The show is a Dutch TV Show (The Netherlands). Floor opened the show singing a German song called Vilja Lied to Henk, whose Mother used to sing it to him and his father. If you do it go to a channel called Floor op TV, their video shows them sitting around on the couches talking before Floor sings and she explains why she did the show and why she is not very famous (up to that point) in the Netherlands. One of the guys on the couch is half Dutch and half Dominican and records songs in Spanish and Floor does a cover of one of his hits called Que Se Siente in Spanish. She is amazing!
I sent her all of the links with the before/after talk on the couch. She's reluctant tho to use those bcz in her experience with other videos, viewers tend to click past the talking, straight to the music. I tried to explain that the Beste Zangers versions with the talking are treasured and valued over the AVRO/TROS song-only versions. Let's wait & see.
@@BrendonChase_2015 Those people that click past the talking part don't know what they're missing. It adds so much info to the video and it's not that long. If it were 10-15 minutes okay, but it's only about 1 1/2 minutes and the other singers reaction after she sings is funny watching them freak out over her. Good job explaining it to her and sending the link, like you said lets wait and see.
Those before/after discussions are SOOO enhancing to the overall performances!

The nice thing about Floor is, she has an enormous versatility and a terrific voice.But... That's not all she has to offer!There is also her stage presence, her down-to-earthness, her empathy, her big heart, and her talent to convey emotions.Perhaps the most important thing about Floor is her credibility! Anyone who has ever experienced her live knows what I'm talking about... As soon as she enters a room, your heart warms.

I love watching reactions to this duet. Every reactor is like: "Is she gonna do it? Is she gonna do it?!?!?" And then, oh boy does Floor ever deliver! She just straight out hammers everyone with pure vocal strength. And let's not forget Henk Poort either: that last "Sing for me!" was so powerful that Floor's microphone also picked it up, giving a slight reverb effect. Two vocal powerhouses on one stage, admiring each other, enjoying each others singing, and bringing out the best of themselves and the other. It's a good time to be alive.

Henk was the Big Dutch musical theater star as Floor was starting between Les Mis and Phantom and his opera work. He was a huge influence on that generation. It is also clear the Floor could be a star on Broadway or in the West End if she had gone down that path.

Beste Zangers is a Dutch show with Dutch singers. The name translates into English as 'Best Singers' or 'Dear Singers'. This Dutch show concept was sold by the Dutch creators to many European countries. In all those countries it became a hit show! Floor also took part in the Greman edition.

Henk Poort is a well know opera and musical singer in the Netherlands and regarded by Andrew Lloyd Weber to be one of the best Phantoms. Seven singers and each show one of them is sung to by the other six. Floor shocked everyone by how she could sing every song. She sang in English, Dutch, German and Spanish on this show. Recently invited to appear on the German version called Sing Meinen Song where blew the other singers away again. Predominantly speaking and singing in German.

Floor first band Afterforever Floor wrote and sung a song called Sweet curse. Floor did the concert in Amsterdam and sung the song Sweet curse with Henk which I very much loved. Worth a look Thank you.
As others have no doubt pointed out, Henk Poort is rather uniquely qualified to accompany Floor as her duet partner - he's played the Phantom in the Dutch production of the show for some years. Gotta love his voice - it perfectly compliments Floor's. He's also appeared with her in her solo shows, including one of her own solo recordings. Match made in vocal heaven.
Well, you can watch a lot of the show content on TH-cam. However there are a few of the 2019 show available on vimeo that is inclusive the whole spoken words not only the songs. If you would like to see more of Henk he did a duet with Emma Heesters. Now it wouldn't mean anything to you now but she got her big break when Pink reacted to her version of a Pink song. And yes guess YT has the power to make someone 'famous'. Guess you can say that with 5.83 million subscribers 😉

Floor does that to you she sings straight into your soul a real story teller not only words but feelings too there isn't realy nothing she can't sing, in the Netherlands she was at a radio station and they ask her if she can sing out of a phone book and she did....how awesome are you i you can sing from a phonebook and she still sounds amazing
'Beste Zangers' has a double meaning in Dutch. Indeed it is 'Best Singers' but also 'Dear Singers' as in an introduction.

The music arrangement is Nightwish's. Nightwish retired this song after Tarja left in 2004. Watch the End Of An Era DVD version with Tarja. This was a staple for old Nightwish. Henk Poort requested this musical version on the show.

