Diversity in and of itself is not a bad thing. Diversity for diversity sake is a bad thing. Example 1. If I write a story set in the past, about Vikings in Norway, a diverse cast doesn't make sense. It would hurt the narrative. People are not happy. Example 2. If I write a story set in the past, about Vikings traveling the world, a more diverse cast makes sense. No one has a problem.
You can even get away with the first one if you do it sparingly; Make the diverse characters into travelers, adventurers, merchants, etc. make the fact they're in the environment to begin with make sense, not just making a medieval European knight, born and raised in a knights order, into a black woman. If I was playing a game about Vikings and saw a small camp with a few black people around it, and approach them to find out that they're traveling merchants who are entirely new to the area, have no connections to the land, barely speak the local language, and completely stand out from the local cultures aesthetic in the games universe I'd think it was pretty cool, similar to the Khajiit caravan in Skyrim.
The thing is video games should take more risks in their writing. For example, GTA 4 shows the problems with society with its seriousness, reflecting on our world.
@@eeedddd5738 Yes hopefully, however, the satire in GTA 6 will be definitely different. Because society already satirized itself as said by a Rockstar dev.
@@hasanwaseem1965yes true but in the next gen versions of gta 5 rockstar removed their own satire. They removed the trans npcs from the game where your character could say funny things to them .
Female gamer here. You guys think it’s bad watching those forced inserts in narrative as male audience, imagine being a girl and the only “relatable” character is a bullshit mary sue with an under the nose plot that’s literally calling the players idiots 😑 those companies have no respect for the writers, designers or developers. If the development company wants to target a diverse audience instead of the classic regular joe, why don’t they choose a diverse story in itself? That’s how Disney ruined star wars, marvel and even legacy titles of their franchises and I’m just waiting for their collapse with popcorn in hand.
"diversity is not a bad thing" In woke language diversity means anti white racism, anti male sexism and anti beauty bigotry. People need to stop debating the actual meaning of these words and focus on what they mean when wokies say them. Their whole thing to enable the ideology is like how DDR said human rights was their most important value - they use positive words that mean something very negative in their language.
It's also a hyper focus on how positive being a single woman, with no desire for a man or children, focusing their entire life on their job. It is a fundamentally evil ideology 😢 agreed on Disney ❤
They take advantage of the words sounding positive to trick white people who have always been pro equality, anti racism etc into supporting them and then create a "ignorance is strength" environment where it is seen as racist to even let it enter your brain that woke is racist itself. It's absolutely tragic what's happening. People don't realise they are laying the ground for further Islamism of Europe by being such prudes and wanting women to cover up. Every time I've heard the DEI pitch while working, it's always been from a Muslim woman originally, talking about how seeing beautiful women is offensive to ugly women - and people actually go along with it instead of realising that she is speaking from an ideology that itself hates beauty and seeing any skin 😢😢😢 What's happened to the west is what we used to do to weaker nations hundreds of years ago. Insidiously taking over their society through impregnating a toxic ideology to benefit us. Tencent's investments into the woke publisher's is Extremely suspicious, given they will buy them up on the cheap. Ubisoft employees indicate it's tencent who forced woke on them. Clearly to crash the stock price on purpose. It's a multi pronged assault to turn the west from a peer competitor to a weak, timid, islamic nation and our leaders are too dumb to see positive words don't always mean positive things 😭
Personally think these ESG funds days are limited. They've collapsed in Japan, and investors in the west are starting to lose patience with the lower returns.
@@FelpudoChannel so why are we not getting any more good games from the big companies. It's all just pandering stuff or mtx shitshows. If they just sit down, and focus solely on making the best fucking video game possible, they'd make so much more. We need burnout back, to full force
this video is greatly overestimating how determinative ESG scores are to investors. BlackRock is the world's largest asset manager. They hold 10 trillion dollars in assets. If you think a company that monumental is deciding where to park their massive investment funds by looking at a wokeness and diversity score, you've completely lost the plot.
@wck yeah this video was so close to realizing what is wrong with "modern video games" its not "wokeness" it's the fuckint money grubbing ceos and shareholders who add shit in games to make them more financially successful instead of making the game good.

