Exactly, the sealing gloss varnish did reduce the effects a bit. So this is the next challenge for a future nightfighter modell, get the perfect varnish to preserve the effects
Super 👍👍. Soon I'll be starting a PBJ-1J. This vid was killer. Upside is I now know I can get really rough w/ the chipping. Crushed Coral is tough on paint....lol. Many thanx 😉
Nice patina on the paint, but there's one thing that really looks off; rudder, elevators and ailerons on Blenheims were fabric covered. Any loss of surface finish would show as red dope. Loss of paint generally has to be for a reason (unless it's a Westland Whirlwind) so leading edges as already mentioned, access panels and traffic areas. Let the model tell a story.
Thanks for the feedback! Im still learning the techniques, once i got the skillset i will take better care on where to apply which technique or lets say effects. I know im off sometimes when it comes to the accurate effects at the right spot. So many details to consider on each and every aircraft👍🏻
I would also be careful with doing all leading edges on aircraft, especially with more modern aircraft. Some aircraft feature de-icing bags across the leasing edge of the wing, this is made from a hard rubber and so wont chip like it typically would.
Lovely job. Did you thin the shader? I've tried it and felt it gave to strong/stark a pattern. I'm wondering if thinning it even more would have helped, or whether I just used the wrong colour shader...
They can be tricky and best are applied in thin coats. And yes, they can easily be thinned with water. But in this case i didnt thin it, cause i only applied a thin coat through the stencil.
de-cals please not "dek-els" I hear so many saying dekels like its edgy and cool but its just poor english. The music at the end was awesome! the model too! cheers.
Really great looking finish, Chris! I enjoyed your video and narration, with some humor thrown in the mix!
Excellent work! Loved hearing the children, btw.
Haha, they are always swatting my hobby room. thanks!
Interesting approach to what is a difficult colour. Its best seen in the stills before the decals.

@@chrisveya7556 yea maybe the combination of matt varnish( Valejo) cut with a little Johnson Clear to give a matt silk finish?
Only new to your channel, nice work my friend, and pronounce Decals how ever you want.
Interesting techniques!👍Great tip on the AB needle size too. Cheers Trey
having the right needle is a game changer👍

Great video man! Just subbed.
also the reason why you have so much hair in your paint is because paper towels are fibrous.
thanks for the hint! so i should look for another product then, im sure there are less fibrous ones
My cat Luna likes to visit me while I'm building. You wanna talk about hair?!?
Wow Chris. Phenomenal Build. I'm just co.ing back to hobby after 3 years away. I gotta lot to learn. Uggh. What is that stand I'd like to get one.
Thanks! Well actually its a stand of an Airfix quick build kit which i painted and weathered
So the Grey Stand/Jig the build was on is a kit?? I'll have to find that. That would help so much. I subscribed your stuff is great.
Ah no sorry, you mean the other stand (the grey one): its from Bulldog Models but they closed their online store at the moment
I would have thought the chipping should have been on the leading edges more than anywhere
i guess youre probably right😋

Hairspray still works better then these "mediums".
i dont trust it 😄

Did you ever consider that it might be his accent???
