune with all things Christian and Anglo-Saxon = KEH ANGMOH

    Lawrence Wong is the least polarising of the 4th generation of leaders. Same with his two deputies, solid and dependable people.
    Singapore does not care for populists or colourful characters as leaders. The more unspectacular, the better.

    • @chromegoh5817
      @chromegoh5817 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Not sure if our definition of "having iron" are similar, but my thoughts are that someone that has "some iron in him/her" might not be selected by the peers (or even voters) in this era.
      I guess Singaporeans in this era are totally different from 1965-2000. After WW2, we desperately in need of a leader that "have iron" to steer the country out of turmoil asap.
      Nowadays, everyone is highly educated, people want to be more participative and their views to be heard, and this warrants the emergence of a more receptive and open kind of leader. This is not a bad thing but I thought there should be some balance between both.
      This reminds me of in the olden days, "parents are really parents" whereas nowadays, "parents are more like friends"...

His calm and collected leadership with a strong touch of empathy drew people to him while CCS' abrasive manner rubbed people the wrong way.