Ironically it's helping people who are sick of it to put the mediums down all together and experience their lives more. I've cancelled most of my subscription services because it's all diversity for diversity's sake nowadays. And I don't buy garbage anymore. So now I go outside more often 😅. And when I'm inside.. I didn't expect even half how rotten gaming industry is. Huge investing funds giving billions so corporations can push the message and not care about customers and sales.
Not to sound like that guy but if brain dead idiots just buy any game that comes out then it won't stop I can think of so many older games that was a blast But this was ps2 and xbox 360 times Remember a game called wet where you play as a girl .... well Bethesda don't want you to remember even though it was one of the best games they have made
Y'know, money is their fuel. The more they give the money, the more they're spending the fuel. As money do not disappear into nowhere (energy conservation law) we can make them spend even more money and not buying their xit thus exhausting them. I know that $10 bil. will be hard to spend fast, but it's still possible. And if they're trying to tighten the screws by increasing taxes (if that BS is being funded by government) but not increasing QoL citizens will question themselves: "Where do our money go?" Unless you live in Russia, it definitely will cause some distress.
I usually don't care about engaging this identity politics stuff but Spider-man 2's creative director saying that they snuck on things gamer don't like and forcing them to like it (Doubling down on MJ missions, the BVA side missions and playing as Hailey Cooper in a spiderman game) rubbed me the wrong way. Then there's "I don't give a sh*t" statement pertaining to MJ gameplay. Then there is suicide squad kill the justice league... Yikes.
You hit the nail in the head. You'd think that Vanguard and Blackrock would like to see a return on their investment, but they seem to be more than happy to have companies release subpar products, lose money and have people lose their job as long as (in Critical Drinker's voice) *_THE MESSAGE_* is spammed left and right and at the expense of just about everything else.
The Brexit was the breaking point. They never want this to happen again. The message is more important than loosing another country. Who needs increase Coca Cola sales if you own Pepsi as well. They already have a monopoly. This changes the rules.
You sound just like them lol. Gl "canceling" a multibillion dollar company that has brought more real estate than you can count. We have been going through a NWO for quite some time and yet barly anyone has noticed. 2030
I sort of agree..But I can't stand the word cancel in this context in the same way I can't stand the word WOKE!!.. I certainly agree with the sentiment though.. because gaming had been on a steep decline for years now..and this video explains,or at least gives a good insight for some of the reasons why.
you don't need to cancel them, you don't even have to argue with them on any platform, all these corporates cares about money, just don't give them your money and they'll left this "trend" on their behind.
You could've seen it from miles away tho. But then again, I fucking hate Harley Quinn and her entire character, she's always just annoying and for some reason they always give her the single most annoying voice a human being can have

I’m tired of seeing losers call GTA 6 woke for having a female playable character, but I’m also tired of all this forced diversity. Thank you for being an actual normal middle of the road dude.
It's not that GTA 6 is woke because of the female protagonist, it's more the fact that they're going to sanitize the jokes for "modern sensibilities" or whatever.
@@GoulagInamte777 Yeah the good majoirty of people aren't saying gta 6 is woke because of the female protagonist. its a just a strawman used by people who want to discredit the otherside as ists and phobes. The problem is that modern games are way too centered around the characters instead of the journey and the world and the gameplay. This is why I mostly only play RPGs like Souls games and Fallout games. I don't care about the characters. If I wanted to care about the characters I would watch a movie or a TV series.
Focusing on characters and character development isn’t all bad if the world building is good enough, unfortunately for these shitty companies, neither the world or the characters they build are good lol.
I’m just glad that in my childhood “gaming” was not mainstream thing. It was prerogative of small group in the world, so money was important, but there were still waaaaay more place for creativity. Like you know Blizzard for me are creators of WC2 and SC, sound of «EA Games… challenge everything» was a sight of something great, and Call of Duty was a great game about WW2. There were only dedicated people, with out groups like SweetBaby inc and others “consulting agencies”

one of them "cough ubisoft cough" said they are trying to make us comfortable with not OWNING their games after we bought them... that should tell you the level of corruption on these companies.
If I were to own a game development company, I would definitely hire Sweet Baby, ask them for narrative advice, and then do the exact opposite of what they said.
