I love the way the secretary bird constantly stomps on its prey like we do when we see a roach.

"Imagine being Final Destinationed by a bird." Ask Aeschylus, he's the OG Final Destination victim, loved his shiny bald head so much an eagle thought it was a rock and dropped a tortoise on it from trying to get at the meat... tortoise survived, by all accounts

4:00 One powerful fact about birds that struck me is that even their dna is lighter! In the process of evolution, those birds that lost the junk part of their dna (and there are many such genes) became lighter due to a decrease in cell size. Grain by grain, and now you've saved a kilogram or even two!

do flightless birds have that too?cause some of them like the moa(R.I.P)evolved to be flightless like bout 40 too 50 million years ago right?

interesting fact. there is no reason for that crest on the cassowary's head. it doesnt regulate temperature because there are not a lot of blood vessels in it. some people assume that it helps choose mates, except there doesn't seem to be much correlation with it since a lot of male cassowaries have small crests. so the general consensus is that it's just a remnant from prior evolutionary history

Harpy Eagles do live in the Amazon Rainforest, though in general, it seems that they live in the forests of Central and South America.

The Royal Harpy is the national animal of Brazil and they live most in the Amazon, the others Harpy are a bit smaller and live in the rest of the tropical americas.

There actually IS a record of a Harpy Eagle attacking a human, but it wasn’t a predatory attack. The human in question was a member of a BBC documentary film crew, and what he did that ended up provoking the attack was he had set up his camera equipment very close to a Harpy Eagle NEST. Well, as you can probably imagine, the parents didn’t take too kindly to that.

I'm pretty sure we do have the harpy eagle(That we call "Gavião-Real") here in Brazil too, is just that it's not just here that they live

I’m surprised he didn’t mention the woman in Texas that had a hawk air drop a snake onto her. The snake immediately wrapped around her arm and began biting her face repeatedly. The hawk then decided to swoop in to grab the snake again, but that meant locking its claws into the elderly woman’s arm and pecking her with its hooked beak. Eventually the hawk got the snake again and flew off, but not before the woman sustained numerous wounds across her face and right arm ranging from massive bruising, broken bones, puncture wounds, and major lacerations.

2:23 Harpies exist all over Brazil, however, Brazil doesn't have any animal symbol. Some sites would say otherwise, but their source is basically trust me bro.

Did one person in chat use Aurora Australis as an example of casual geographic’s wordplay? Cause deadass mans is a wordsmith but Aurora Australis is what it’s actually called even if it’s more consistently visible in NZ
