I have never before read so much inaccuracy in an article. Lived here 80 years I have never felt threatened. I.have never heard of problems with pick pockets. Public transport is fine a tramway along the seafront to Fleetwood. Plenty of Banks with cash machines. Parts of Blackpool have become rather rundown but there is a huge rebuilding scheme in progress.
I've lived in Blackpool most of my life. I've never heard of anyone having their pockets picked. All buses, trams and taxis take contactless payments. Booking tickets when booking accommodation? Really? Never heard that one before... I have never met anyone being disappointed with the illuminations. Yes it isn't like a light show in Las Vegas, or Dubai, but that is the charm of the illuminations.
Yeh i dont think you'd need to pre-book attractions at the same time as hotels but I think you can see a difference with the gate price on the day. Love Blackpool, coming down again in September. It's a shame how some people don't like this place as a holiday destination but you can't win them all. I still love the pleasure beach and I'm 31 😃 I have been in Yate's and nearly had my phone nicked when i'd had it on charge - I do think you need to keep an eye on your valuables in the crowds but never felt unsafe. :) I think when you go makes the difference in terms of atmosphere and things to do ❤
I have visited Blackpool many times both for a weeks holiday and day trips and not once have i ever had my pockets picked, nor witnessed any crime, and i was there in the 60s and 70s when the town was much busyer than it is now. I am sure that pickpockets do operate in blackpool as they do in many other large towns and citys in the uk
This video offers terrible advice. I live in Blackpool and a lot of this is extremely outdated. Firstly, trams do accept contactless payments, or you can download your digital ticket on the app. Secondly, there is PLENTY to do in Blackpool outside of the main season. Most of our attractions remain open midweek in the off-season and this is the best time to visit them as the crowds are a lot lower! We also grave the World Firework Championships in September and October, plus the new Christmas By The Sea event which brings lots of people here during the winter. The theatres are actually at their busiest in November and December, so again, a good time to come and see a show! Just seems a bit negative…
Although violent crime in Blackpool has increased in recent years, even the most dangerous Blackpool postcodes are still safer than some areas of London!
The blackpool resort pass is only for the merlin attractions and does not include pleasure Beach or the zoo and you can use contactless on buses and trams. Need to get your info right next time
I remember visiting Blackpool in August of 2015, pretty much the only mistake we made was number 11. But apart from that I thought Blackpool was a nice place, that's only because we never ventured beyond the coastal side of the town.
Blackpool's season is a lot longer than June to September. The Illuminations are fantastic, they start around the 30th August when the 6 miles of the Promenade they run along. is shut to cars so people can ride the lights on all shapes n sizes of bicycles. A lot which are light up. The Illuminations run from September until 1 January but had an extra week in January this year. The international fireworks compilation in September and October is brilliant, so is the Lightpool festival in November and Christmas by the sea in December. And of course the Airshow in August. Out of season is a good time for locals to enjoy the town when it's not too busy. Blackpool being on the west coast have amazing sunsets all year but unfortunately we do get too much rain. And maybe to much wind but I do love watching the big waves on a good high tide. The starlings are fantastic to watch doing their murmurations at sunset at North Pier. On clear days we do get fantastic views of the Lake District mountains, North Wales and if you're really lucky the Isle of Man.
If Blackpool is good enough for Elvis, Michael Jackson , George Michael, Freddie Mercury and Robbie Williams ( I've seen them ) then its good enough for me !! 😊
I've been to that show many a time central pier front right hand side door leading to upstairs bar on the left facing the stage with big screen , I was there with my wife and son and his partner and 5 kids in may , great show , Kylie as well ,
Yes it has its issues like a lot of other places in the uk but a lot of these videos just concentrate on the negative side giving the place a bad rap . For one thing, if you know where to go there are a lot of other things to do as well eg Stanley park , zoo , tower, sealife centre, sandcastle etc. There are also the very close pretty seaside resorts of st Anne’s , lytham , Cleveleys fleetwood bispham (all administratively part of Blackpool) . Then there’s the tower ,3 piers, pleasure beach , shows , events eg fireworks championships , arcades, beach, vintage trams ,some cosy b and b’s , casinos, novelty shops, tons of cheap lovely pubs / cafes / restaurants / bars etc etc it goes on and on . I even got a ferry over to knott end the other day and had a great day shopping at Freeport at knott end . it’s also close to places like Southport, preston and it’s large city centre and market , morcambe, Lancaster , peak and Lake District . It’s now even open till January with the Christmas area at the front and a new all year round indoor large entertainment complex going to be built at car park near coral island . No other seaside resort offers all this. Most other towns are boring just with a shopping centre and a club and a few bars and a small park yet people from them slag Blackpool off - I stayed in a few for a few days and was bored. Just like all uk a lot of it depends on the weather of course . And even though not as much employment opportunities as in the cities but unlike a lot of other