I disagree that modern gaming is “woke” but is instead corporatized activism. If the company itself was more diverse it wouldn’t need outside consultants. Idk if they’re lying or not but Ubisoft even used to open Assassin’s creed games with a screen about how diverse they were. No one complained and that was 2007.
"Don't go harassing Sweet Baby Inc or you'd be stooping to their level " You right not a good idea, even though I believe that some should get a taste of their own medicine, it is not even necessary anyway. Their meltdowns from the exposure to the Sun is satisfying enough and getting slapped back in the SBI Detected group. Interesting that they are still kicking after causing catastrophic failures in games and that they have been under the RADAR for so long. Well, we aren't really wrong for blaming the studios instead of SBI, the studios still allowed this. Speaking of financial catastrophes, I wonder how Blackrock and Vanguard will be able to keep it up, you invest to get money back, and they should be loosing money.
yep, they are weaponizing the victimhood, if you harass them all they gonna do cover up stories on mainstream media (because they are supporting these groups nonstop) about how gamers are toxic and attacking this "innocent" company. don't make them happy, instead just ignore them on any platform and vote with your wallet.
I’m sure they are but those trillions are gonna take a bit to burn through. I still see it happening though, they want to play the long game and hope people forget about it and start suckling their nips again. I say people have let this shit slide for too long and I hope we never stop pushing back until all 3 companies are bankrupt.
When a company is worth 10 trillions of dollars, it is quite literally impossible to fail no matter how much we try avoiding their products. While video games may be their weakest hold over the industry since gamers are so careful now, their grasp over other forms of entertainment is absolutely dominating ie; movies & tv shows
@cata1yct 10 trillion dollars still doesn't = infinite funds. "Too big to fail" was a fallacy from the moment it was spoken. Name and shame. The best thing you can do is not allow YOURSELF to forget.
Oh the iron of using Helldivers 2 in the background of this inane meaningless rant. Helldivers 2 is literally anti-fascist and anti-capitalist rhetoric.
Black Rock and Vanguard have done nothing good for any industry, movies, gaming, tv shows, books, etc. The more and more I hear about these companies, it shows what evil is.
On paper it sounds awful. Mainly because that is the tactic. Complain about Sweet Baby's quality and they respond, "Oh you have a problem with diversity?" Good example in media: In the show Parks and Rec, there is a religious group, "The Reasonablists." Chris Traeger asked why they called themselves that. Leslie responded that if anyone questioned them that the person would seem unreasonable. Good example in reality: Black Lives Matter. What happens if you have a problem with them? "Oh so you think black lives don't matter?"
@@centrevezgaming4862 Who the fuck cares tho? In the original I don't even think they had sexuality or relationships in mind. In my opinion such a thing would also have no place in a tomb raider game. I wouldn't mind if she was gay and if she had a companion she's in a relationship with. Even a kiss I wouldn't mind. What I would mind however is if they put narrative focus on it and the plot is a commentary on why hating on gay people is bad. Like tlou2 tried to do. The relationship between Ellie and Dina was so overdone that it took away from the plot and it actually caused me to hate Dina. Cuz whenever she started talking you'd know the plot wouldn't move anywhere. she was only included for inclusions sake. Now the buff girl on the other hand, I can see that being a thing in the world they live in. And in my opinion they handled her well, but by the time she becomes playable, I was already burned out. Accidental racism definitely doesn’t warrant an entire company to avoid. Most obvious offenses can be avoided with some google searches, but clearly some less obvious ones can and should be forgiven. I’m not going to think a studio is malicious, prejudiced, or even careless if they name something in the game that translates to something offensive in Swahili or some other language. Sweet baby inc isn’t even that great at preventing accidental racism. They made deadshot black, just so he can have some black-on-black gun violence with green lantern. Not to mention that it is a bit odd that the only black characters on that specific justice league and that specific suicide squad happen to have some kind of bitter rivalry.
Absolutely. But these nutjobs ascribe maliciousness to anything they don't like, accidental or not, they want it to be a permanent stain on the person or business. This is not how rational, well adjusted adults are supposed to act ...these people are verifiably mentally ill, yet devs and publishers rush to put their games in these people's hands.
“Accidental racism” is an oxymoron. Something has to be intentional to be racist. But of course basic words like “racism” and “women” are so distorted to dystopian levels nowadays that they’re losing meaning.
