    Finally a good turntable with an equally good cartridge. This is the best turntable Audio Technica has provided in modern times. It has a quality arm to match the quality base and belt drive motor. If this doesn't sell well, then someone doesn't know how to market the turntables. I wasn't enamored with the LP5 with its direct drive motor for a home unit, but this one gives you all of the features.

    My AT-LP5 is direct drive and just as quiet as a belt drive. I have a Micro Seiki DD31 from 1978 and it's direct drive: no noise what so ever. My JVC QL-Y55F the same, no noise. Direct drive motor noise is a complete myth. Direct drive is excellent for listening and has very accurate speed properties. But at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. Be happy with what you have, AT give you choice! Nice turntable that AT-LP7!

    Nice looking Turntable! I really like the LP7 & LP5 both.

      I got the LP-5 and upgraded the cart to Nagaoka MP-110. It's not immediately apparent to me it was a necessary upgrade, but I'll wait to break in the new cartridge before passing final judgement on that. I guess the combo comes close to the price of the LP-7 but you lose the upgrade to MC option. So it comes down to what cart you prefer. I like the esthetics of the LP5 better though, as it looks a bit less industrial.

    Hi I have a question does the preamp also support moving coil cartridges or just moving magnet?

      Yes, as stated in the video, the internal preamp supports MC cartridges by flipping the MM\MC switch on the back of the unit to MC. - Not sure why AT couldn't answer your basic question here and referred you to their 'Audio Solutions Team.'

    Hello just purchased this turntable upgrading from another audio Technica turntable my question is the arm height adjustment something I am new too. From the factory it is set to the lowest position witch the cartridge that came pre installed which I plan on using but upgrading to the MicroLine styli but is the lowest vertical height correct for the pre installed cartridge? Thanks any input will be helpful

    ¿el vinilo va directamente sobre el plato de metal? Porque la bandeja viene sin la goma donde generalmente apoyan los vinilos.

    My Belt rides VERY close to the top of the platter. The belt rides on the upper half of the spinner too. The turntable would every so often drop out power and the blue light would blink. I thought it was related to the motor/belt so I actually replaced my belt because I thought I had an issue. It happened again today but right now it's pretty stable. I took the belt off, took the platter off and re-seated everything. The Belt is still seated very high on the platter (like a mm or two from the first lip on the platter. I've tried many things to get this to spin on the center of the platter as seen in documentation and this video and nothing I do will make it work. Any idea what I should do? The most troubling bit is the stopping of music playing and the blue light and the second most troubling is when the belt will begin to ride on the very top of the motor spindle which brings the belt to the very top of the platter (the 1-2mm are gone at that point). It's under a year old so It's under warranty still. It's only 3-4 months old tops. Any thoughts Audio Technica? Thanks! Shawn

  • @ElectromaticG5120
    @ElectromaticG5120 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    1. Why is it not available in Europe?
    2. What anti-skate issues did it have?
    3. How can you prove it is or isn't Hanpin material?

    • @micheallancton8984
      @micheallancton8984 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Geoff Vane hi me again I don’t believe these turntables are Hanpin because they have a J tonearm not an S tonearm also u can get them imported to Europe via eBay or Amazon and as I said before the Lp5 lp120 have an anti skating issue tons of vids on TH-cam demonstrating them

    • @ElectromaticG5120
      @ElectromaticG5120 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      CytruzErizonit : You can't just set the anti skating to more or less the needle pressure weight or make it float still on a cd or blank vinyl. You need a test record with sine waves and a scope program on a pc. Then you adjust the anti skate until both L and R waves look as smooth as possible.

    • @micheallancton8984
      @micheallancton8984 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Geoff Vane hi thanks for the reply upon further research I learned that anti skate is properly set when both channels are equal so yes you are correct. And I am going to be purchasing one of these turntables and replace the cartridge with a moving coil cartridge.

    Can I just say to the fine people at Audio-Technica: It is a shame that you didn't hinge the dust cover to the plinth somehow. This makes for an inconvenience that should not be associated with turntables in this price range. Frankly, I'm uneasy playing a record without the dust cover closed. My uneasiness extends to the problem of how to prevent the dust cover from getting damaged (or where to store it) when not on the turntable. Also, I think I would have left out the preamp on this model, convenient though it may be. These two caveats lose me. That said, I like everything else about this turntable! Especially the removable headshell for quick cartridge changes, the tone arm height adjustment feature and it's overall sleek look. I guess you can't have everything, but kudos all the same.

      Audio-Technica USA : if I import this turntable into Europe, can it operate at 50 Hertz? I know I will have to step down from 230Volts to 110Volts main power, but I can't change the Hertz that simple.

      I never play a record with the dust cover closed. Why would you put an echo chamber on top of your playing turntable? Makes no sense at all. Not having to deal with hinges is perfect.
