Hello Mr. Prawn. I am sorry to bother you, but I have a question regarding the z690 strix-a wifi d4. The motherboard has been recommended to me quite often, since i have a i7 13700kf lying around. However i haven't successfully flashed a bios before so if you wouldn't mind i have a couple of questions. 1. Can I simply use the bios flashback function on the motherboard to allow the motherboard to be compatible with the cpu? I have tried this before with the NZXT N7 z690, but due to a variety of software problems this has not worked on two different boards. 2. Since i am going to use a KF-CPU will I be able to get video output by using a GTX 1050? 3. Will I need to have the CPU installed to flash the bios or will I be able to access the bios of the motherboard without the cpu installed? 4. On Asus' website they mention that I would have to download the "Intel ME Update tool" before flashing the bios. From my point of understanding tho I would have no way of installing this Firmware on the board without being able to boot.
You need to run the Intel ME update tool to be able to flash the BIOS to a version that will let you use 13th gen CPU's. That has to be done in Windows so there's no way you could update the BIOS unless you had access to a 12th gen CPU or lived by a PC repair shop that could do it. I don't know about Intel, but AMD had a program when the Ryzen 5000's came out if you had a MB that supported them with a BIOS update, but didn't have a CPU to perform the update. If you showed them proof you bought it, they'd send you a loaner CPU so you could flash the BIOS and then ship it back. That's something you maybe want to look into.
@@Bigheadedwon Update: Everything managed to work out by simply flashing the bios to the newest version. Looks like the problem i was having was specifically related to the motherboard i had bought the previous two times