@@ponraul1221 racism doesn’t have to be intentional. Ignorance and obliviousness are very common causes of racism (probably even moreso than maliciously intentional racism). The term has indeed been overused into obscurity, but unintentional racism is definitely a thing. For example, a racial slur has racial connotations, regardless of whether or not the person saying it is aware. That doesn’t have to mean that the person, themself, is racist. However, that doesn’t mean the action isn’t. Sometimes what we mean and intend doesn’t always equate to what we say and how people take it.
@@J0eMega It does have to be intentional. If you see something as racist even though it wasn't intentional, you are being voluntarily offended. I understand there can be confusion, but if the person doing something clarifies they don't intend to be racist, it isn't racist. Racism is *prejudice* against a race, with the intent to punch them down, limit their liberty, coerce them, etc. If the definition of things depended on how other people perceive something, anything and everything can be rude or harrassment, people who are bad at math would determine that 5x5 equals 10, and every comedian would be thrown in a gulag for hate speech.
@@ponraul1221 you can substitute the definition with whatever you make up, but that doesn’t change reality, my guy. I was pretty clear with how I defined it. Not once did I define racism as simply whatever offends people. It sounds like you just read whatever fit your confirmation bias, and then went off on some tangent lol.
A company employing people like this is a real litmus test for its business model. That is; whether they want to make a product to make money off of, or do they just want to make money.
Triple A being infected by this cancer is exactly the reason indie and smaller studio games are coming to light and becoming the most popular games, even in early access. Says a lot that people would rather play a game that’s half finished and buggy but fun, rather than a fully completed pile of virtue signaling garbage.
nah i wager it's easier for indie devs to avoid this kinda stuff because they're not publicly traded so they're not beholden to shareholders, so they're don't have to resort to trying to get money from black rock and vanguard

See, that's the thing. They are hiring "diverse" staff - in terms of skin color and what's between their legs and what they like between other people's legs. But these people are only getting in because of these narrowminded hiring practices that filter out anyone who doesn't think like the activists at Sweet Baby or other "diversity messaging" groups, just look at Starfield. Tons and tons of people who worked on it have openly championed just how "diverse" and "colorful" the teams that worked on that game were, and the game is absolute dogwater. You need to hire people with diversity of thought, people who can imagine and think well outside of thier regular comfort zones - and not the "went outside my comfort zone and decided to have my triple chocolate frappuccino with a pump of pumpkin-infused vanilla today, then got myself an extra donut for being so brave" kind of going outside comfort zones.

Honestly, I think people are seriously missing the mark when they focus on stuff like this. Sure, there are some cringe characters in modern games. There are some poor design decisions across not just game development but the entire industry which are made for political reasons. But most of the problem with modern games is the scale of their game development and the management. These games are being made by crews of thousands of people, realistically, it's impossible for everyone to be on the same page. So directing these developers is already hard. Then, the directors suck, and they don't really like their job. On top of that, this is all being overseen by profoundly greedy executives. That's pretty much it. There isn't some secret woke boogeyman ruining everything. Time after time after time again we're seeing late releases, buggy releases, no releases at all, etc. This isn't cause of "Sweet Baby Inc." it's because the whole process of game development was ruined whenever bad actors realized it was lucrative. THAT is the reason why we're seeing the pushed diversity, those bad actors see pandering as a way to get money. But the pandering is superficial. There's much more wrong with the industry.
If the investors are the issue what can we do about it? How can we change the landscape of gaming aside from not investing AAA games infected by their touch? I really feel like politicians need to get involved much like they did with the loot box issue. The fact that studios are being shut down, layoffs are more frequent while higher ups are celebrating profits I really feel like this needs to be addressed
Your reaction is understandable, but this is a more complex issue than marketing gambling to kids. This lies in sociopolitical messaging, and by encouraging politicians to step in you'd be inviting them to tamper with gaming on a whoooole deeper level than lootbox mechanics. You could try to limit investing capabilities from outside sources, but that could end up with something like the two-party political system in America where only one or two publishers have a hold over 90% of the games being published due to their accumulated wealth prior to the restrictions. The best bet is to cut out all of these diseased developers from your life by not buying their products, and encouraging your friends to do the same. Eventually these ESG-funded studios will see such a negative return on their projects that they will have to close, and then the ESG overlords will try to move on to other studios, which will need to be quarantined by us. Just make it known to all developers that by taking the shiny, expensive bait that is external funding from these groups in exchange for altering their games to include certain messages will be a death nail for them. Then nobody will want the ESG money.
