  • Come and enjoy a cab ride down Blackpool sea front in the UK, a 1 hour cab view on a 90 year old historic tram. Taking in some of Blackpool's finest weather (for February it could have been worse).
What are your favorite memories of Blackpool? Everybody seems to have a story and they are great to hear!
This 1 hour journey was on board on of the Heritage Prom Tours (blackpoolheritage.com/) and amazingly cost me just £6 for a 1 hour journey on tram 700, a tram built right back in 1934. For a nearly 90 year old tram she was spotless and really smooth, the only issues we had was with the wind on the day, gusting against the double decker vintage tram. Of course the view out of the front was impacted by the weather, but anybody that has visited Blackpool is more than aware you don't let the weather stop you having fun. In all honesty the tram tour was a perfect escape from the bad weather and it was well heated and comfortable.
This tour runs from North Pier up to Little Bispham, back town to Pleasure Beach and then returning to North Pier, using the special heritage stop at the start and the end.
There are a number of heritage tram tours operated and they also cater for private functions and other events, the website is well worth looking at and the tours are really good value.

Great video. I lived there in the fifties and sixties and use to take the tram from Norbreck to Little Bispham, to get to school. We used to say that "if you could see The Isle of Man it was a sign of rain and if you couldn't see it. It was raining"

I live over near Burnley and we have the exact same saying about Pendle Hill 😂 it must be a lancashire thing, you have to be used to the rain to live around here!

I am lucky, this one is very local to me (30 minutes in the car) so we went a lot as a kid, I always remember my parents marching me as far down the sea front as humanly possible on little legs then we would get the tram back to the car, so the tram has very happy memories for me!
Worst thing is, I did exactly the same thing with my 2 year old not long ago, I have become my parents!

This was during a storm we had at the start of February, there is another one currently battering the coast but they had to stop all trams (historic and modern) this time. Some of my best memories of Blackpool are getting dragged about by my parents in weather like this, it's all part of the fun

I had my 2 year old with me this day, she loves trams. She couldn't stand up in the wind, luckily she was safe enough for us to see the funny side, she was trying to walk but getting nowhere
