    Meister Eckhart was a genius, extraordinarily perceptive, so much so that Eckhart Tolle adopted his name for himself. It is understandable, reading the Power of Now, the Eternal Now, not in time but because it always is, there is nothing else, no past, no future. Thank you for your beautiful voice, your videos. I put them in a folder for future reference.

    Dear Friend, that was Artful. As most all your readings are.
    Interesting picture. Capturing God. That might take a while. The Long Way Home. Not sure i would attempt to go that way.
    Beyond our concept to share the Will of God, isnt it? Oh my.

    • @jannie6359
      @jannie6359 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And that God would "disdain", something. Maybe there wasnt a word that could be used to convey the thought he was expressing.

    • @zain4019
      @zain4019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It strikes me that intense devotion to God is the short way Home, though misunderstood. The parallels between God and the expansive state of pure Awareness are obvious, but God seems to be a shortcut. Awareness, as is said, can never be grasped or found by the limited thinking mind, meaning surrender of all thinking and willing is the essence of all ways to Awareness. Surrender itself is the prime teaching in the pathway of God, and it so neatly bypasses all the nooks and crannies of the mind, given one is devoted enough and trusts God enough to do so.
      Of course, different people have different temperaments, but the ease of abiding in the state of pure awareness is made so much simpler by the dropping of all intention, personal will and thinking, and thus, surrender, and we are spared the whole 'trying' to find awareness, which is a very painful learning step in the way home through the mind.

    • @zain4019
      @zain4019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should also really emphasize that this is just my view of it. We all have our own experience:)

    • @jannie6359
      @jannie6359 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zain4019 , yes of course. I enjoy others viewpoints. Although i enjoy simplistic understandings. To capture Awareness, or God, to me implies chasing something or trapping it. In your understanding that made sense so thats good.
      Also about the "disdain" word. There may not be thoughts or emotion in God. Maybe that was a human gift but it contains much of the experience of suffering.
      Thanks for writing though. It sounds like a pure view you shared.

    Wonderful Samaneri! However, I don't understand when he says " It is a certain and necessary truth, that one who resigns their will wholly to God will catch God and bind God, so that God can do nothing but what that person wills"
    If someone resigns their will to God, then how can God do nothing but what that person wills? If you resign yourself totally to God, and there is but Only God, then you are no longer a person, for a person is simply an activity of the human ego-mind.

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yes, this seeming contradictory statement is worthy of reflection. However, the key is that he says that once one wholly surrenders their own (egoic) will to God then that power flows through the person - God's will becomes one with that person's will. But in Reality the person's delusory will no longer exists. It is the Divine's will only freely flowing through them, no longer blocked by the false belief in a separate self. The two are now one, dualism has been transcended. The "person" is now "dead" to the Higher will, totally in tune with it, so in the world it appears that God's will only is flowing through them. The concept of a person is relevant to the extent that they are a unique, individual expression and manifestation of God. I suppose that is why Meister Eckhart's continued with the use of the term "person" here. Hope that makes some sense. Only a direct, experiential understanding can allow someone to truly fathom this though. It is all about total surrender which I suspect you understand.

      Going through some unwelcomed medical thing at the moment, it was an almighty shock and horror! I'm terrified of surgery. I have to learn that there is only God, and I as a 'person' needs to 'dissolve' by totally surrendering in trust.
      There has to be a reason why these things occur in life, and it maybe to learn greater truths.
