Been riding Shadow interlocks on both my bikes for the last 5 years and theyve never broken, kept their shape, havnt had to replace anything on them.Unless your running your chain really tight(which will ruin any chain)Shadow chains are pretty damn tough.I run my chains loose as hell and theyve held up for like 6 years before i ever broke a link.

I rode my supreme chain for over three years I eventually stopped riding because it stretched so bad that there was a crazy tight and then loose side. I love my interlock though. They don’t last as long but I just buy a new one once a year and it keeps my bike feeling good.

one thing worth mentioning is that the shadow supreme is a lot thicker than other chains, so it may have a difficult time fitting between hub and its guard, or in a sprocket with a guard. I have mine for about 4 years now and its still in a really good shape. very streched though

Thanks! Just to clarify, if you cut a link on your chain, the rear hub will get forward half the length of a link. You would need to cut two links to push it forward one link length. That's because you have half of the length above the sprockets and half below them, so, what you said about the dropouts being one link long is partially true. You can still get the chain to size, but yeah, half link allows you to be more precise.

Interesting stuff bro. I’ve been riding over 20 years and didn’t realize the half link chains are smoother on the drivers than the standard chains. What’s awesome is I just ordered an Odyssey Bluebird half link bc I run a standard chain with a single half link and the half link keeps binding or kinking up. So when that happens your chain starts to try to pop off the sprocket or something. You probably know what I’m saying. Anyways I was glad to see this video. Keep up the awesome footage. You got a sub from me.

One of the biggest reasons the interlock chain faces that direction is so there is no plate leading edge at the 6 o'clock position on your sprocket. Hitting the leading edge of a plate with a regular chain is the most common reason for a chain snapping when grinding.

3/32nd chains are plenty strong enough for trials riding (very high torque loading) so I'd have thought they'd be good enough for BMX? Its lighter too, the chain *and* the sprocket/chainring. Half link chains aren't popular in trials riding as they stretch under load (because of the diagonal side plates) meaning slow power engagement. That's not generally a problem on freestyle BMX, especially if you run a freecoaster but I expect BMX race bikes would avoid them for the same reason.
