The JW never predicted doomsday. It was just a few stupid members deluding themselves. No official matter said anything about a date.
Former JW here, and my god, the amount of mental repackaging they expect people to go through, people who have probably got copies of their old, 'deprecated' prophecies in their houses. The Governing Body just expect them to act like all the wrong shit they said before was never said and that the GB was always right.

I got waaay more than I was expecting in this video, and I was pleased that this was more than just a reaction video.
Most channels tend to sit quietly and chuckle at jokes every so often before ending the video as soon as what they're watching is over.

Exactly, reaction videos should add, or at the absolute least, correct mistakes in the video they're watching. If all you're doing is blank watching the videos, then what's the point? I literally do that myself.
Also wanna add, he's such a chad for matching his background music when he pauses to talk with the background music of the video. He took the time to find the song they used just to match with the video, a detail that most people wouldn't even notice!
As someone who's mother is a Seventh Day Adventist and was also baptized as one, I always knew there was some weird rivalry between 7DA and Jehovah's witnesses. But I had no idea that there was an X-Men style feud between the founders 😂.

I know this is late, but one of my favorite childhood memories was being 13 for the 2012 Mayan Calendar thing and at a friend's house for New Year's. His older sister, about 16 at the time, also had a friend over, and she was FREAKING OUT about it, like "guys, I'm happy to be with you for this but I'm so scared" kind of crap and crying. The moment it struck 12-12:01am, me and my friend, Trey, started busting out laughing at her and cackling like coyotes for the rest of the night. Some of the best laughs of my life 💀

My uncle was a pastor at a church. I remember my best friend going and all the people seeing a white family go to a black dominated church was funny seeing all the stares
So I was curiuos in the math part and there is actual reasons why he choose the numbers he did. There was an article on Scientific America titled Judgment Day Math: The Numbers behind Harold Camping's May 21 Claim (and other sources back this up but I'm using this one) that states, and I quote, "Why does 5 symbolize atonement? Here we turn to Exodus 30:15: "The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the Lord, to make an atonement for your souls." For those of you who prefer fractions, "half a shekel" would be 1/2 shekel; the decimally minded might favor 0.5 shekel. Camping is evidently in the latter camp; he takes this verse as evidence of 5's association with atonement." The other numbers have similar connections.
The problem of course being why out of all the statements about atonement he could have used in the Bible did he use that one? Most of his numbers have the same problem. Where the math is right but the place he's pulling all the base numbers from only really make sense to him. Still a fun rabbit hole to go down.

From what I recall about the Mayan calendar is that 2012 was the last date they had counted to and once that time had been reach they would just calculate a new calender for the next time period however with no one left to calculate it and no one bothering to ask people with some knowledge on the subject people started spreading the world will end rumor.

I find it both hilarious and baffling at the same time that Harold Camping predicted on October 21st, 2011 and the whole Mayan Calendar 'Apocalypse' on my birthday being on December 21st, 2012. Both of them being on our 17th birthdays when people thought the world was gonna end, and then it didn't.
This shit brings back my teenage years of me trying please my mother by partaking into the Mormon doctrine shit and losing 2 years of my fucking life dealing with so called "truths" and "revelation" honestly I learned real fast all the smiles and politeness is to get your ass like a worm on a fish hook.
I found out from their pov is that it's alright to bring up criticism against other Christian groups that they aren't correct but if you start criticizing the Mormon church then your anti-Mormon or are reading "wrong" information or is being mislead by Satan.
Honestly I've renounced any religious affiliation, except for my dog tags where I put "HEATHEN" because honestly the norse gods are badass and I respect them more.

This was...I can only describe as brutally honest as possible: several really fat Mexicans naked being green screened onto a road with crappy special effects of fire randomly plopped with several more fat Mexicans in angel ropes green screened with wings and in the sky while weird, spanish music played. Not saying that to be mean but that's what the video was.
Told me this was real and asked if I believe in the Rapture. I told him no and he freaked out. "But your name! It's a Christian name."
Told him I wasn't Christian, my family does embrace the Christian family values, we're more...Catholic I guess. Then he said that is a fake religion, Buddhism is a fake religion, Judaism are just Christians afraid to admit what they did was wrong. he said it's because Christianity has "The Bible!" Irrefutable proof that his faith is the only correct one.
There was so much wrong in his arguement I felt like I was high. Nothing I would say could convince him he was wrong about anything. Not even pointing out that Catholics DO have a Bible, and most religions do but call it something else.
Good Lesson there: Don't bother with a Fanatic. There's no convincing them once they made up their mind. Even with solid proof.
Sometimes these crazy people simple exist, in every religion or non-region you will find a crazy bastard like this, sadly.

The most notable thing I took with me out of this video, is that you have superb handwriting, I just can't get over how nice it is.
I remember feeling sorry for Fitzpatrick when watching this on the news because of all the people laughing at him. Because the world is full of assholes. And although I haven't heard of any, it wouldn't surprise me if there had been people who probably spent the first 5 minutes not thinking Camping had been wrong, but that they and their children might be among those unworthy of salvation.
I can't feel too bad for him because he's going against the religion he claims to follow in multiple different ways.
First up, he said "That's what I read in the Bible" when the only way he could have come to the conclusion of when the rapture was happening then and there is to follow a false idol (in Harold) without looking at the book for himself.
Nearly all the established religious leaders said he was wrong and the book itself says you shouldn't do what Camping was doing, but Fitzpatrick decided to ignore them and just latch onto what this one crazy guy was saying.
To go into the middle of a crowd of disbelievers and prepare to prove those morons wrong is prideful and arrogant, both actions which the book expressly forbids you from as well.
Having said that, heading out to meet him and rub it in his face is a jerk move so nobody in that crowd comes off well either.

That educational segment is good. I've been never aware or heard of any JW history or group. (since i live in south east asia.) I always saw or heard about JW on internet not irl.
From one former Jehovah's Witness to another, did your grandma or older folks you used to hang out with used to talk about "Stay Alive Til 75"? That was the last straight up prediction they did until it passed and they just vaguely say that we are on the last days of the last days of the last day!
I don't think they ever mentioned that, but grandma is over 75 now and still kicking. I hope that they, much like their watch pamphlet AWAKE from that nightmare of a life

Typically in Christian numerology A is 1, B is 2, etc. You convert the letters in a word to numbers and then add them all together. In some systems they also take that final number and add its separate digits together. It's an old tradition in Christian mysticism.
The words=numbers are from passages in the Bible that he believed had numerical values, based on his interpretation of the Bible.

My parents had me go to Sunday school, then stopped taking me to church (mom baptist, dad's family is heavily catholic, only Irish part of the family if you ask me) and because of that I stopped believing. I think rapture basically describes the "end" being humanity is overcome by sin and only the faithful rise. We know that Jesus wasn't born in the Year 1 CE or 1 BCE, he was born between 6 BCE and 4 BCE.
But we don't know when his crucifixion was, could have been from 26 CE to 37 CE, most likely between 30 CE and 33 CE; so he probably wasn't 33 years old, but could have been from 30 to 43 years old at the age of crucifixion, most likely between 34 and 39 years old.

I believe in the rapture but, as the bible mentioned nobody can predict when it will happen... So trying to "prepare" yourself is pretty pointless, you have to be ready at all times at all hours and the only way you can do that is by being a good person pretty much.