@@trashjash that’s a good idea for sure. It sucks because there are franchises I love that I want to see in better hands, more specifically in the hands of actual gamers who are developers and not wolves in sheep’s clothing. The irony of you using the term ‘Boogeyman’ is perfect, since most of what was said about BGI is manufactured half-truths designed to make BGI (and diversity in general) something to be afraid of.. which is ridiculous. BGI is just a narrative design company; they assists with story and making sure some parts authentic and respectful.. It’s not some nefarious conspiracy to ‘wokify’ everything. They also aren’t solely focused on making everything diverse, which is exactly the way you’re portraying things… they do way more than just focusing on diversity. Speaking of which, who gets to decide what is ‘natural’ vs ‘forced’? Most of the ideas of having more diversity come from straight from the actual developers themselves, which by your own rhetoric, should be considered ‘natural diversity’. The same people also whining about BGI see ANY AND EVERYTHING involving minorities groups as being ‘forced diversity’.. Just go look at some of the screenshots of that Steam Groups discord for proof of that. This is long winded, but I can’t help but point out how most of this is just bad faith rubbish. It’s even more disappointing seeing it come from you, since I genuinely used to enjoy your old videos. A shame seeing you fall into this pit of anti-Wokeness nonsense (though maybe you’ve always been that way?)
I never understood why Alan Wake had another protagonist. It's like they couldn't bring the game back called ALAN WAKE without a black woman that isn't Alan Wake. That is just ridiculous
That is not even that. You can make something both good and inclusive. It's just typical corporate shit. Look at witcher 3. You have some Lesbian (Ciri) and Bi (Triss) characters. You have women taking quite an important roles. But it does not stop it from being a good game. You can have dishonored DOTO where the main character is black. You can have cyberpunk that besides having glitched launch has all kinds of characters like Kerry, Claire, Meredith, Judy But you also can have games like mirror's edge catalyst or lord of the rings gollum. The true reason why games are bad nowadays is because they are copypaste the same thing, slap big map, slap million of interest points, game ready. Put it in million times.
Yeah, it's all about how to write stuff organically. A story must be good, not "be good, then modify artificially with some ideology and make it bad". Cyberpunk 2077 does it well. PS: Ciri is also bi, interestingly enough. I'm almost done with the books and she's had some (very, very sad) relationships with both sexes so far. The girl just can't catch a break :(
wrong. diversity is not a strength, it ruins games and makes them gross looking. games are meant to be an escapism from the modern world. why would i want to see the issues that plague the modern world in my video game as well?
I think generally speaking , a game isn't woke when it has a gay, black or female character or protagonist in it, but when you get the feeling the game assumes the person playing the game hates all of the aforementioned and is trying to actively be aggressive towards them because of it in a way that resembles propaganda content
Best video i've seen yet on everything. I'm just so glad it's now out in the public eye more & awareness is spreading. They are just too big. However, i think the gaming community is somewhere we can actually band together & influence change as fans & consumers. It's very much a community industry & if we say enough is enough, give our money only to deserving game's & developers & reject companies like SBI, it's CEO, Zoe Quinn, Anita Sarkassian & legobutts. Maybe it's the one industry our voices will be heard & who knows what could then grow from that. Revolution brothers & sisters!
The concept of using an external company to write dialogue and cinematic content for video games is absolutely insane to me. That’s like if Stephen King wanted to sell a book about vampires, but had four other people write it instead. It’s no wonder games feel soulless; there’s no creative drive behind any of them now (from AAA companies or those that utilize writers for hire rather than a team of true, visionary writers).
If you are actually bothered by them consulting someone for advice on how to make games more diverse then you're just a na z i I don't know what to tell you.
