I guess it's the modern aesthetic and the bright colors and music + the blocks and platforms coming out of the walls that kinda look like the chairs you lay down on in a salon when you're getting some hair treatment. I had the exact same feeling of familiarity as you did, and I used to go to a Regal that’s in my city when I was younger. The walls were a bit different in the one I went too, I don’t think it was just beige cinderblocks but the carpet and long hallway is pretty accurate.
Why do the pool ones creep me out so much? Like at 0:01. Maybe it is because I am used to seeing pools with people in them, having a good time? When they are empty, and a picture is taken in the dark, with only the flash, it is freaky. Also, that spiraling staircase at 3:17 is also oddly creepy. I can just imagine someone or something's head start to peak from behind the wall.

seeing the hype behind liminal spaces/strangely familiar images start to die makes me sad. for most people it was just a temporary interest, or even a trend, but for the rest of us who can't get enough of these hate to see it die out. idk if u enjoy making these anymore but I really enjoy watching them but I wish I could gain my original interest in them back
It reminds me of my grandmother's house after she passed away and the furniture had been removed. Her kitchen had always been such a happy place (she loved to cook) and before the house was sold, all the kitchen tools and decorations were packed away. As in this picture, the refrigerator was taken out as well. This picture makes me sad because it reminds me of the empty loneliness I felt after she died, and after that happy home became bleak and empty.

A lot of Counter Strike maps are extremely liminal... and nostalgic for me at least. There's so many awesome ones. I used to load them up and explore them by myself, finding creepy weird secrets.