Hi again. Nightwish Army subscriber here. Thank you for reacting to this wonderful performance by Floor and Henk. By the way, seeing Floor get so emotional at the ending of Sleeping Sun on Sunday night in Antwerp brought me to tears. Her reaction at her first show back after her successful cancer surgery was understandable considering how terrifying the last several weeks have been for her. I loved how Jukka, our gentle giant, put his arm around her and Tuomas reached down toward her as she wept into a towel. Then, when she walked off stage, Empuu wiped his eyes on his sleeve. Great reaction. Floor was a huge fan of Henk's from her teenage years and saw him perform as the Phantom on stage. Getting to meet him was a big part of her reason to do the show. They have become good friends and during the pandemic did a video of them singing Dangerous Game from Jekyll and Hyde. They also performed that song and Phantom in her solo show in Amsterdam last year. Now you need to react to the original this arrangement was based on, Nightwish's performance with their first singer Tarja and Marko during the End of an Era concert. Marko is the best, darkest Phantom ever and his vocal performance is stunning as is Tarja's beautiful dark operatic voice.

Henk was the Dutch Phantom for years and one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's favorite Phantoms. Floor saw Henk as the Phantom when she was younger and became a fan of him. This duet was the culmination of them spending time together for the tv show. Henk's use of distortion here was a surprise for Floor. In Floor's episode Henk sang The Sound of Silence for her in the version by Disturbed. For this version he learned to sing safely with distortion.
After this show Floor and Henk did a few more duets together. Sweet Curse, a song Floor wrote when she was in Revamp, and Dangerous Game from the musical Jekyll and Hyde

Haha, great reaction again to our dear Floor! She's doing great btw after her recent cancer surgery. We'll be seeing her with Nightwish next Sunday in Amsterdam. I trust you still got the links I sent you with the English subbed Beste Zangers performances? Phantom wasn't on YT with subtitles but the rest of those stellar performances are. The versions I gave you are far better reaction material than the AVRO/TROS ones, since the English subbed got the lovely before/after chat between the "candidates". If you need me to repost those links, just let me know.
Fun fact abt this Phantom performance: since childhood Floor had been a huge fan of Henk. He was THE Dutch Phantom during the nineties (and Andrew Lloyd Webber's favourite at that). He didn't know Floor at the start of the show, but now they're performing together during Floor's solo shows (and perhaps even on the upcoming Nightwish concert in Amsterdam, fingers crossed!).
When they did their Beste Zangers Phantom, the circumstances were grim. It was an outdoors tent, weather gone bad, tent leaking, some equipment already failing.. This was the last act of the whole thing so they had to do it quickly or the whole thing would have been blown away or something. You can see the rain pouring down in some of the camera shots. There's also some background rumbling in the distance. It really added to the already great chemistry between fangirling Floor & Henk! Cheers from Amsterdam!
I totally forgot about those links! I am torn about doing longer videos, as most viewers seem to click through to certain parts, where the music is, and click off after the song is over, before I even give any insight. I think I will do the reactions to the songs themselves, (I have a system that adds subtitles in up to 10 languages & ranks them) so that isn't an issue. Then watch the links you sent me after I've reacted. I may try one or two to see how the Average View Duration works with them though. I didn't know Floor was fighting Cancer! That is aweful. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in early October. She had surgery and managed to recover enough to start the European tour last weekend. I’m counting the days to see Nightwish live next Monday in Amsterdam. This woman is amazing!

Well, i have seen this many times past years, and I still got tears in the eyes when you did. Great reaction. You may like to react some of her live performances during her concert Live in Amsterdam in 2021, with songs spanning her career of more than twenty years.
So does many of their songs, they build up to something amazing. Check from start to finish there is a real build up, does it mean something or not, its up to you to find out.

Jennifer, the first song, Floor sanf for Henk, in this show, was the "Vilija Lied" (Vilija´s song) from the Merry Widow. It was his grannies beloved song. Imagine, a heavy metal chick in leather and lots of chains, steps up, starts to sing, .... and the other almost fell from theit seatings. Floor held that final note for 8 seconds. And fun fact, when this was recorded, it was fitting that a _real thunderstorm_ was raging outside, because the thunder was real. And Henk Poort, being the Dutch Phantom, brought the kind of madness and emotion to the character I always thought the Phantom had, and as a result, for me, this is the best iteration of the Phantom of the Opera I've ever heard.

