    One of my favorite things about this channel is that you help me see common ingredients in very different ways. Granted, most food here in the US is inspired by other cultures, Mexican, German, and the UK mostly. But the end results are so often kind of similar. A meat dish, a carb, and a vegetable... I love the reminders that sometimes potatoes are their own meal. My other favorite channel for eye opening vegetable dishes is Refika's Kitchen. I haven't been able to cook as many of your dishes as I would like (health reasons) but I love learning about them.

    I like that you suggest other dishes to go with your featured recipe. It is nice to know what else to serve with it if I feed a bigger crowd. Thanks!

    Hey Chetna I recently tried to make food with whole moong mung beans but I think I soaked them for too long. 24 hours! If the beans smell slightly alcoholic/pungent does that mean I have to throw them away? How long do you recommend I soak them for. Thank you!

    • @MitsCary
      @MitsCary ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @banandababa in my humble opinion and this what I do is, wash them 4 to 5 hours before I need to cook and that should be fine.

    • @banandababa
      @banandababa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MitsCary next time I’ll wash and soak for 5 hours max, thank you for the advice!

    Can I ask is there a specific reason you add cold water and then boil the potatoes? Does it make a difference in the quickness or the texture, or is it something that you just do?

    • @JanetBrown-px2jn
      @JanetBrown-px2jn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chetna does that to make sure the potatoes cook evenly, if you start with hot water you take the chance ofyour potatoes being mushy on the outside,and hard in the middle.

    How can you serve potatoes as a quick meal? Surely you had something to serve it with in which case you already had the meal waiting?

      One way you can low carb any of her rice recipes is to use cauliflower rice instead. Works great and cauliflower never tasted so good.

    Totally off potato topic (which looks delish) but I don't know what to do with a can of jackfruit in syrup. Bought it on a whim and cannot figure what to do with the sweetened jackfruit. Any ideas? Thanks.

    • @JanetBrown-px2jn
      @JanetBrown-px2jn ปีที่แล้ว

      According to a Bengali friend of mine you just eat it when fresh Jackfruit is out of season.Have you tried ripe jackfruit?If not,as someone who never grew up with it,to me it is not very strong tasting,a very mild fruit.,so perhaps over ice cream, or just by itself.