seaside resorts there are still a lot of businesses and retail and some business parks around the area so there are still jobs if your willing to work a bit harder to find them but less than in a city but you’ll still find work but there aren’t as many professional / graduate jobs admittedly but they are still there. What other seaside resort has all this ? Personally I like living here - only thing that really gets me down about the place are the druggies, beggars (who keep asking tourists for money ) and some rundown looking shabby areas especially just behind the front (which is not fully representative of all Blackpool as when you go inwards it looks like any other area in uk and there are some beautiful places and houses such as round Stanley park area ) but the weather can also be windy and bad at times even though Blackpool gets more brighter days that most of the other parts of Lancashire but one big thing is it can go pretty dead out of season what with the winter weather and can be bad especially difficult for the seasonally employed it can be hard to find work . But on the plus side cost of living and houses are lower here than most of uk . If it was as bad as some people make out why is it the most visited holiday resort in the uk ? So I think overall the pros outnumber the cons but of course it depends upon wether you want to concentrate on the positive or negative aspects .
Totally agree, came here last month & loved it. Really dislike when people ignore the positives of a place & only say negative things, in my opinion everywhere has its pros & cons
Serious mistake #1: Visiting Blackpool in the first place. I worked in Blackpool twice and stayed at a Hilton Hotel near the Village Herons Reach Golf Course. The city itself is a dump and even the suburban hotel failed to impress.
It sounds like you are a man who is not easily impressed. Try to enjoy what comes your way and you will lead a happier life...something you have struggled with for many years.
Nothing wrongbwith the front terriblevat the back. Bit I don't believe it's bring renovated notvall.negative .loads to do. Zoo good and Stanley Park.very attractive By the zoo there are nice.houses
Who made this? It’s not factual the images are from the 90’’s card payment is taken on buses and trams and card payment can be taken everywhere…. Criminal activity same as every other tourist destination. The resort is open all year around
Funny i have visited blackpool many times including in the 60s and 70s when the town used to be heaving in august and many different times of year since, nither me nor my parents have ever had our pockets picked, not saying they dont operate in Blackpool but i would not say any greater than other towns of a simular size.
Well, that was just a huge conundrum of images found on Google. The majority of which were not even relevant to what the narrator was saying. A lot of the scenarios weren't even filmed in Blackpool. As for the image of someone point a gun with regards to pickpocketing; utter sensationalism at it finest.
These are just photographs of Blackpool to illustrate the article. They are not individually curated for many hours before inclusion. You are reading too much into the video.
I visited Blackpool in March 2024, for the first time since a child in 1975(ish), for a business reason and was shocked at how tired, tacky and down-market the place was. Met some lovely people but will avoid ever returning. A few streets looked like no go zones.
good thoughts there. Where you can it's helpful to book ahead as you save lots. Cash is definitely helpful for pop-up stalls and doughnut/ice cream joints. There's also ice cream stalls where having cash is quicker and more beneficial. Can't comment about Blackpool taxis but certainly in Edinburgh most of them do also take cards
We weny to Blackpool a couple of years ago for the first time in many years,we used to go regularly in the 60/70s. The biggest mistake we made was getting off the train.
take cash - finding a cash machine that doesn't charge you is impossible. and keep your cash safe. Blackpool transport is fun. and regular. and a day ticket for bus/tram isn't that expensive. great if you have mobility issues as the platforms are ramped and easy to get onto in a wheelchair. it's not a city. no pickpockets, but definitely some shady characters along the golden mile - just be mindful of that. as for toilets - good luck finding any that aren't 40p per trip (it used to be 5p) some places are free (the piers), but, it's a question of where anywhere else. it's undergoing massive redevelopment - expect diversions and a lot of construction noise/traffic. going mid-week is good for those who want to go, but don't like massive crowds. raincoat?? pfft!! there's always something indoors along the prom/piers. and the usual clothing outlets within easy reach to purchase such an item. it's not like their isn't a primark/poundland in the area!!! the illuminations are usually on first Friday in September, and are on until the end of January - and there are loads of events on between the start and end along the prom. you can also ride an open top tram during the illuminations from end to end - better than being stuck in a car/bus/coach and moving only a couple of feet per minute. the roads during the illumination season get rammed to the point where it's often better to walk. every year, there's a 'ride the lights' night where cyclists can ride up/down the prom to view the lights - it's an annual organised event. Hotels are plentiful and not that expensive. and new ones are being built every year. chain hotels will have lifts in for the less abled. there are tons of B&Bs in the side streets. you didn't mention the massive availability of food - no shortage if you're into the bog-standard fare usually sold. the arcades are awesome - and some of the attractions in some of them are pretty damned good. a good reason to take a couple of bags