I think for those cheap molds you have to fill it up as much as you can BEFORE putting the top on, and once the top is on the little hole is to squeeze out any extra resin
I fill these using a syringe with a dull needle tip. You get much fewer bubbles compared to using a pipette, and you can even get angled tips to help get into all the corners!
I wonder if a vibrating surface would help? I use one with chocolate and icing so the bubbles rise and since there's such a long set time I think it could work. And thank you for the great tutorial
I have seen a video where someone had some of the resin in a pipette once the mould was full but cut it so it was sat in the top hole but not inside the mould- so when the resin shrinks the extra resin in the pipette then drips in to hopefully fill the gap and save from the top getting bubbles... Don't know if that would help
I think taking a bent pipe cleaner around inside the top of mold may pop the bubbles. Then do what you said or come back every few hours and add a bit more to the mold.
These molds MUST have two holes on the top for air release, so those of you that want to use these kind of molds, make another hole on the top and filling them will be a breeze and with no air pockets :)
Hi Steve, I didn’t see you tap the two cheaper molds as you did the first one … possibly because they are too soft to do that? I also saw someone use these cheap dice but they filled them almost to the top then used a stick to push the resin in further, then they put the lid on and filled to full.
I really don’t get why so many people whine about those cheap moulds, I have been using them and I get perfect results every single time, no reason to overpay in my opinion as the results are indistinguishable, perhaps you are just doing something wrong
1. You can not legally sell dice from these molds. 2. They have a shady background. Pretty much they came from a scam kickstarter of this lady under the branding of 'Dispel Dice' trying to kick start her 'hand made dice design'. What we ended up finding out is that was pretty much a lie, they were not hand made. They outsourced and roaped in a china jerlery maker who branded themselves later as IceDice to make the dice for them. However they scammed them as well, only paying for 600 sets, leaving over 24k sets unpayed for. IceDice to cut their loss's started selling the dice they had in stock, as well as these molds that you can get for 92cents from their supply. It's how brands like Lets Resin can now supply them. The only diff is this style of mold was ment to be put into a press machine and created with UV resin. This all came to light once IceDice came forward, showing photos, and receipts, forcing Dispel to try and cover their hide. The kickstarter? No ones gotten their items, and its been abandoned pretty much. Dispel is also now shown up again, this time roaping in a wood working factory to help create their dice and are going under their branding to try and cover up the scam that was reported on them. So yes, these molds, and style of dice as noted by the very distrinct 0 on them, are heavily frowned on by not only dice makers, but a large part of the DND community. Even seen some ban the dice outright. Just look up 'dispel dice scam' and you get SOO MUCH info, photos, and so on on all of it.
@@TAiiNE as the average consumer...I wouldn't have ever known the difference. When I'm buying dice, I buy for the coleration/resin design. Not the shape, as I expect dice to be shaped the same. Yall are dramatic.
@@laurasara7132 We are all dramatic? So you are okay with someone lieing about how their dice had been made, exspecting hand made but turnes out they were factory made, and that they scammed and ripped off not only everyone who supported their kickstarter that net them in a HUGE some, but also the company they outsourced to? As long as the dice are 'pretty' that's all that matters hm? We are all just being dramatic for not wanting to support someing whos a known scammer who is okay with running away with peoples money.
Very tricky to get air bubbles out when you can’t see inside! Looks like you get what you pay for with the dice moulds. Love the gold colour of the resin!
Something similar happened with a large sphere mold to me it looks cool though like a river I probably will paint it. However how do i avoid the giant air bubble trap on a larger mold. I know that you have the same molds you use for the galaxy spheres.
Dude, ive been struggling trying to get a good cast out of those crappy molds and im going to try to fix the last mistake. Is impossible to cast them without bubbles, you'll go crazy tryin!
Those molds are an absolute nightmare. I got into resin crafting specifically to make dice, so of course I started with the cheapie ones. Even if you follow their directions (fill, let bubbles rise, and then cap), I don't think I ever got a single die that didn't require some kind of repair. I finally bit the bullet and spent $100 on a full set cap mold, and the difference is incredible. I don't like the sprue molds because of how much work you have to do on them after you demold.
…. Im new to resin… and I’m watching this as my resin… is like… setting… I’ve just noticed…. That I’ve been putting my lids on upside down… idk if I wanna hurry and fix it… or just hope for the best…
This makes me. Slightly anxious lol I just purchased a set of dice molds, been wanting to make some for myself for a long time- I don't even have a dnd party yet lol, just love dice It's the same type as the cheaper ones, got it from Amazon, and it's coming tomorrow I'm a minor, no job atm, my only income is lawnmowing/commissions, so I can't really go for the super nice kind I need to figure out how to get rid of the air bubbles if this is such a huge problem 🤧
I think the dice are the only case when air bubbles are really bad for the item's quality and appearance, probably because the dice are so tiny. Funny, but it made me think of cheese... with holes :)
Bought a set of these. Nothing I have ever made before has come out as shitty as these dice attempts. Don't skimp. Spend the extra on the damn slab mold or make your own. Learn from my mistake.
3:00 I fill my mold before I put the lid on, it's also a bit messy but I've noticed it helps reduce the amount of bubbles greatly 💜 hope it helps!

I've heard that to avoid the bubbles, to begin with filling the mold and let it sit for a few hours before adding the top part
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts No problem! ^^

How do you do the extra hole? A nail?
Yes, how do you do that? And where is the best placement for the new hole?