I don't want to compare Floor to Tarja, but please you have to react to Nightwish - The Phantom Of The Opera (OFFICIAL LIVE). It is just phenomenal. This is the band (with Tarja) performing live in Finland during their tour for the album 'Once''. A dvd was released from the tour called 'End of an Era'. p.s I have just noticed, it has had 33 million views on TH-cam!

Tears is normal - I have them mostly when I hear her singing! If it`s when she starts singing `sparkle my scenery` in `The poet and the pendulum` or when she sings `Laudato Si` at the end of `Shoemaker`. Also when she sings `Oi Jouluyö (holy night)` or `Oblivion` or `About Love I Don`t Know A Thing`. She pulls you in her magic spell and touches your heart.

I recognize the title for the Nightwish song, quite a few people told me to hold off on that one until I got more familiar with Nightwish, so I have not reacted to it yet. Beste Zangers is a TV show in the Netherlands.
In this particular show, 7 contestants participated and on each episode one contestants sits in the center couch with the others on the sides and one by one they sing a song written by the contestant or a song that has had a special meaning to that contestant.
Emma Heesters did a cover of "Shallow" that eventually produced a special moment in her life and so Floor sang Shallow to her.
Emma actually became very popular doing covers of songs on TH-cam.
Same with Lanie Gardner and last year she was signed by the Jonas Brothers record label, but that's a whole different story. In case you're curious, here's a link to react to. This is the video from Lanie that got the most attention.

Anyway, on the following episode, a different contestant sits on the center couch and the process repeats.
The final episode of the 2019 season consisted of duets, and Henk Poort, who by the way happens to be an opera singer Floor looked up to in her teen years, did the duet with her.
Henk played the Phantom in the Dutch adaptation of the musical from 1993 to 1996.

Floor's formal training is in classical and music theatre singing....check out her cover of "Alone", recorded in the hayloft of the barn at her farm in Sweden.....just her, and a piano

It's too much to ask to react to the whole 2019 Beste Zangers (= Best Singers in Dutch) show, because the season 2019 was incredible.

@@TheSpeakEasyLounge Thanks for your answer, appreciate it. Indeed it is a show without competition. They all want to perform at best, and to help each other to do that. The show is still running, but I think the 2019 season was the best. Look around for the Poort-Heesters duet, even beautyful.
When Henk Poort is speaking in Dutch, you'll hear a slight Amsterdam accent. When he is singing in Dutch or English, you will not notice it. Nor you will notice it with Floor, with her NightWish experience. Maybe a slight foreign ('continental') accent, but that's part of the charm.
In the mean time: Your pronunciation of "Beste Zangers" and "Henk Poort" is fine, one of the best I've heard from non-native Dutch speakers. My compliments.
PS. I'm really surprised how many 'voice coaches' here are struggling with the pronunciation of "Henk Poort".
Henk is not different from your Hank, as in your Hank Williams. Poort is perhaps more difficult, but this "oo" in Dutch sounds like a mixture of your "oo" as in "door' and your "oo" as in "dough".

Lol. Thanks for the compliment on my pronunciation! I can assure you it doesn't warrant it most of the time! I am horrible at some of them! I must clear something up though. I am not a vocal coach. I am just a Music lover like you! My husband, on the other hand is a musician and is very talented!

As I do, having a very good (South-African) friend who is mother of three children all singing in internationally prize-winning student choirs. And in 2004-2008 I had a romantic relationship with a oboe-teacher who in her younger years played in the Concertgebouw Orchestra, including solo parts. She still played in a regional orchestra, so there are Bach and Mozart concertos which I have heard at least ten times in those years!
Now about 'vocal coaches'. Since 2019 I've heard and read at least 25 of them about this duet of Floor and Henk. Roughly one third of the comments is serious and interesting, the rest is too shallow and cheap, or just too puristic, analyzing the performance 'kapot' (you understand my Dutch).

I'am Dutch. Apart from that, I speak and write fluent English, rather good German, and French in a usefull way. Even a little bit Italian and Rumanian. Just from high school or practice, no further language studies whatsoever (I'm a physicist).
Why are your Anglo-Saxons so poor in languages? You white Americans seem to forget your linguistic roots.
