I always thought that Dr. Tesla used reinforced alloy for the driver’s cars to protect them specifically for Highway 35 since, you know, he created them in the first place. However since he let the drivers keep the cars, he could no longer update the skin of the cars so that’s why they were destroyed or crippled in the Racing Realms.
I always interpreted as the Accelerons making Highway 35 challenging, but not life-threatening, as if to safely prepare the drivers for the Racing Realms. The Racing Realms are dangerous because they were made to challenge the Racing Drones, whose safety was irrelevant to the Accelerons. As a secondary effect, the Racing Realms posed a threat to the humans, testing their worthiness to race against the Accelerons.
As much as I loved the World Race cars, they needed to be destroyed in order for the drivers to show how much they’ve grown since then. For example, Slingshot was originally a CLYP designed vehicle, therefore had a significant connection to the Racing Drone’s. It’s destruction in the Storm Realm is symbolic of Kurt moving on from his past as Zed 36. At least that’s how I saw it.
@@ChainsawChuck13 unlikely. Gelorum mentioned that she she went through a great deal of trouble to get Kurt his car and some other equipment needed to infiltrate the World Race. The Slingshot was likely one of Tezla’s designs but modified, without his knowledge, with tech that it wasn’t supposed to have. This makes sense since both SCRIM and CLYP were at the time part of the Silencerz, who we know has secretly improved upon Tezla’s technology before.
Actually, sling shot is fine- The only thing is that it lost a wheel and was flipped upside down, there was no way to get it out of the realm, the Deora 2 was caught between the portals which means anything would get sliced in half and road runner I think made it out- Taro was just passed out but the car bodies were still intact
The 2nd engine thing I think is just a metaphor to explain why the cars had these energy feilds that protected them. Also budget and change in story direction is why the cars took damage in Acceleracers.
I think it is just a matter of how things got damaged, while I think that the maintenance part has something to do with it, the Deora 2 got cut in half since nothing they made the cars out of is going to be stronger than a closing portal, any damage could be chalked up to the fact that Tesla ment they were indestructible physically which would make electricity a weakness, the windshields could’ve been changed for the color explaining how they broke, and I don’t care indestructible your car is, wheels can still come off intentionally or not given the right things happen.
I agree, I think specifically the Teku and their tuner culture caused them to replace a lot of parts on their cars that may have compromised their integrity in some way
I believed in highway35 the accelerons basically turned off damage/made it very little hints how lani was able to get the nova back despite being in a volcano since hw35 was a test to open the racing relams and the racing relams being the final test they put damagd back on
My theory is "it's just a show, it's not worth thinking that hard about it". Slingshot didn't suffer much damage to the bodywork itself, but with a wheel torn off, it would have had to be abandoned in the realm. Taro's car is weird to me, as its engine should have been one of the least vulnerable to lightning. Most likely, it was done for pure plot reasons - they needed the first realm to be an outright defeat for the heroes, so we ended up with 1 driver MIA, multiple cars damaged, destroyed, or abandoned in the realm, and finally the Deora II getting cut in half by the portal to show how strict the time limit was. And also, Rivited was way faster than the Road Runner anyway
I don't think it's unreasnable to think that the deora was just lightly tapped when it spun out, although when it slammed into the pole that had a better chance of leaving a giant dent
I don't think that impact with the pole had anything to do with it, Deora II never got shocked & was just destroyed by the portal, Slingshot had to be abandoned due to not being able to flip it back over in time regardless of it the engine would've still worked or not & the roadrunner was towed out so it's not out of the realm of possibility that it could have been fully repaired if not for porkchop showing up with riveted & that being the better option then sinking time into a lengthy repair
@@TheLucarioProject no ik I just mean that it would've been a better example to use rather than the drone tapping him while they spun out Because he was already spinning out and ghe drone just tapped him so it wouldn't leave a visible dent But the pole example better supports his claim because then that would've left a sizeable dent I'd it weren't for the theorized second engine
But that pole hit is still nothing compared to the head on hit with the rocks in the 1st leg of WR or the full side panel hit in hotwheels city that disabled the car as is for a bit. If anything you could say that hit caused some damage but if so it most likely would've been caught before Vert drove off at the end of WR as a quote from Gig made it seem like they looked at it before Vert & major wheeler drove off into the credits. Same thing still applies that Deora II compared to the others was most likely unaffected by any potential serious 2nd engine damage. This whole 2nd engine thing could also get pretty messy when thinking about the fact there's no way chicane had this tech as of the storm realm at least & it took a massive hit from the mines & pole.