I thought about how I was going to phrase it and I don't think I have nailed a response, but I'll give it a try. I agree with the majority of the video. Clearly Sweet Baby Inc. is a culprit and I am on your side about the decline of modern gaming. I have watched a few of your videos and agreed with a lot in them. What I cannot agree with is that you are willing to go as far as throw highly renowned investment companies such as Vanguard under the bus for investing in a company that looks financially viable to them. It sounds more like companies such as Sweet Baby Inc. are abusing the ESG-ratings Vanguard and Blackrock approve of. Could you argue Vanguard and Blackrock should put more research into the companies they invest in? Maybe. But where do we draw the line? Does this mean they cannot invest in any sector at all? Plenty of larger companies across all sectors have some questionable backdoors at this point. Can't possibly invest in the textile and fashion industry because there might be children involved during the manufacturing process. But is it an investment company's responsibility to play detective to such a degree, even if in the gaming world we are only talking about the negative influence of a company on writing and overall game development? Claiming investment companies like Vanguard and Blackrock "have done nothing good for the gaming world" is a big stretch in my opinion. They are not responsible for the content that's created in the sector. They invest in companies that appear financially viable to them. The consumers are the ones making them viable. And this is where I come back to the part where I agree with you about modern gaming. It has gone downhill, severely in fact. But I would still consider the consumers responsible for voting with their wallets. Unfortunately not enough of us have gotten the memo yet that they are mindlessly purchasing underdeveloped games. But people are clearly catching on and one day the decline will reach a breaking point. Let me know what you think about my take on this.
If Vanguard and Blackrock were just buying shares in a company for their own profit that would be understandable. But they specifically only invest in companies that meet their ESG requirements. It’s Vanguard and Blackrock making these ESG requirements, so companies are trying to fit into them in order to get funding. A lot of the blame is certainly on Vanguard and Blackrock, then of course the publishers are next guilty for trying to fit into their ESG requirements, and then they hire sweet baby inc. Top down, this is Blackrock and Vanguard.
@@NovemberHotel It's the choice of companies to want to fit in with these ratings. That choice is driven by greed to get funds from the big leagues. But indie successes have already shown you don't need such funds when you create good products, because your funds will come from the consumers instead. You are pointing your finger at investment companies while in reality companies have a choice not to follow the ESG-model. That's why I point my finger at them rather than the investment companies. And if they were truly so bad, then most if not all sectors should be in decline, which is not the case, not even close. Yet the gaming sector is having issues at the moment and you want to hold the companies with shares across so many sectors accountable for that specific problem? Are they enabling the option? Yes. Are they the ones forcing the choice to fit into that model? No. Are they the ones forcing you how to get to that ESG-rating if you want to fit in? Doesn't look like it to me. You can fit into that model without forcing your content to change. Companies are abusing the rating to fit in without putting out good content, which leads me to believe the primary culprits are the gaming companies, and whoever they hire, themselves. Should the ESG-rating be removed or changed to not to be the primary investment driver? Yes. Absolutely. But to me it is not the true reason why we're dealing with the decline of quality here. I strongly believe the mindset of these gaming companies is the main issue. I also think it's fine if you disagree with me. I see a different primary culprit than you do. It doesn't really matter I think, because in the end we're both stuck as a consumer who have to vote responsibly with our wallets. I am doing my part in that regard and I hope that soon enough people will see it our way to stop mindlessly buying this crappy underdeveloped mess they call AAA -games nowadays.
@@JumperSnipera fair enough man! No problem if we disagree on a few things. I just don’t like the idea of Trillion dollar companies pushing ESG and find it to be a problem. Much appreciated the comments!

Love your videos usually but you missed the mark on this one. You complain about how they ruin video games but you don't mention how they worked on Alan Wake 2, Ragnarok, and many other great games. This just feels like you're virtue signaling to the alt-right.
The boogey men of video games are the players themselves. They cry about micro transactions and buy them regardless. They complain that video games are just being split and re released or just slight updates and released every year, but buy them anyway. The problem isn't that video games are "woke" its yall keep buying shit video games proping up these garbage practices. Support games like baulders gate 3 and hell divers 2, do not buy call of duty or your favorite sport video game for the 15th time.
You can't just lump every gamer into one category, The ones who complain about microtransactions aren't playing that slop. They are the people who make the push to play indie games and older games instead. the people who are buying them are zoomers who grew up with MTX being the norm and who cry about "anti wokeness" and chuds. its why they defend garbage games that are obviously bad. because those games cater to their political beliefs and they see it as a propaganda outlet they must protect.
