    That mower did a great job of mowing that overgrown area, and it helps when someone knows what is out there, and what to look out for while mowing. I mowed one woman's land and asked her ahead of time if she had anything dangerous out in the area to be mowed, and she told me no. When I started mowing, I found many dangerous pieces on the land which I should have known about and was fortunate that I found them before damaging my equipment (tractor, and mower) and had to run over areas with an air conditioner, concrete blocks, and other things in the way. The weeds in most areas was taller than my tractor, and upon finishing the job, I told the lady that since everything was mowed down she need to get her daughter, or grandchildren to keep it mowed down with their lawn mower, and I didn't charge her since she had very little income coming in.

      +Cool58F250 That's the great thing about a busy lawn service. No matter what you buy it pays itself off quick. And I run into this kind of stuff constantly so I needed a bit of a bush hog. You should see how long these mows take with a regular 52. Stay tuned, next one is higher than this and I'm gonna put it up in real time.

      I have a plot of land at the rear of my property that I have had cleared out 3 times now at great expense each time. It has ran into thousands of pounds. I am surrounded by fields and hedgerows and trees but for some reason this plot regardless of how much weed killer is used resembles a jungle every year. The brambles and stinging nettles are 6ft by mid summer so yes everything here grows just the same.

    • @Something2LookAt

    • @tjlovesrachel
      @tjlovesrachel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you kidding ...l you can’t get a scag in the Uk?

    • @crpth1
      @crpth1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tjlovesrachel- As a rule of thumb in UK and generally in all Europe. Lawns tend to be much smaller. As such the market for a full blown scag is very small. Just to help in most case scenarios it simply don´t justify the cost.
      For similar price you can get a real tractor with implements. ;-)
      Lawn mowers (siting) are usually much cheaper and get the job done. Similar in other garden products that are more common here and almost nonexistent in there. Like some types of chipper/shredder or walk behind tractors. Just to mention two examples.
      Also as a general rule larger tracts of land are either woods/forest or farm land/pasture. By far more "useful" than any lawn. ;-)
      Cheers

  • @wanabyastick
    @wanabyastick 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Had a scag turf tiger for years it cut briars that were taller than me. Out cut my neighbors tractor with a bush hog and outperformed my dr brush mower it would pull-up basket ball size rocks and only break a blade and possibly a spindle bolt (1time). Loved that mower! Thanks for video brings back lots of good memories.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome. Yes, these mowers are tanks! I have never broken mine, really!

  • @customowing
    @customowing 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've done that, I love my 2006 Scag Wildcat w/52" cut, used Gator blades with the fusion edge treatment lasts along time. Scag makes the best and strongest mower on the market only thing I'm not a fan of the flat free front tires. Mine has the 25hp Kawasaki FA721, bought this used. But I like Kohler power better.I used Demo unit with only.04 hours, had the 27 HP Kohler motor, what a powerful motor for Vertical shaft motor.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes. All the Scags are very good. I'll have to check out the fusion edge treatment you mentioned on the blades. But what don't you like about the flat free tires? I like the way they don't go flat. I puncture tires a lot, and judging by the holes in my flat free tires, it would have happened a lot there too.

    • @customowing
      @customowing 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The flat free tires tend to dig in because they are flatter then the tubeless tires. Yeah I agree I don't flat tires either. But here on the east coast line of CT. we get lots of rain or mist and some lawn stay wetter longer and some have moss and that stuff breaks free real easy no matter how much care you take. And they pick up just cut grass and back up you leave that laying on the lawn, I'm a neat freak, it just doesn't look good.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raymond Farwell Oh I see. I've noticed that too. When I'm in the wet pasty weeds, they do load up on those tires. And oh how they've dug a hole just swiveling to backup. You really have to anticipate your path to make a smooth curve. But I'll take them over the kind that pop! lol.

    I'm years late but your sound track at the start was an Australian bush track.
    I was literally thinking to myself when I first heard it that the US had flying foxes or maybe you'd call them fruit bats too.
    That's what was making that screeching noise in the beginning.
    I guess if you don't know what they are they're a bit worrying but their body is about a foot long with a wing span of about 2 foot.
    I did like the effect it had on your video though.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Something2LookAt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mario Solis That's a hard one to explain. After doing this as long as I have, you really do just hope you don't hit anything. Because there really isn't a good way to check the entire area when it's that tall.

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember cutting grass that tall with your basic 90s lawn tractor on an abandoned farm for an auction cleanup. There was a hose bib faucet buried in the grass that had sunken into the ground so much that it was maybe only 5 or 6" above ground. Hit that sucker and it crumpled my blade, stalled out the mower, and then things got very very wet. It took about half an hour to find the shutoff for the water in the house. Luckily it was a hot day so the extra soaking was not unpleasant.

      3 years old and nothing has ever broke on it. Maybe I'm babying it too much?

    • @jimmystractors1427
      @jimmystractors1427 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Something 2LookAt. lol no, by the looks of it you aint babying her ;) as long as you're taking care of her you're doing just fine. A lot of the commercial guys we do work for don't take care of their stuff and usually have to buy new mowers every couple years. ouch! Had a guy bring one in earlier this year, the mower looked like a pretty old worn mower (like 7+ years) and found out he bought it last year! geez! lol

    Weren't you afraid of hitting something with that beautiful mower. Dang, I'm not so sure I'd risk it with that mower, though, it performed flawlessly.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yea, I hit stuff. You always do when you're mowing grass this high. I hit a hose, a brush, and a few other things I remember.

    Thinking out loud to myself...
    The Cheetah misses a lot of grass and you have to constantly go over parts that you just cut.

      Yea, you know, for a while I was carrying around one of those grabber handle thingies, but it became annoying. So now I either have to get off the machine, or just mow over the stuff. lol.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tomasz Dabrowski Oh, it's a zero turn mower. Also called a ZTR.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tomasz Dabrowski Actually I would think a skid steer with the brush hog attachment would be the best. Better than a tractor because the deck is in front of you. But sure, you could just rent it to make the trails.

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tomasz Dabrowski It depends. The big brush hog decks are not what's known as a "finish mower." Meaning, it'll look rough cut all the time. But if that doesn't matter to you, then you're probably looking for a tractor, because you can pull a really wide deck with it. I don't know how much of that 50 acres you're planning to maintain, but that might be a very long day on a ZTR.
