    Jerry, thanks for your video. However, I do have a word of caution. By taking the repeater to the room where you have weak signal from the original source router, all you do is repeat that weak signal. You may see 5 bars on your computer or other device, but that 5 bars is coming from the repeater, which broadcasts a week 3 bar signal. If you think you get a 5 bar source signal, that is incorrect.
    What is needed is to place the repeater in a spot in your house where it still picks up a decent nr of bars, like 4 from the source router.
    In the room where you want to use wifi you may only receive 4 bars from the repeater, but you still get a relatively strong 4 bar wifi signal from the source router. On your computer or other device you may only get 4 bars from the repeater, but that is still broadcasting a 4 bar signal from the source router. So you do have improvement. But in the way you demonstrate you just get a weak 3 bar wifi connection, from a strong 5 bar repeater signal,

    Thank you so very much. I followed you a few years ago it was brilliant. A friend came to add an extra down stairs. ALL WENT WRONG. she did it via a app on phone. I’m gutted. Will I be able to RESET and do it all over again. I want one extender in my bedroom. And one down stairs in basement. Many thanks DONNA. so looking forward hearing back from you. Incidentally I’ve since got Fibre optic in with that make a difference. Thank you

    I want to use it to form mesh wifi network by connecting it to Tplink Archer A6 router. Will it produce same strength of wifi signals in mesh network as that of secondary router? Router is in first floor, RE200 will be in 2nd floor.

      you won't get any speed improvement though as 2.4 ghz will be the bottleneck

  • @bobtheelectrician6692
    @bobtheelectrician6692 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Unless you create new extended networks, you may not have internet connectivity at all. Just cloning the original name gave me nothing but problems. The documentation states that these units only work in half-duplex mode rather than the normal full-duplex of a router, so expect speeds to suffer some. Your 2.4 gadgets will probably reach half the speed of a normal good connection, but your range and reliability will be improved. Consider these a stop-gap way to make a marginal connection more tolerable.

    Hi, i just bought my re200 tplink expander. I actually connected and install it, but im too confused why I cant see my tplink expander connected. Its too late for me to know that i wont see the tplink expander instead you will see the main routers name. So what i did was i reset my tp link expander but i cant install now and its not working though i can see and have signal for the expander. When i connect my laptop to the tplink expander its not working anymore. I cant reset my main router bc doesnt have wps. Anyone would help me with this? Thank you so much

      there is a pin hole. why plugged press button inside using a pin

    • @bobtheelectrician6692
      @bobtheelectrician6692 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hard wire your pc to the ethernet port, plug it in and stick a pin into the reset hole. Wait a minute, then type 192.168.0.254 into your browser address line. (you may have to repeat this a few times to successfully get the log-in window). You should then be back at the set-up menu. For each frequency, don't just clone the original channel names.. create custom ones with _ext at the end of the name. You can use the original passwords, and then log in to the _ext networks on any device that has difficulty with the original router. Expect a more reliable signal but a possible drop in speed.

    These things are completely useless if you can't use that ethernet port for WAN. Why? Because you are basically repeating an already weak signal. It'll help the dead spots but you definitely won't get the speeds you're paying for, which is unacceptable.

    • @jerrysview9873
      @jerrysview9873  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great comment, good point but we also have to understand that wifi is never speed reliable. WAN is for convenience and not for performance. Coz as simple as a dry wall can affect it performance. We use repeaters so we can have the convenience on all the place of your house. I would think walking around in the house with a cable connected to the a device is to much hustle.