of 2p coins. although, there are places to obtain coins - be it a machine, or an actual human. regardless of which, you'll need wet wipes of some description - your fingers will look horrendous after a couple of hours at a coin pusher. best of all - the rock is made in the town and you can watch it being made - and take home armfuls of it in a whole world of flavours - including 'fish and chips' (I wish I was joking, I'm not!) as with any other major town - the nightlife can be a little bit 'in yer face' and loud at throwing out time. british drunks tend to go deaf after several pints. and with fast food/chippies being open until very late, if you are in need of a bag of seaside chips to eat along the prom - do it before the pubs/clubs close. and when you see the access to the beach cordoned off - it's to do with the tide coming in. the gulls will mug you if you're eating along the prom in the daytime. seriously, they have no fear. seen countless people deprived of food this way. the gulls have NO fear. (seagulls don't exist - they're gulls. there's herring, black backed, lesser-black backed to name but a few. herring gulls are usually found in coastal areas where they've learnt to mug people for food. better yet, don't eat along the prom.) yes - get ride/admission tickets in advance as it's cheaper. the more ahead you book, the cheaper it is. plenty of channels on youtube highlighting events and places to go/see in Blackpool.
Audio coffee brilliant, all true an exactly what a visit to Blackpool is like. I love the place an would love to live there. Get fed up with folk dissing the place, there is good an bad areas in a lot of places nowadays
I’am a local and i don’t know of any bank that charges you for withdrawals even if it’s not your own branch / I don’t understand why you would say they charge 🤔
The commentary keeps referring to Blackpool as a city. It is not a city but a large town. The nearest city to Blackpool, is Preston and it is 17 miles due east.
Parking is a major problem in Blackpool. A lot of hotels claim to offer parking then try to charge for it and still not have enough space. Also a lot of hotels are absolute shitholes.
At least the name got it all right . Black sand beaches, black water, black weather, very dark and grimm environment, very dark job prospects,etc,etc.... A very Depressing place to live. 60 days a year for a little bit of "fun", but the other 300 are a struggle. Ive been there for 3 months, and was more than enough to me. Over there your Patience and good Manners are tested to the limits everyday at any hour and any place . You have to stand your ground and play along otherwise those packs of Junkies will eat you alive and spit out. Not a single nice memory in 3 months over there. See you Blackpool, stay high.
Mistake number 1, visiting Blackpool at all. Imagine if UK had weather , Blackpool would be amazing. Look at those beaches! They’re amazing but it’s freezing and the sea is arctic.
The last couple of years the limitations have been extended to 1st of January since after lockdown not sure this year as yet check A walk on the Wild side keeps you updates on events plus other local You tubers 🎉
Pleasure Beach, however, does not accept cash. You'd think, that up in Lancashire (which is a very deprived county overall), cash payments would be preferred.
had a great week in Blackpool in 2012 then again in 2014 and a great day in Blackpool with a friend in 2015 never made any of these mistakes . would i go again no. seen it . done it it got the t-shirt great vid
Came here last Oct & I really liked the town, yeah it has it's not so great parts but what town/city doesn't? If you ask me I thought it was a great town with a nice beach, great illuminations, iconic tower & awesome trams
This is nonsense. I prefer visiting Blackpool off season..less crowds & tourists, cheaper hotel prices & loads of cosy pubs & restaurants to shelter from bad weather.
pickpockets and bag-snatchers everywhere... you need to be alert all the time... a holiday should be relaxing..... blackpool has more crackheads than any other town in England......ADVICE..... go on holiday somewhere else..... better safe than sorry.
My wife wants to go to UK and Europe. I tell her she has to change her ways. She carries her bag on her back and many other things. She says im full of shit and its not the 70's anymore. So i won't come. We do have crime here but its low. Western Australia.
How old is this video. Contactless is available in 99% of the place including trams. October week holiday time is pretty busy too. Lots of folk going to see the illuminations. If you’re not restricted by school holidays the week before is cheaper, quieter and everything is still open. Never had or needed a resort pass.
Massive new developments of £billions mostly private. 4 new purpose built hotel in last 3yrs. Seach, Blackpool Central Development, 3hotels, 15*. Space theme park all yr round
How much money do I need for 2 adults and children hotel already paid for 5 nights 1 take away a night and breakfast a day planning to do sea life zoo and go to the winter by the beach new year theme place arcade ? No drinking. Got around 550-600 and return ticket already paid for
Reasons 1 to 12 are all the same the problem is don’t go to Blackpool that was your problem horrible dirty old hole. Nothing to do. Very few attractions outside of the pleasure. Beach loads of derelict buildings falling down drug problem drink problem boarded up shops literally one straight back off the seafront a lot of it is completely derelict a lot of money investing in it by the local council and a lot of the landlords order to be ashamed of themselves how they leave the quality of the buildings when boarded up and for God sake don’t even go anywhere near the place after dark because it is not safe especially if you’re not street savvy or street smart
First mistake. Contactless Payment is possible on buses and Trams.