@jurassicarkjordanisgreat1778 This crap became popular before zoomers could even pay for micro transactions. It became popular a long time ago. It went from gambling on csgo skins, buying garbage dlc for games like skyrim and the horse armor, to buying skins in WOW and LOL. This crap has been around way before zoomers and fornite crap came around. Zoomers just added fule to the existing fire. People like to joke that it was kids with their parents credit card buying GameShark cards for gta 5 online but I'd be willing to bet it was always the millennials who didn't want to spend time playing the games and just used their money to buy credits/ fake money.
@Zalkova alan wake 2 is a very well received game. Unlike every cod/sports game suicide squad, was badly received and sold badly. The game was reviewed worse than it actually is from what I've heard because of the hate for killing off the future batman games. However, it doesn't matter how much people don't like the new COD it seems to break previous sale records for them.
Dude, c'mon, how can you look at a Suicide Squad that has a terrible problem with microtransactions and probably had a terrible development cycle cause of the push to make a liveservice game and think that the MAIN PROBLEM is because women is there doing stuff? HOW? I mean, Skull and Bones just came out, are you gonna say that the main issue is that you can be a woman pirate? Like, be for real now go touch some grass, FOR REAL
@@krayozmines Yeah, and I had ignored the @novemberHotel time stamp cause that's a bullshit argument. Saying that you have a problem with "forced inclusivity" is in the same vein as saying you can't be homoph0bic cause your friend is gay. It doesn't make sense. Actually, it makes you worst. Pointing out to games like GTA or old Saint's Row as non forced inclusivity is crazy for me considering that any number of minorities have criticized these games for decades for their portrayal of black, women, LGBTQIA+ and latin-american characters for being quite stereotyped representations, so, basically you're saying that, for you, the only good inclusivity is the stereotypical one. That's your core argument here... and also, love the rebuttle guys, great work all around! Great job.
People want fun gameplay loops. Many modern games are gamified movies or monetized out the ass. I would say any “woke” influences by bad faith actors is just a minor issue.
Of all the things about the games industry that hurt your pee pee, this might be the lamest, smallest thing to get huffy about. You turned a nothing burger into 13mins of monetised blurting.
@@NovemberHotel You provided 0 evidence or examples to convince me of anything. You vaguely gesture at things about Spiderman 2 like forced diversity, Mary Sues, and "sociopolitical agendas" without going into detail on what they were. You point out bad games, which are bad for many reasons, but did not elaborate beyond "Sweet Baby Inc had a hand in these games." This is why I say you must be bored. Also, you say that Sweet Baby Inc leaves behind them "disappointing and disastrous games." Sure, they've worked on games that sucked ass. But they also worked on many successful and popular games and studios (like Alan Wake 2 or Valve), but it's easier to ignore those for your narrative.
@@LagSammiches Alan Wake 2 is absolutely mid and that’s coming from someone who puts Alan Wake 1 in my top 15 games of all time. Spider-Man 2 was filled to the brim with sociopolitical ideology from making previously straight characters (Black Cat) are now LGBTQ. Spray paint around the city touting a lot of ‘woke’ talking points. But the funniest part about Spider-Man 2 is that they messed up Miles’ flag hanging in his room. They touted online so much about doing right by his Puerto Rican heritage, and in the game at release they put a Cuban flag on the wall. These studios don’t actually care, it’s just virtue signaling. They didn’t even bother to pay attention to my man’s heritage and flag 😕
@@NovemberHotel So Spiderman 2 fell to the woke virus because a character was written to be not straight, and progressive graffiti is on the walls? You didn't explain how this is bad other than it exists. Also, complaining that Marvel comics of all things is woke is so funny to me. Them putting a Cuban flag instead of a Puerto Rican flag is a point in support of having more diversity in game devs because how would that get past, say, any hispanic person? They touted online about that shit because it's marketing and they make more money if more groups of people want to buy the game. We agree that studios don't care about these things, and only seek to make money. Game studios and companies are overworking their employees and laying them off despite making absolute bank. I don't focus my attention towards "woke" bullshit that gamers like to complain about, because there are real issues to worry about.
