you would think that there would be lots of great videos to change string on youtube, but this is the best one, this is 1000x better than the Official fender video

That’s no joke, the Fender official video had quite a few things wrong, notably cutting all 6 strings off at once with wire clippers at full string tension. ....derf

I did this method and my strings stayed in tune about 95% better!! Great video! Thanks!

Ok, disregard my previous post. I've had several experience of actually changing them and I understand much better. Great vid. Thanks for the info.

Great video. How about adding a coda where you remove all six strings on a guitar with a tremolo and then restring it and make necessary tremolo adjustments?

That was a very well thought out video. I learned a lot. Thank you for the tips. I just usually take a wire cutter and just cut across.

I use that same method on the strings, but use the Martin method on treble strings. I use the "Dr. Duck's axe wax" or "Big bends nut sauce" on the contact points on the saddle and nut slots. Great video!

@Guitareo Great video, thanks for helping me change the strings by myself for the first time. Could you make a video on setting up electric guitars? (Action, truss rod, intonation etc.)

One time I tried to change the strings on my guitar so I took all of the old ones out and started with the 6th string, but there was no normal sound coming out of it when I try to play the string and it was really tight on the neck, so immediately I thought I did something wrong and just took it to the shop. Now I understand that it's actually normal because by taking all the old strings out it changed the tension of the neck. Am I right? is it still safe to do it this way? because it seems a lot easier to the clean the guitar if you change strings this way. I would like to know what do you guys think.

I’m trying to change the strings on my strat style and the old strings are stuck and won’t feed out of the back. The person that gave it to me had it for several years and never changed the strings. Is there anything I can do or should I just take it to someone else to fix?

This will seem a but lame but I just began stringing so this is new. You kind of rushed through doing the 3 top strings so it was hard to tell. Do you loop from the outside like you did on the lowest 3 strings? I couldn't tell and for some reason doing the top 3, especially the G, seem to give me a problem. The lowest strings are easy. Am I doing something wrong?

How do you do it with a trapezed tailpiece like the one in a Gibson es 275?securing strings there in its holes is impossible unless you pull strings with huge tension , even like that, they fall out from the Tailpiece..any help? Thanks a lot!

    Hi Nate,
Love your videos, and have bought a course, and I am learning from you. So far so good :).
I have a question(to ease my mind) about removing all strings, to clean and polish my guitar before adding new strings.
I have an Ibanez 260 SA it has 9 gauge strings now, and i plan to remove them and clean them with Dunlop 65 lemon oil and add new 9s.
Will the guitar need readjusting in the truss rod if i remove the strings to clean it.
    Thank you,
    Best Regards,
    Borko

I usually take a small allen wrench and shove it through the tip side to get the ball of the string to come out the other side.

the floyd rose one looked awful. not just to change strings but must be easy to accidentally de-tune it with the strum-hand too right? im happy to see that the little metal ball on the strings were pre-attached, that one worried me. xD