This video is loaded with mistakes! In fact probably best not to take too much notice of it at all!

Trams in the town DO accept contactless payments. Get your information correct first before saying it on a video , I live very close to Blackpool
I’m a Londoner that’s lived in Blackpool for 25 years on and around Central Drive. Blackpool people are decent people and Blackpool is a great place.
We’ve never felt unsafe in Blackpool before. We always go with a good pocket of 2ps for the arcades! Cheers 🍻
Although violent crime in Blackpool has increased in recent years, even the most dangerous Blackpool postcodes are still safer than some areas of London!

I dont think many people will be wanting to book accomodation in that care home, you could at least have found a pic of an actual hotel.

Sounds like this was put together by: a) someone who's never been to BPL. And/or b) the anti BPL league, maybe some rival seaside resort :)

Where do you park in Blackpool, ST Anne’s .
The commentary keeps referring to Blackpool as a city. It is not a city but a large town. The nearest city to Blackpool, is Preston and it is 17 miles due east.
First mistake: Going there.
Parking is a major problem in Blackpool. A lot of hotels claim to offer parking then try to charge for it and still not have enough space. Also a lot of hotels are absolute shitholes.
At least the name got it all right .
Black sand beaches,black water,black weather,very dark and grimm environment,very dark job prospects,etc,etc....
See you Blackpool,stay high.
Mistake no.1 : going in the first place.
Trams and busses accept contactless ..and yes we can get Ubers ..
First mistake, going to the dump in the first place.
Pleasure Beach, however, does not accept cash.
You'd think, that up in Lancashire (which is a very deprived county overall), cash payments would be preferred.
They have urber taxi now used it last weekend and can use card on trams and buses
Mistakes 1to 12 = GOING TO BLACKPOOL NO 12 +NO 1. + GOING TO BLACKPOOL

There is a lot of pub club incommers around N Pier Eastwords but not elsewhere.

Biggest mistake is going to Blackpool in the first place
That place sounds like a separation center.. which means it separates you from your money
This is nonsense. I prefer visiting Blackpool off season..less crowds & tourists, cheaper hotel prices & loads of cosy pubs & restaurants to shelter from bad weather.
Don't take longer than 2 minutes leaving the platform at Blackpool North station, they set the dogs on you. They are a really strange bunch there.
Going to Blackpool is a serious mistake.
Missed last 3 storms because of Ireland and Wales
Same on all apm charge exchange rate
pickpockets and bag-snatchers everywhere... you need to be alert all the time... a holiday should be relaxing..... blackpool has more crackheads than any other town in England......ADVICE..... go on holiday somewhere else..... better safe than sorry.
Surely the first mistake is visiting Blackpool???
My wife wants to go to UK and Europe. I tell her she has to change her ways. She carries her bag on her back and many other things.
She says im full of shit and its not the 70's anymore. So i won't come.
We do have crime here but its low.
Western Australia.
How old is this video. Contactless is available in 99% of the place including trams.
October week holiday time is pretty busy too. Lots of folk going to see the illuminations. If you’re not restricted by school holidays the week before is cheaper, quieter and everything is still open.
Never had or needed a resort pass.
you dont get wet on Valhalla you get soaked from head to toe. BPB has updated Vallhalla unfortunitly the cold element room was taken out and replaced.
Zoo voted best family zoo, well planned layout & has all big 6.

Blackpool has a teasport app with accurate times. £6 24hr tram pass. Buses work as elsewhere
BPL is a town. Check l9cation of accommodation. 70000 holiday beds with widest price range
How much money do I need for 2 adults and children hotel already paid for 5 nights 1 take away a night and breakfast a day planning to do sea life zoo and go to the winter by the beach new year theme place arcade ? No drinking. Got around 550-600 and return ticket already paid for
BLP LIGHTS is busier that mid summer.
Rains a lit here un B/pool yes, though attractions are never full. Illuminations are free to see, so dont be ungrateful !!
Rain is same 🇬🇧 wide with forecasts everywhere
How many mistakes? what a load of rubbish you are talking
You don’t need 12 mistakes ,1 mistake is ACTUALLY GOING TO THIS DUMP.
Lights on till Jan for several yes
Rain in uk is the same but not dif in Blackpool
Whats"security agents"¿¿¿