Imagine not realizing that Helldivers 2 characters shouting about democracy all day isn’t directly mocking the current liberals shouting about democracy while suppressing free speech and who can be on the ballot. Imagine not thinking the US isn’t a fascist regime under the current administration, an administration that is funding wars all around the globe and occupying countries. That’s the true irony with your comment. You’re truly clueless.
The ESG thing needs a slight clarification - big companies like Blackrock will absolutely invest in a company without consideration to ESG if that company makes money. The reason they track it at all is because they sell investment products that are basically portfolios of businesses with high ESG. I feel like this distinction is important, because it’s even MORE cynical that Blackrock doesn’t do ESG as a lazy way to try to be pro-social, they just use it to brand certain products they sell
They smuggled the S inside EG so that they can earn money with coal fabrics which are greenwashed by the S part through diverse hiring (only an example, replace it with anything). Combining E with S is the real corruption which should never have happened.
7:25 take a screenshot and don't give any of these companies your money! There are so many great games that exist where passionate developers still tend to them, even years later, free of charge! Buy games made by gamers, not by companies!
Whether you like it or not, there are gamers who are black, gay, female, etc. They deserve to have characters who represent them in games. If you have a problem with that (which based off of this video you do), then maybe you need to dig a little deeper internally. There is no such thing as 'forced' diversity. It's just diversity you do not want to recognize. If you are unphased by shit like giants and vampires and dragons in fiction but a black person existing completely pulls you out of the game, then that sounds like a *you* problem.

If the development company wants to target a diverse audience instead of the classic regular joe, why don’t they choose a diverse story in itself? That’s how Disney ruined star wars, marvel and even legacy titles of their franchises and I’m just waiting for their collapse with popcorn in hand.
"diversity is not a bad thing"
In woke language diversity means anti white racism, anti male sexism and anti beauty bigotry.
Every time I've heard the DEI pitch while working, it's always been from a Muslim woman originally, talking about how seeing beautiful women is offensive to ugly women - and people actually go along with it instead of realising that she is speaking from an ideology that itself hates beauty and seeing any skin 😢😢😢
What's happened to the west is what we used to do to weaker nations hundreds of years ago.

Good example in media: In the show Parks and Rec, there is a religious group, "The Reasonablists." Chris Traeger asked why they called themselves that. Leslie responded that if anyone questioned them that the person would seem unreasonable.
Good example in reality: Black Lives Matter. What happens if you have a problem with them? "Oh so you think black lives don't matter?"

I didn’t say republicans are blocking free speech. The current administration is a democrat. That’s who is blocking free speech. Don’t know how you thought I meant republicans.
A reasonable perspective

the whole """woke"" shit is just a symptom of a bigger ill that's been plaguing the gaming industry for a long time now
So them helping with GoW and Alan Wake is what? A fluke? OR maybe you guys are grasping at straws.

You can have cyberpunk that besides having glitched launch has all kinds of characters like Kerry, Claire, Meredith, Judy
But you also can have games like mirror's edge catalyst or lord of the rings gollum.

I don't think we have a chance of influencing ESG hedgefunds like Blackrock & Vanguard outside of rejecting some of their bigger companies crap productions like Disney or Netflix. Look at the Sweet Baby logo, doesn't it remind you of something? Look into it.

Of all the things about the games industry that hurt your pee pee, this might be the lamest, smallest thing to get huffy about. You turned a nothing burger into 13mins of monetised blurting.
wow, this season of gamergate is just as bad as the last one. gamers must be bored.
Yes, we are bored of these garbage games from AAA companies.
Talking about woke. Is playing Helldivers 2. Make it make sense.
Looks like someone is a Civilian and not a Citizen.
@@NovemberHotelYet you're still the one being liberal with your take. Always getting so close, then veering off course.
@@nfzeta128 where am I being liberal with my take? Honest question
@@nfzeta128 Helldivers 2 is literally a parody also you don't even know what woke means.
Combining E with S is the real corruption which should never have happened.
zzZ another slop for the channers Zzz
Allat to prove that you missed him mentioning the difference between natural diversity and forced diversity.
LMAO
I swear to god, if I keep hearing this group name again I'll go insane
